I would like to know if we could make a petition that everybody could sign to try and convince Lucasarts to make the game.

Look at it from this point of view. In the film they would hardly wait a week cause it would be too long. But in the game it would be much less strategic if you didn't have to guess the enemy fleet would go next. You have to understand the programers.
