  1. Well in this one video there are 4 rebel artilleries shooting at Darth Vader and his health was going down pretty quickly. Note that he was walking with his lightsaber and was not attacking the artilleries at all. Any person who played the game and saw that would certainly use Vader's force crush ability against one of them and then call in troops and vehicles to aid Vader. The plan also is your 7 heros are like Generals fordifferent armies. Piett from whats been seen is solely on the ISD Accuser which believe it or not is accurate. that was his Ship to Command before he moved to Executor. Veers has been Seen in the ATAT only. Vader and Palpatine can of course do whatever they wish. Tarkin as well but he has that cant retreat thing going on. Rebels we know ackbar is on Home one and neve rleaves it. luke appears only in red squadron. so while theres alot of heros they are limited in what they can do and where they can be.
  2. WarCraft 3 did not have strategy. That's the brutal and unadulterated truth. WC3 was nothing but a glorified hero fest, with not enough role-playing to be an RPG and nowhere near enough strategy to qualify as an RTS. The limited number of units in EaW (and the large number of heroes) is indeed a very disturbing sign. Which is why I thank heaven for mods that will have more units in them. And let's hope we can modify the base-building so that its more, shall we say, "classic." I think Delphi will agree with what i have to say. Base Building in the traditional Sense has no purpose in this game. In Skirmish Maps where Taking out the Tank factory or whatever actually matters because thats thier only source of units. In Empire at War your dealing with a full fledged galaxy. 1 Factory doesnt stop the Empire or Rebels so it serves no real purpose. Your after In the Invasion a Whole planet your not fighting for a single city like you would in command and conquer or any other game. So when you click you want a Factory your in effect saying your buying industrial base for the Entire planet not a single base.
  3. sounds good horrible 90's anyways Thanks for taking the time to even post on your holiday
  4. based on a review from yesterday it was Stated 3 Fleets can be placed per planet. so with that info you technically have 60 Pop Cap For ships per planet if you hve the galactic population to handle it.
  5. totally awesome stuff. Great to see we can add whatever planets we want. i see a rebellion sized galaxy in my future
  6. can see Piett Icon in the Millenium falcon picture Emperor looks like one mean guy to come acorss in th egame his lightning is smoking all those rebels literally There is one really big tidbit that interview did have. You can Have 3 Fleets Per Planet. Ackbar has the ability to have all ships fire on one target in space.
  7. Anakins Betrayal would be a pretty good song for osme of the battles. That music was so perfect with the scenes of the jedi being executed in episode 3. The Asteroid Field would of course be another great one. Fight With the Tie Fighters would be good for space. here they come too would be good.
  8. Denis Lawson who played Wedge Who was the Chief Security officer of the Executor?
  9. its early an most impressive
  10. The Map is from several years ago before mustafar existed and before taris etc.
  11. Regarding the ventor. Its been stated by Delphi its in the game before and double questioned an dhe confirmed it again. They have stated there are units not announced yet. Lucasarts With Jump to lightspeed for galaxies for instance posted Too much information right away and took it down because SOE didnt want everything known. I would wager this is likely another situation like that. Hardcore fans will know it exists but the average joe who will play wont til its out. To ask the quest a 3rd or 4th time to delphi imho would be to waste our limited Q&A slots when its been answered repeatedly already. As far as i can see the 5 questions look good and none of them are obvious answers as you cant assume you know one way or the other.
  12. Perhaps Add to Question on top of the movement of existing planets can brand ne wones be placed or are pre-exisiting slots the only slots available
  13. you should be able to cancel preorder or at least modify it to the collectors edition still
  14. I guarantee more PC versions were sold then xbox so this is really a crock of shit. if your gonna release new maps etc you do it for all or none. This is just another example of why I loathe Lucasarts now. I used to like them as a company but they are scum now
  15. Galaxies still is in beta. DMUK No arguement from me on that one im a sucker tho and been there since. youll find a pm on the lucasforums about that too replying to a thread you started
  16. My top 5 1. Planet Wise. Will it be possible to Mod more into the game and have the Map Expand to encompass say 80 Planets from the 43 or so. 2.How does the Population Cap effect Space battles for exaple the battle of Endor was 26-30 Imperial Star Destroyers and an SSD versus the rebel navy. current info seems to indicate such a battle isnt possible. 3. Can i visit you guys? 4. Would it be more accurate to refer to Units as Divisions or some other military term as When you purchase a Stormtrooper your not just getting 1 your getting a group of them. The Term Unit seems to be part of why population cap seems low. based on what we have seen Multiple "units" come in groups when ordered. 5.Demo?
