To level the playing field, anyone remember that woman who turned up for jury service in the States about a decade ago in a Star Trek federation uniform? It obviously made the news (given it was her obsession with a sci-fi interest and someone else's eventual civil-liberty in front of a court of law), before she got discharged from the case for like *dah* discussing details to the press, on account of her obvious wackiness at such a sober occasion of civil duty! To put this into context, the vast majority of hardcore Star Wars fans wouldn't get past the paperwork, given we are more or less Imperial.. Someone dressed as a Stormtrooper or Darth Vader turning up for jury service would have to the wit and eloquence of Shakespeare to make the courtroom. But having just said that, to address the thread's original *snipe* I couldn't really care.. I like Star Trek in most of it's incarnations as Sci-Fi as well as the Star Wars saga. I just walk away without a hang-up when time for my interest is over..

Simple look at his pre-1942 campaign in Finland; following a systematic cull of quality military officers he deployed crap soldiers from the south of Russia, completely inexperienced in winter warfare, the result of which was about 100,000 Russian deaths to about 20,00 Finns. The fiasco , many military historians argue, prompted Hitler to launch his invasion on the eastern front given the evidence of military incompetence. That the Nazi's got that completely wrong as well is further evidence of how not to run a military machine with a governance of fear, where commanders are afraid to act independently, or act on instinct or initiative. Hitler destroyed this capability in his army. Stalin countered it by sacrificing millions of soldiers and civilians with complete ruthlessness. Both Stalin and Hitler, like Pol Pot, obviously simply hated human life. So where do you draw the line to outlaw and ban in public? People waving the Nazi flag or some communist twat waving their's, they are equally representative of utter folly, genocide, and extreme evil. Both were unfortunate accidents of history and circumstance. So will the German government be outlawing any symbols to Communism? It all seems slightly stupid to me, what next? Online references to Capitalism? Only takes two or three seconds to mull..

Ego shuffle or what! You've contributed 359 posts in all that time; forgive me for not feeling all that nostalgic. Call it the timeless Buddhist in me, but the 'good ol'days' as an expression, is slightly meaningless given in yet another year's time this moment might be considered 'good ol'days,' for those around right now. I don't consider being here in 2003 or whenever it was when I joined up any better than right now, actually it's probably better now; a hardcore of intelligent fans of an old but still unique game, with a data base of cards and game models and downloads that still continues to expand. When I first joined my Photoshop skills were truly dreadful. I barely new the programme. Since then I figured it out enough to get a job as a mac operator at the UK's leading celebrity image agency. Hated the job, and hate working with the game's .bmp image format, but stuff uploaded these days is generally much better to see and use in the game than it was back in 2003! We've all improved, or have joined the community with much better education with such software. Until Lucasarts release a title that essentially follows the same guidelines as the original game, ie: imagination and ability to truly take hold of the wonderful Star Wars universe as each of us imagines it, the game, and this site will never really go away. Good times continue rolling..
