  1. My favourite one was with Galactic Battlegrounds expansion. I did a full press release saying that it was canned. Oh the fun! It is evil but it just had to be done DMUK
  2. Indeed! Happy April fools! DMUK
  3. Empire at war.net have released Exclusive news about a brand new Empire at War Special Edition pack, being released on April 24th (USA) and 28th (europe). Full details >>> http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=163158 http://www.lucasforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2535&stc=1 DMUK
  4. Online, DarthMaulUK - althought I spend more time getting bored with the 1v1 Campaign. Hell knows why i am still playing that. Dawn of War - MostHaunted, Wildflower Xfire - Jigglybean (dont ask!) DMUK
  5. In fact, ATi are now on version 6.3 of their drivers. So you will need those. Also, make sure that you installed Direct x9c direct from the cd. Make sure as well, that any anti-virus software is off during all installs. If you had/have any mods, remove them. When installing the drivers for your graphic card, its best to remove the old drivers first. Not to make you worry too much, your processor *could* be on its way out. A few years back my PC (with and AMD chip) decided to keep rebooting randomly and I couldn't understand why. I replaced everything. Graphic card, motherboard, RAM but it turned out to be the CPU. Power supply has been mentioned but unless you have a 200 watt power unit, I wouldnt worry too much about that for now as your PC specs are not that demanding. DMUK
  6. We can reveal today that Empire at War jumped into the UK ALL FORMATS chart at Number 2 - a fantastic achievement for a PC only title. Competition was tough, with EA's record breaking Need for Speed: Most Wanted, ending its 10 week stint at number 1 - being knocked off by SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS. In the PC only format chart, new releases were few and far between but Empire at War hit the number 1, kicking Segas Football Manager 2006 into touch and slapping EA's COMMAND & CONQUER: THE FIRST DECADE release, which only charted at number 4 in the PC only chart and it didnt even chart in the Top 40 all formats, which shows the sales gap Empire at War had. 7. News Release 23 Feb 2006 Empireatwar.net has launched a brand new 1v1 campaign ladder. Users can still play on gamespy but instead of playing using the 'Quick Match' mode, which throws up random settings, players can play a normal custom match, using the settings that both players agree on. Once the game has ended, the LOSER visits the ladder site and reports the loss. Its that simple and easy! Sign up today and start playing the campaign match YOU want to play http://www.myleague.com/empireatwar DMUK www.empireatwar.net DMUK

  9. The UK PC gamer site is rubbish and updated when they feel like it. It will be at least a month before the review is up. Also, the PC gamer UK totally different to PC gamer in the US, they just share the same name. DMUK
  10. I have said it a dozen times before. Magazine reviews - especially in the UK and probably Europe can be 'bought' so I pay them no attention to them. Having said all that, after reading PC Gamers preview the month before, I had a gut feeling that they wouldnt be giving EaW a score in the 80s. Empire at War is no Rome:Total War (95%), its certainly no Dawn Of War(91%) and if you buy PC ZONE (which is owned by the same company now, and they gave BFME 91% -noticed the double page advert, exclusive review and demo in that issue?) but EaW beats that hands down. The way bases are pre-set is something PC Gamer didnt like with BFME and didnt like with EaW but I think overall the game deserves and 81-85% as you can just jump right in with easy to use controls, stunning graphics and thanks to the galactic map being real time, you are always kept on your guard and busy, recreating the fast pace of a Star Wars movie as the conflict builds ups. I think the job done here is a good one and its up to us to educate the store workers as they will be the ones who can make or break the game. DMUK
  11. The final question is up - good luck DMUK
  12. See - now you would think that - but if you look today on their website and the overall rankings, Empire at War has moved OUT from the number 1 spot yesterday out of the top 10...whats number 1? BFME 2...I wonder how much that cost EA DMUK
  13. LucasArts is excited to announce that Star Wars: Empire at War has officially GONE GOLD on PC and is scheduled to “command” its way onto store shelves on February 16, 2006. Star Wars: Empire at War puts the power to command an entire war for the Star Wars galaxy at your fingertips, with battles focused on action-packed combat rather than tedious resource gathering. Set a few years before the events of Episode IV A New Hope, LucasArts’ new PC game lets players wage war on ground and in space, as well as experience the creation of the Rebel Alliance, the strengthening of the Empire and the beginnings of the Galactic Civil War. Star Wars: Empire at War is developed by Petroglyph and published by LucasArts. For more information and to download the playable demo, go to the official product website at www.empireatwar.com. DMUK
  14. 21-28 days? Then there must be a big difference to how things are done over there. In the UK/Europe, its alot quicker, especially on a PC only format...oh and thats the last time Im gonna explain anything using a 56k modem!! ;D
  15. Since this is a PC only release, they dont have to worry about strict TCRs/TRCs that Sony,Microsoft and Nintendo have as rules before a game can be published on their formats. If they are still working on small bugs (and at this stage, thats what should be left), the game isnt gold.Gold is when the game is completely finished and ready to ship. It doesnt take long to get the game out. They will already have covers/cases prepared within a certain quantity and if PR have done their job right, the cover of the CD could have a quote or quotes from magazine reviews. DMUK
  16. This is a rough guide that should help you How to install your mod Click on MY COMPUTER Then the drive you installed the demo on (IE: C drive) Program files Lucasarts Empire at war demo gamedata data (Your route should look like this C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Demo\GameData\Data Its just a case of either extracting, or opening up your folder from My computer and using the path as I have shown...and dragging/dropping the mod files in there DMUK
  17. I was going to get it early to upload to lucasfiles but now LA will be doing that. I will get it...even if i have to use a friends PC! lol DMUK
  18. My big downer.... I am moving back to London next week and wont have proper internet access until the end of Jan at least lol What timing DMUK
  19. Let me address BOTH issues here. Firstly Siddus. Not many people send me over the edge, but you most certainly do. Naturally you're jealous because your site reports news rather than makes it. Dev chat - announced and held to great success exclusive screenshots Delayed released date - announced and correct Demo released date - announced and correct. fake? I think not. Ive been doing this kind of thing for almost 6 years with Lucasarts and yes, times/dates change at the last minute but thats life. Get over it. Secondly. PFF thread I have just logged into our forums and this was put in front of me. I saw the post earlier on our forums and left it as it is useful info as I know many people are members on both forums - although really this place focus more on Petroglyph/Eaw where we are Lucasarts/EaW but like giving Petroglyph the extra coverage as they deserve it. I have reopend the thread and apologise in advance DMUK
  20. Thats how the Americans have their dates. Europe has it 10/2/6, they have it 2/10/6 - the month always first. DMUK
  21. BFME was left alone by EA because it sucked. And when you have something like Rome Total War to challenge against...well, there is no challenge! With Battlefront 2 well behind, the marketing push can begin for EaW. naturally the budget wont be as huge as BF2 because this title is only for the PC. And its our jobs as fans, to spread the word as well to the massives and judging by the latest pre-release figures, its looking good DMUK
  22. The key factor is to be constructive. Just by posting 'this game will suck' with no reasons why deserves to be deleted. Everyone has their views but its how you deliver that view can be a worry. DMUK
  23. Firstly, if you do that, that wont only hurt Lucasarts but it would probably give a bigger blow to Petroglyph, being the developer who would jump at the chance of an expansion to boost funds and increase development of their own. Also, if you do feel strongly about the removal of the Venator, one of our forum guys has set up a poll and I will pass on the results to Lucasarts. DMUK
  24. i believe the Q&A is on here somewhere DMUK
  25. Theres a brief multiplayer outline in a recent Q&A I did. Link in my sign DMUK