  17. Lucasarts back in 03 with Galaxies said they had capacity to make 100,000 CDs a Day. Im sure they could do that with EAW too. so they could if they wanted wait 3-4 days before release to get all the cds made and shipped
  18. Darthmauluk on Lucasarts forums said it was for more testing etc the delay. As far as production goes youd b surprised how fast they can pump the game out on cd etc. I remember When Star Wars galaxies was in beta. We were all testing it and figuring we had months before release. like 2 weeks before they released it they said guess what games going live. They had over 400,000 units made within those 2 weeks shipped and sold. Now a days they can mass produce this stuff easy.
  19. id just want to visit and look round the Place and maybe see a sneak peak would be neat to see the game behind the scenes in development etc and meet the nice folks making it
  20. I agree with you on wants. id like the ability to have larger super fleets too but at the same time if they allow a super fleet in size suddenly we get the zergling tactics eventually. The very first thing i really want to see modded over anything else is Planets. Id like to see 80-150 planets in the Galaxy. I dont even really mind if many planets have to share the same basic layouts as far as groubnd maps etc are concerned. I want to see rebellion basically modernized whch this is alot like. The demo will definetly help us get a good grip on the pop cap limits. It could also enable us to make it clear to petroglyph if its not enough when we actually see the results. They know we ae concerned but they arent gonna change it righ thtis moment based on untested calls for more limit etc
  21. im about 3 hours from Petroglyph if i obey the speed limit. actual time if i drive like always maybe 2 hours id visit them if theyd let me
  22. The cap im reall yneutral on but im trying to figur eout why people think 20 Star Destroyers would be a small fleet. The Empires most feared Fleet Death Squadron was 1 SSD and 5 ISD. Endor was Equal to 4 Imperial Fleets at least. I like having 400 star destroyers in a fleet sure but theres a point where it becomes rather silly and destroys any semblence of strategy and tactics.
  23. Honestly i think they shouldnt refer to them as Units. its giving people the wrong idea. They Should refer to them as Divisions or something else because as has been shown. When you Buy a Stormtrooper for instance you get multiple of them not just 1. Your getting Much of the ground stuff in groups not jut 1 at a time. its not like you only get 10 stormtroopers to defend. you get 10 x Number in the divisions. You get i believe it was 3 ATST per Division bought. Unit is too generic of a term for the way gameplay is setup as it does misrepresent the way things are.
  24. Hmm... some wordsmithing going on there... You seem to be implying that balance is a 1 for 1 relationship (i.e. a tie fighter is as powerful as an X-wing), which isn't the case. All balance will do is ensure that given a good mix of ships on both sides, the fight is "fair" in that both players have a chance of winning. The strategies employed and the ships involved to achieve a win could be radically different on either side, but the "balance" is that you can win if you play well, given a good mix of forces to work with. Can the Rebels or Empire always have a chance at winning any encounter? No. If you bring knives to a gunfight, you will typically lose. Same in EaW. If you have nothing but X-wings, and I have nothing but Tartan cruisers (which excel at destroying X-wings) unless I suffer a severe heart-attack while playing, you should retreat and get together a better force, because you will easily lose that battle. EaW is different in that you can run if you're not in a good position -- you don't have to throw forces away if you attacked with too little. As for taking about "realism = SW lore", then we're not far from realism at all. The Rebellion ships & vehicles, aside from the X-wing, which is really the most advanced fighter for the time, are scrappy. They can't win in a toe-to-toe fight with the Empire, and have to be "creative" in how they win battles. Balance provides them the avenues to be creative and win. As Delphi said, the videos show the sides at their best. You can be assured that you can't just throw ships of the same size at each other in EaW and expect a tie. Sounds exactly like most people would expect the game to be. Tactics and creative thinking are The backbone of many of the Alliances Victories. Sounds to me like you guys nailed it right on the head. The Empires Star Destroyers may be the Top Dog in the Universe but even Big Dogs can get beat on by the little mutts.
