  1. If someone wouldn't mind could they post a direct link to the 1st mod download beacuse I'm not too good with German and the little icon with the file folder with an arrow thing just pops up a blank page. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;D
  2. Have you even actually played the demo? They're equal man, and if you think this game deserves the scarlaac pit, you're sadly mistaken. Best RTS of 2006! I can feel it comin already!
  3. ABSOLUTELY INCREDABLE!!!! From the moment I opened up to the main menu to the moment I reluctantly had to hit the quit button to do my homework, I was hooked! The interface puts all actions and strategies right there in front of you and it's so easy to learn! The tutorials are excellent and cover every aspect of the features in the demo. Combat on both land and in space is extremely cinematic and fluent, gripping you from beginning to end. the But the main thing that enveloped me into the Star Wars universe was the simply SUPERB music selections! The music changes accordingly depending on the situation, and fluently and flawlessly moves from one symphonic masterpiece to the next (John Williams is my idol! Imperial March forever!!). The all around presentation of this game hits a home run! The main menu is the best main menu I have ever laid eyes upon in a game, ever (Ingenious with the TIE Fighter cockpit!). The graphics are so excellent! I didn't care that my game was lagging a little bit more, I just had to see the full splendor of this game and you won't be disappointed either! My only complaint is that I longed for more! Definitely worth the wait, and I can't wait to get my hands on the full version of this game! At this point I don't care that some ships are missing, cause I had an excellent time with only 3 Tartans and 2 Acclimators! This game is so much more than just the ships, IT'S AN EXPERIENCE!!
  4. You can in fact speed up and slow down the rate of the game in both Galactic and strategical maps. Try the options menu under game settings.
  5. Might I suggest a theme called Solaris? My clan used it for a while before we moved, and I really like it's "spacy" style. What do you guys think? (If this is incompatable, my apologies.) http://www.jakob-persson.com/styles_demo_forum/index.php?s=8

    IGN Hands On

Here's yet another great preview from IGN. Everything is going according to plan... (In other words, rave reviews!) http://pc.ign.com/articles/681/681718p1.html
  7. Or better yet, people could invest in a broadband connection of some sort. (No offense to those who can't afford it.)
  8. Wow. I didn't realize so many people still have dial-up. Looks like there will be a lot less people playing online than I thought... 750 MB really isn't that big for a broadband user such as myself, but now I see why so many people are complaining. Oh well, at lest it will have a lot of content.
  9. Actually, compared to some other demos I have seen like Battlefield 2 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted, this is actually relatively average. Those to games ranged between 1 or 2 gigabytes! (1000 megabytes= 1 gigabyte) But then again, these are different types of games, naturally being more demanding on your PC than an RTS. Most new computers today have around 40 to 200 gigabytes of hard drive space, so if your computer is relatively new, you shouldn't have to worry at all about it.
  10. That pop. cap doesn't worry me one bit! That battle is HUGE! Think of all the time we've wasted complaining! And those beautiful graphics bring a tear to a Sith's eye. *sniff*
  11. Two words: Aggressive negotiations.
  12. Voice acting is a lot better than I had expected it to be, and it's great news that Mr. Morrison decided to lend his voice to EAW (he was exellent in SWBF2), as well as the son of the real General Veers. They must have spent a great deal of time and money recording all those lines to make for the most realistic Star Wars experience. Can't wait for co-op LAN parties and online games with my clan! We shall squash the scum united!! Natives do not concern me too much, but it sometimes is necessary to take them into account. The wookiees are definately on my "must have" list, but the only diplomacy I need is the Emporer. I think his Force corrupt power will prove to be quite useful. I will be sure that they'll be on MY side when the time comes. Ooh, goo-grenades!! Im shaking in my little space boots!! Ah, so there is a self-destruct after all! This will make for some interesting tactical scenarios! 1000 TIE Mauler kamikaze run anyone? Those scum will never take my stations either! Artillery is a necessary asset in my opinion, so I expect to see tons of them in space and on the ground, especially when I don't have a Star Destroyer or two to spare to protect my posts. All in all, great info! I am very pleased with the way this game is turing out, and can't wait to finally get my hands on the demo wednesday.
