  1. Hmm, I've never had a bombardment take out shields. Oh and in bombardment if they have a couple level two turrets and you are a small fleet, you will never hit anything, and half your fleet will be gone in a single mistake. I hate those things so much.
  2. Well technically, I like the leadership bonus much more than the ships.
  3. It might be more fun to do it your way, but I don't like to lose
  4. Decoys do little more on a Jedi Training mission than on a Diplomacy. Decoys are meant to be used for offensive missions(Sabotage, Espionage, Incite Uprising). Any missions you do on planets you already have control of need no decoys. Typically the only way missions on your planets can be foiled are traitors or assasination attempts. Subdue Uprising I'm not so sure about. I just usually take Thrawn and the other leaders aboard the orbiting fleet to perform the mission without decoys. I don't think they help. Back to Jedi Training though. As the Empire I do not train Jedi. The message comes up, I just say "That's nice" and remember the name. Vader is too valuable to lose for 150 days. As the Rebellion though, I don't value Luke as much. He may be an okay diplomat, good saboteur/spy, but I have enough of them. I'll send him away for those 6 months. I just send Luke as I find the sensitives. I don't wait for a pile of them. Then, if you do, you are without a huge chunk of your personel, plus, with my luck, It takes me longer than the time it takes to do the training to find the sensitives. I really don't usually bother with Force Sensitives all too much.
  5. I get the same thing. One click and he shuts up, even though the "But I've prepared an excellent briefing for you" gets annoying faster than the briefing itself does. Right click on him, hit translate counterpart and he wont say a word. Also you can hit the Post Messages silently button in the message box and R2 or that wierd ugly thing wont make a sound either. Top 5 reasons to play the Empire- 1. 3PO is annoying 2. 3PO is annoying 3. 3PO is annoying 4. 3PO is annoying 5. Better ships.
  6. Well, the fighters move around like they normally would but they always face the same way. At least when your zoomed far enough away they're only coloured dots. The graphics really suck, but it isn't as bad as the others may make it out to seem. The only thing I can say is DONT watch that new Empire at War video. If you do and then buy Rebellion, you will cry. But it's bearable. The control in the battles only takes simple tactics on deciding who to kill first. example- Take out the Interdictor first so you can get away(Interdictors have Gravity wells that keep your fleet from fleeing in case you didn't know) and stuff. The battle screen is not important, but you cant just do the "imediate results" thing. I had 2 lancer frigates, 5 defender squadrons, an ISD and 2 VSDs and I lost against 4 squadrons of X-wings thanks to that stupid thing. Anyways, back to the graphics, they are crap, but they are bearable. Even how bad they look, seeing a massive Imp fleet slowly glide towards a corvette or two still makes you laugh maniacally. Wait, huh. That's just me? Ahh what the hell?
  7. I disagree that you don't send people on Death Star missions if you value there lives, thats what saving and restarting for(as long as it's single player). I do that all the time for even the simplest things example- Bombarding a planet with a ground based battery. Second about Yavin. I don't worry about Yavin untill everything is settled in the Core Worlds. If the Rebellion has any significant strongholds take them first. When your playing against easy though, Yavin is almost always the Rebel HQ.
  8. I'm not 100% sure either, but since the resources are random, a set importance wouldn't make sense. What I think is something like a Death Star attack destroying a system would affect the galaxy in different amounts depending on the systems importance. "You are far too trusting. Dantooine is too remote to make an effective demonstration, but don't worry. We'll deal with your Rebel friends soon enough." - Tarkin Don't mind me, I like to quote.
  9. You know, I haven't done too much work with RebED(just being lazy and adding 40 advanced shipyards to Coruscant and making it so you don't need to research) But when I was looking at ships I was seeing if there was a way to change names. I didn't look too hard, but I never found one. When you replace Ackbar's card with Obi-Wan's for example, he is still called Ackbar. I'm not sure you can change the names, but I'm not sure.
