  1. To be fair, I believe Rebellion got it right though.
  2. Someone inform Petroglyph about this. I'm tired of seeing games do the same mistake over and over and over again.
  3. Many names have been used on different ships.
  4. Yes, we'll have to see.
  5. No, Lucas is a very simple minded guy, I agree. But since noone in the movies claim it to be the Death Star, the same Death Star we see in ANH, and since we have so much more history about Star Wars to be concidered, there's nothing conflicting about it not being a seperate entity from the ANH DS.
  6. Same here, I reported the new 19km value upgrade for the Executor on StarWars.com. You'll find it in the History of the 5 mile Fallacy page.
  7. It is indeed a fansite, but it's the best fansite out there seeing he's got access to stuff. I usually go by what this man says over anything else, cause I trust it to be well researched. Even better than StarWars.com, which you would assume didn't make any misstakes. But it has taken them over 10 years to establish that the Executor is around 11-12 miles long, something he has been sure of since 1995.
  8. Since we're talking about designs and stuff, I noticed while looking for the Home One in the many movies that are out, that the ISDs array between the globes are wrongly modelled. Unless we are able to produce the ISD mkII, the ISD mkI has the array mounted uppwards, not horizontally like the ISD mkII. ISD mkI Tower ISD mkII Tower
  9. Star Wars Technical Commentaries Go to Death Stars, then scroll down till you see the catagory Great Weapon.
  10. Indeed. Though I find, when there is no other choise than to speculate, Saxton does a hell of a good job at it.
  11. Well, there are 2 very well researched and calculated values on the net, one done by Curtis Saxton, which has come to the conclusion it is 900km wide, and another one who's page I don't remember, but who pokes believeable holes in Saxtons measurements and claims it to be 260km or something. Either way, they both agree the first DS is 120km, and both agree that the second is larger than what official secondary sources has claimed. Personally, I'm leaning towards Saxtons measurements since he has access to much of the notes and stuff concerning the making of the Death Star model for RotJ. But the other guy do lead a convincingly argument. Anyway, about the Great Weapon:
  12. Actually, the one you see in Ep III is the one the Seperatists were building, the Great Weapon. Tarkin had just captured it. Construction on the ANH Death Star didn't start untill years later.
  13. Hahahaha, I've experienced something similar. Day of Defeat (not source): The old maps, Charlie I think it's called, you know, the "Omaha Beach" look alike thingy? Anyway, we were pinned down by sniperfire and other unfriendly projectiles, and our snipers were crap. Someone I knew was a good shot yelled out "SOMEBODY GIVE ME A BLOODY SNIPER RIFLE!!". So I replied "I'll go get you one!" Fought my way up the beach, over the sand wall (with the barbed wires we have to blow up to get thru), took a right to the ditch leading from the right bunker (looking from the beach) to the mortar, went thru the whole in the wall and entered the bunker, killed the sniper laying next to the bunker overlooking the beach, picked up the rifle, dodging bullets left and right, killing any enemy I see, get down to the wall where I meet a fellow team mate who want's to get in. I was about to back up to give him room, but before I manage to do it, HE SHOTS ME!!!!! I've never been more mad at a fellow player in my entire life, but right there and then I could have strangled someone. Here I've been fighting my way up topside, thru enemy fire and people, aquired a sniper rifle, fight my way down again and almost make it, and I get shot by someone on my own team. Can you imagine how frustrating that can be when you are that close to have done something as unique a feat like that? I rarely lose it and curse out to people, but right there and then words were flying not appropriate to retype on here.
  14. Funniest moment I've had is me and a couple of friends in SWG were destroying Bol lairs on Dantooine to earn money. Easiest way was to chase off the Bols around the lair and then blow it up. But one stubborn one refused to budge, finally I got tired of it coming back so I charged at it, screaming and yelling and firing my blaster, and by God it worked. So I chased it off and followed it up a small slope, where at the top I had to quickly turn around cause 4 more Bols I hadn't noticed from down below started charging at me. I quickly ran down again, yelling to my friends to run like hell. At first they didn't understand what I was yelling about, until they saw the train of 5 Bols (including the one I was chasing at first ) on my tail. That was probably the funniest death I've ever experienced in SWG. I have pictures too somewhere. They are reconstructions, so they arn't as good as the actual event.
  15. I'm curious .... where have people read that the game will end when the Death Star is destroyed? If that's the case, then simple solution would be "Don't build it!".
  16. Just an FYI: My dream job is not the same as the job I have. Just so that is clear.
  17. I didn't think the game would go to the end of RotJ. I thought the game would go on till you lost or won.
  18. The Mon Cal in the game arn't of the Home One design. Mon Cal isn't the ships class designation, merely a nick name, like the Imperial Star Destroyers. They are called Mon Calamari Cruisers because they are built by the Mon Calamaris, same as the Imperial Star Destroyers are called that because they are built by the Empire. That's why you come across terms like MC40a classes, and MC80 and MC80a classes, and MC90a classes, and Imperator SD, and Victory SD and etc.....
  19. First of all, you don't have to give an answer to something that's already been given an answer to, by a Petro guy nonetheless. Secondly: Now hold on one minute. The AT-TE was not invented by Petroglyph, but by the people who made the movies. I'm talking about EU created ground vehicles here, on the rebel and Imperial side. And for the OT era, not the Prequels era. Spaceships, we got a whole plethora of those already, so why create new ones (broadside, and that other ship, I don't know which side it's supposed to be on)? Ground vehicles on the other hand is a whole nother story. That is what my point was about.
  20. Good thing it's only equiped with 29 turbolaser cannons, compared to the ISD's 60 or so (plus 12 heavy ones).
  21. You would almost certaintly also have to scale its size down, as such a large ship would take up alot of space in the space battles.
  22. The logical choise would be to make the ground attack and space attack 2 seperate attack commands. Obviously, moving your ships from 1 friendly planet to an unfriendly one would result in automatical armed space combat if enemy space forces are present in orbit. If you figure that this is not a battle you can win, or will result in un-acceptable casualties, then you have the option to retreat. But maybe Delphi can shed some light on this? I'm not sure I understand what sort of game dynamics this RTS will follow anymore.
  23. Yeah, uhm, I think that NDA only applies to the guys working for this forum, as they are more likely to be in the clear on any secrets than a normal poster ... as has already been proven with the whole SSD debacle. Fosh, I was of course, kidding. Why are my jokes today so poorly understood.
  24. So basically, they've taken over the forums ... Emperor style. I like it.
  25. I am alittle dissapointed, but I doubt it'll keep me from buying the game. It's still a promising game in my mind, even though it's alittle too restrictive for my taste.