  13. The sooner I get to pwn Rebel scum, the better.
  14. The Lucas Forums site was given a chance to answer some questions, just as we have in the past. Here's what the response to their five questions was: The majority of the heroes are voiced by sound-alike actors, though we have a few recognizable ones. All of the sound-alike actors did a great job, and some of their performances are hard to tell from the original characters. While we were recording lines for Boba Fett, Temuera Morrison (the actor who played Jango Fett) happened to be in the building recording for another product and he agreed to read the lines for us. During Empire-side auditions we found someone who sounded identical to General Veers. By a twist of fate, he turned out to be Jamie Glover, son of Julian Glover, the original actor who played Veers in The Empire Strikes Back. And of course, “sound-alikeâ€
  15. Most of them are element and creature updates, but there's new planets there too. The Vergesso Asteroid Field looks like an interesting place for a battle, and the new planets like Ryloth, Polus, and Sullist look like they're gonna be harsh on your troops. Which brigs up the question, would you rather suffocate, freeze, melt in a pit of lava, or get crushed by asteroids? Womp rats look like just minor annoyances, but I wonder what they mean by loosing your blood to those sketto things? Sounds painful. I can't believe they quoted Anakin from Episode II on the annoyances of sand! EDIT: Invisible to sensors in the asteroid field? I sense much strategy in the Force...
  16. Looks like there's a new update for EAW on the official site. Most of them are just pics, but there's a few new vids in there too. Check it out: http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/indexFlash.html [MOVED & EDITED BY SIDDUS]
  17. *Evil laugh* You can try. You'd fail, but you can try. In other words, BRING IT ON SCUM!! I think all pop. cap ships size 2 and up should be nameable. I won't really bother with naming my fighter groups though, seeing as there will be SO MANY OF THEM!! And besides, who would want to bother with ground unit naming anyway unless it is Veer's AT-AT, which I doubt has a name at all.
  18. So is this a "share you're best ship name" post then? My flagship will be notoriously known throughout the galaxy as the ultimate peace keeper. Look out scum cause the mighty Sentinel is on patrol!
  19. How bout this one? Malak has been pwndizzled! Long live Lord Revan and the glorious Sith Empire!! If anyone can tell me what those words are at the bottom right of my sig, you will have the honor of becoming my apprentice.
  20. Collector's for me. I've been savin up my money for a while, and I need some good Star Destroyer wallpapers. BTW, anyone know a good where I can get some decent ISD pics?
  21. Thanks for the confirmation Delphi, but what does this mean? Either side? It's clearly an Imperial vessel, so why would you guys want to give it to the Rebel scum? It would make absolutely no sense if the Rebels had it, even if there was a specific capture mission, that thing is still packed with stormtroopers! There's no way some scum commando team could capture a ship of that stature. And besides, it's too musch of a ship for them to handle... EDIT:The game looks incredable, I and I can't wait!!
  22. Man, what a game!! How bout Vince Young!? BEST. GAME. EVER. PERIOD. We came, we saw, and we hooked 'em! That's my school BTW!
  23. I expected a lot, and still expect a lot. This game is truely turning out to be the RTS of my dreams. Mixing Star Wars and real-time strategy is always a great mix, but it is not always executed to it's full potential (A.K.A. Force Commander and Rebellion). Although there have been some disapointments, I still have high hopes for this game, and I fail to see why some people think otherwise. If you're thinking mods are going to "save" the game, you're terribly mistaken because there's nothing that needs saving! The game is going to be great, no matter what. Not even all the pessimism and complaining in the world is going to stop this from becoming one of the best RTS games of all time. Period.
  24. Imperial fighters are meant to be expendable. And plus, there's a time limit! If anything, it's unfair for the Imperials to have such weak fighters IMO. But that is their main strategy: Quantity>Quality I don't think ISDs need to have extensive numbers of troops either. After all, that's what the Acclimators are for, and the Venators.... *sigh*
  25. Admins: Last post by me on this subject, promise. 1. If your're referring to the "MTV Jackass" generation, then yes, I agree with you there. I do live in the U.S. and I find those individuals to be most... irritating, but I would not go as far as to say all of the youth these days are in this category. This could considered something I like to call "prejudice". 2. If you believe me to be a person of the now official Jedi faith, I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken. I am a Christian, (by my own will I might add, not my parents) and although there are some things I find about the Force to be relevant to my faith, I do not worship it. EDIT: I told you so... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1589133.stm What's suprising is they outnumber the Judaism even, lol. http://www.explorefaith.org/news/05_17_05.html Now, if you don't mind, let's not turn this into another prejudiced discussion about controversial issues. All I ask is for a little respect, no matter what their age or background. I apologize to Teradyn for my comments earlier. AND NO ONE "RUINED" STAR WARS!!! GOING BACK ON TOPIC NOW : The Venator will be missed. It was a unit that I was really looking forward to having in my armada, and now it's gone. All we can hope for are mods or an expansion to fill it's abscence. Until then, I think that the ISD's can crap out more than enough fighters for my purposes.
