  3. LOL since your here why dont you give us some info on the pop cap? What would you like to know other than it does not hinder the player in the way you guys are thinking?

  5. so why exactly would we need tools to do that? You need to be able to extract the data from source files. The XMLS just don't float around free and fun.

  8. So what, you use a type of XML every time you post here. Replace [ quote ] with < quote > and there you have it. And with that said, that is how easy it is to mod the data contained within the XML files.

  11. Ahh my favorite debate! Having been an RTS developer for 10 years, I vote for balance. Realism bites, that's what military sims are for.
  12. Hi guys, You ready for another round of Q&A? Put together your top 5 questions by this Wednesday, and just like last week, I'll have them answered for Friday. Cya!
  13. Not to thrilled about having only 8 spaces to build stuff and from how it sounds. There are 43+ planets and if we average say 5 slots per planet, that does = 215+ slots in the game. Seems like more than enough.
  14. For the record here is how the multiplayer modes breaks down: Skirmish Tactical (Land & Space) = Individual maps that range between 2-8 players. These maps are themed on and above some of your favorite planets (Yavin, Hoth, Dagobah, and more). This mode was created from scratch and uses some game mechanics not found in the single-player game. I had a blast designing this one… Campaign = Contains a variety of different scenarios ranging from 8-43 planets (similar to single-player) depending on which scenario players choose. In this mode you can only play 1vs1. But! Players will be able to save their games to continue at a later date. This mode most resembles the single-player experience. We’ve had some games last up to two days straight (20 hours). In the next week or so GameSpot will be releasing my dev diary that contains in-depth details about each mode. So stay tuned!
  15. Here are the questions I promised to answer and have back to ya guys today. 1. We remember hearing a interview from E3 about recording video from ingame. Exactly how will this work ? Will we be able to record freely or will it just be normally recorded and the user able to freeroam around it? Is this some sort of a fan movie tool?   16. Gamespy has sucked BAD everytime ive ever seen them. Even for a newer games like Dawn of War, theyve been absolutely terrible. Being the multiplayer lead designer on this game and having worked on the C&C line, Generals and BFME, I am fully aware of the connecting issues, exploitation, and lag players find with the GameSpy system or so they think. In most cases it is not GameSpy but simply bad integration. I'm not going to promise that EAW will be 100% solid and will have no online issues. I say this because in all my years of working on RTS games (10+), they receive more online testing in first day of launch than they do through the course of development. Something is always bound to arise. One of my biggest worries is connectivity (4-players or more). This was horrible for BFME and Generals, and I want to assure you we are doing our best to make sure we catch as many problems as possible before we ship. I can't tell you how often I am sending e-mails making sure our QA is testing larger games. Petroglyph will be playing EAW multiplayer up until the day it goes live to the public. If we have to issue a day 1 patch to fix balance and connectivity issues before the game goes live we will. If another patch needs to be issued 1 month later to fix more issues, than so be it. Having been a community manager on C&C, I’m fully aware of how players can abuse the system. I’ve been very hard on GameSpy and Lucas about making sure our player profile wipes and disconnect tracking systems are all in place before this game goes live. Rest assured myself and a few other devs will be very active playing games with the fans, so we will be fully aware of exploits and balance issues as they happen. This is my promise to you… My hope is that we can work together and nail these issues as a group when they arise.
  17. Well looks like it is official, clone wars expansion. Now how does that play within the EAW time-line?
  18. Delphi were they used against you then? Yes, we were in a 6-player tactical multiplayer game playing on Hoth. I got a an audio message indicating our base was under attack. When I centered over our base, BAM! Vader was doing his thing. but ive got to say that Vader is look promising though but Delphi can you tell us anything about a DEMO? Not yet, but I have been polishing up the maps the demo will be using.
  19. Delphi are you confirming its in the game? Mustafar is not in the game. That's about all I can really say for now.
  20. But it is still too bad that Mustafar wasnt included. Mustafar will serve its purpose, once again, in due time.
  21. As a small note, Force Corrupt is an Emperor only ability. For only he has the power to corrupt the will and minds of the weak.
  22. Force Push only works on infantry based units. Force Crush works on vehicles. As a polish task, we recently implemented a very cool structure attack for Vader, Kenobi, and the Emperor. No other unit in the game does what these guys do. I'd love to tell ya, but it spoils everything. I will say that when I first saw their structure attacks in game-play, my mouth dropped open and I could not control the colorful adjectives spewing from my mouth. All good of course.
