Well, I've spoken with DMUK, but I am sorry to report the chat can not be postponed. Just to give you guys (and any possible girls reading this ) a reminder, here are the times the chat will start: GMT: 7 PM CET: 8 PM US East Coast: 2 PM US West Coast: 11 AM As for any SSD questions, no such questions will be allowed to go thru the screening. It's redundant.

Ok, I'll try that. Just out of curiousity, exactly where have I been putting the models if this works? EDIT: Nope, still the same old blocky corvette.
-
Space battles will be in 2.5D. All capital ships (as in, not a fighter class) will move on the same plain, except when avoiding colliding into other capital ships. Fighters move more freely around the ships.
-
Hmm, I must be a cluts or something, but I don't seem to be able to install the new models. The ships are still looking just as crappy. So, this is how I do it: I download a shipfile (let's say the Corellian Corvette) I open the zipfile and extract the RMD file into the Import catalog. So far so good. I then doubleclick the RebModImporter executable. It finds the RMD file and shows the "Which Model Would You Like To Replace" window. I choose the Corvette and press OK. The program tells me the process has succeded, but when I fire up the game to have a look, the same model is still used. I've put the program (RebModImp) in the Star Wars Rebellion folder, and the ini file for it says location=..\tactical.dll and saveas=..\tactical.dll. I've even tried to move all the files for the program, including the Import catalog, into the Rebellion catalog, and edited the ini file by removing a dot. Still nothing. So, what am I doing wrong?

Hmm, not sure I follow. I thought maybe you ment put it in the Extra Info section, there it works perfectly, but of course it doesn't show up on the forums. And there's still something left in my signature I am not able to get rid of. Why does the Signature option have the HTML format if the forums don't handle it? EDIT: Oh, crap, that profile. I got it.

Rogue Squadron was more of an Arcade rather than a flight simulator. Further more, it is not surprising seeing it was mainly aimed at the consoles. Not that Rogue Squadron is bad or anything, don't get me wrong.

Did you count your Clones before they where hatched?
JanGaarni replied to Moriarty101's topic in EAW General Discussion
Disappointed? Yes. Discouraged from getting the game? Not a chance. We could use clearing up the whole "Will the game end at ANH?" thing you sparked though, Delphi. Did you mean the game when you said that, or the tech tree? I'm under the impression the game will end when you reach ANH, that's why I'm disappointed. So I can't get any more disappointed by your answer. -
Yeah, screws can be a pain in the ass. sorry, couldn't resist.

Shield Generators or Sensor Domes, Mystery solved.
JanGaarni replied to Stellar_Magic's topic in EAW General Discussion
Exactly. Noone in their right mind thinks that the 2 A-Wings we see destroy one of the domes carries as much firepower as the entire rebel fleet that is involved in the Battle of Endor. Cause the scene comes right after Admiral Acbar orders the fleet to concentrate firepower on the Executor. There went some time between the order was given till the sensor dome blew, several minutes actually. But the movie doesn't reflect this propperly, which is a shame. -
It's on Friday I'm afraid. I could run by your request with DMUK, but I cannot promise anything.

I think for the Executor model you almost just have to scale it down. I mean, at 11 times the lenght of an ISD, this would become a huge ship, perhaps so huge that it would cover the entire battlefield in space. If this is the case, we should ask ourselfs, do we really need it to be to scale?

Shield Generators or Sensor Domes, Mystery solved.
JanGaarni replied to Stellar_Magic's topic in EAW General Discussion
Yes, I've heard this aswell. But I seem to recall they protected only the domes themselfs. Its destruction caused a disruption in the rest of the bridge emitters (or the relay system) which caused the shield to stay down long enough for the A-wing pilot to crash into the bridge. But bottom line is, the shields must have been, atleast temperarly, down by the time the 2 A-Wings moved in on one of the domes. -
The ISD_v2 download does not contain an .rmd file as stated (appearantly it's the exact same file as the ISD file). Also, the SSD_v2 file seems corruptive, I can not extract it. These 2 files are the 2 upgrades I was mostly looking forward to install. They were actually the reason for me to look for some new upgraded models for Rebellion to begin with, so if a speedy fix can be done, I'd be very much happy. EDIT: Hmm, while I'm asking questions, what is messing up my sig?

Bad news about the game....but hey! do not be dissapointed!!
JanGaarni replied to Eduardo's topic in EAW General Discussion
Hear hear. I could not, quite litteraly, put it any better into words than how Makwu just put it. In fact, I am positive I could not have put it even equally as good. Minor details like this is not a game breaker for me, it will not put me off from buying the game. It has too much potential to keep me occupied for hours on end for me to not atleast try it out. But with over 10 years of Star Wars gaming (first propper Star Wars game with, then, decent grafics, would be X-Wing), I would love to just once be able to play a game that has put a 100% effort into details aswell. Currently, the most accuratly detailed Star Wars game out there, is a fan Mod for HomeWorld2: Warlords. As for pushing the game release back, there could be any number of reasons for that discission. -
Just added in an extra line.

1. Modding of Empire at War means, 1 or more ordinary guys and girls like you and me (meaning you don't have to be a developer, though having basic computer and programming skils helps which pretty much excludes me ) tinker with the game to modify it into something else, or add new units, or change or improve existing units, or all of the above mentioned. Do you have to download a Mod? Not at all. But in some cases it can bring a whole new game to you based on the original games engine. And they are usually freeware. Modding games is a hobby for most people. Star Wars Warlords is a Mod for the game HomeWorld 2. Basically it replaces all the original ships with Star Wars ships, aswell as adding a myriad of other Star Wars ships, new sounds, and new effects (like turbolaser bolts, laser cannon bolts, ion bolts, etc....). Mods of this kind, once they are installed, has their own executable file in order to activate them. They usually do not, scuse my language, fuck up the original game. EDIT: You can find Mods that will override the original game though too. 2. Legacy of War is a Mod which will be based on Empire at War. 3. Imperial Assault is another Mod.

Alright, then take my answer on LFN as a basis: What is it that you don't understand about modding then?

Rumors of the SSDs involvemnt have been false.
JanGaarni replied to Vader89's topic in EAW General Discussion
Story-wise is not the issue here though. It's the silly idea that you can replace weaponary and put other shit on established vehicles and ships. -
I believe your question was answered multiple times here, Jmaster. And so far the answeres you are getting here is pretty much the same.

JanGaarni replied to Vader89's topic in EAW General Discussion
I've been readin thru some Previews, and in one of them I read that you apperantly are able to modify your ships to carry different armaments and even add extra shields. Personally I don't care too much about that kind of things. I want a Star Wars experience, not some Alternate Universe. Sure, the Alternate comic stories are fun to read, but they're not part of Star Wars. They are just a bunch of "What ifs...". -

Wait a second, isn't that model just like an ISD mkII? And if my eyes arn't deciving me, I think I clearly can see that the heavy battery on the side are of the ISD mkII make (2 turrets on a joint huge turret base, each having 4 barrels). If so, then why are they marked Ion Cannon Batteries? The mkII got rid of the one turret ( 1 on each side, at the rear) and replced it with a heavy turbolaser battery instead. Petro, please, re-read the history books and technical specifications if this is the case. I have a feeling this game isn't going to be modelled as well as I had thought. -
Express your opinion on the timeline tech news here.
JanGaarni replied to Teradyn_pff's topic in EAW General Discussion
Err, the Tech Tree don't work that way, Naja. It's not about when you see them first in the movie, but when they were deployed in Star Wars Lore. The only ones deployed after ANH from the list you provided, is the Interdictor and the A-Wing. -

Yeah, I'm refering to the cards. Obviously.
