  1. Hmmm.... I managed to put some textures to my model, and I also managed to insert it in the game... It looks OK, problem is that the game crashes, after the battle is over(not before or during). Any solutions? I used 3-4 .bin files for my .x file model.
  2. I didn't export my model in 3ds format, because my gmax only exports in .md3 (quake) format. Before I export, I selected all my model's parts,(with the textures on them) and saved them as "GROUP 1". Then, at the .md3 export menu, I chose: The following frames: GROUP 1 Next 2 lines I left clear, Position relative to Tag: tag_floor Next 3 options, I removed the ticks. My model looks OK at LithUnwrap preview, but when I save it to .3ds format, it looses the textures. How can I keep the textures?

  4. For "SWReditor" check this site: http://lemelisk01.tripod.com/id5.html
  5. I have the very same problem... I can't manage to apply any textures, no matter how many times I tried master Mask's tutorials Look at my new Firespray. I managed to apply some textures using gmax, then I exported my model to .MD3 format. I loaded the .MD3 format to my LithUnwrap, and the textures appeared just fine in the preview. The problem starts here: when I save my model to .x or .3ds format, my textures disappear! http://img118.exs.cx/img118/3732/ssl13on.th.jpg http://img118.exs.cx/img118/324/ssl28jl.th.jpg HELP US MASTER MASK, YOU ARE OUR ONLY HOPE...
  6. When I play alone against the computer, I usually: - Lower the building and maintenance cost, to build faster, - Don't change the Shield strength and recharge rate, detection,Troop and Fighter capacity stats, - I usually keep the hyperdrive as it is, but increase the sublight speed, so that the tactical battle is faster... A good way is to raise All ships's sublight by 3-4, so the balance stays the same - I leave maneuverability and weapon stats as they are, - I always increase the weapon Recharge rate. It makes the tactical battle faster, more realistic and more interesting...
  7. The first column is quite clear: Construction and Maintenance costs (lower them for faster building), Hull strength is how much damage your ship can take AFTER the shield is down, before it gets blown, damage control is how fast your ship gets repaired after a battle (raise that for faster recovery), Shield strength is how many blows your shield can take before collapsing, Shield recharge rate is how fast your shield will be raised after it gets hit a few times (if your shield is destroyed, it doesn't recharge). Detection Rate, I'm not sure, but the higher the better , Hyperdrive is how fast your ship goes from planet to planet (lower is better), while Sublight speed is how fast your ship moves during a tactical battle (Higher is better). Maneuverability helps you escape some shots and tractor beams, and you turn around faster (Higher is better). Fighter and troop capacities are obvious, and Weapon recharge rate is how fast your ship fires (higher is better). It is very difficult to balance the stats... better leave them be, or change them carefully..
  8. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!! Make love, not war...
  9. C'mon guys! This problem hasn't been solved for months! What's wrong? There are many people out there just waiting to post their cards! Can someone do smthing about it?
  10. In the new DVD collection, in the "Empire Strikes Back" film, when Leia, Lando and Chuwie are running around the corridors of Cloud city trying to escape, they have replaced the corridor walls with windows, showing out-side to the city scenery..
  11. I use a 3d program called "Amapi 3D", not so known, but easy to use and saves models in .3ds format. Sometimes I also use Milkshape 3D. My "Firespray" has around 15000 polygons and 7800 verticles, which I think are too much, but I'm trying to cut them down abit. When I use the Firespray in my games, it is so small (like the Lambda Shuttle) that you can't see much detail anyway. Therefore, I don't really have to texture it, just paint it abit, and it still looks good.. Mask, I will install a plate under the engines, and also make two cuts on the round ship-base, where the wings come out.. Krytos, are you making those ships for a new TC?
  12. The models look excellent Krytos. You must have a good 3d program, they look nicely shiny and smooth Don't they have a very large polygon number? Where did you find their designs? Are they suppose to be later-era ships? I'm just finishing my Firespray (Slave-1) model, check it out and tell me your opinion.. It still needs some work on the back-engine-floor.. http://img145.exs.cx/img145/6791/119uw.th.jpg http://img145.exs.cx/img145/781/335xa.th.jpg http://img145.exs.cx/img145/6250/447ir.th.jpg http://img145.exs.cx/img145/212/225il.th.jpg
  13. Hey Mad78, how can I put pictures in my posts? I mean real pics, not links to other sites with pics..
  14. "Empire strikes Back" is always a good choice...Besides, it has all that snow and ice and X-mas feeling
  15. "Home alone" is a good X-mas movie. Some days ago I watched an old western "The good, the bad and the ugly", not an X-mas movie, but a true classic. I always enjoy watching it.. I also like that X-mas movie with Bill Marrey, where he is a rich but bad-tempered TV-station owner, and he gets visited by 3 ghosts(past, present and future). I think it is called "Ghost party" or smthing..
  16. Great work Mask, I particularly liked the new Golan III. I allways used it in my games, but without the textures it looked too simple. Now it looks wonderful.
  17. Mask, can you please explain to me briefly what "template picture" and "palette" means? I don't quite understand the terms... When I read your tutorials I don't understand the fraze "If you don't already have a template picture for the palette used in tactical, you can used the picture I've put into this tutorial's archive. If your graphics program supports it, I suggest you open the template and save it's palette with your program. This way you apply the palette later to any other picture. Alternatively you can also copy your image into the template picture and it will be automatically converted to the right palette (I advise against that, though)." Can you explain it to me abit differently? I would greatly appreciate it..
  18. How can that be??? It used to be normal...any ideas?
  19. Does my Avatar-pic look abit large, or is it just my computer?
  20. The Arc-Hammer pic is the actual 3d model. For the Galak card, I took the nose and mouth from a game-pic, and made the skin, hair, eyes and uniform myself.
  21. I have the same problem... My "assign" button does not turn active. I also tried changing my UV mapping (planar, box, etc) but still nothing.
  22. Check out my Arc-Hammer model (in-game pic) and tell me what you think...It has no textures yet, I'm still trying to apply some http://img124.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img124&image=s8ppic2.jpg http://img124.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img124&image=i9xpic3.jpg I also did some character cards.. Here is Galak Fyyar. http://img78.imageshack.us/my.php?loc=img78&image=galakfyyar11eo.jpg
  23. I already constructed a 3d model of the "Arc-Hammer", and I am also constructing a Firespray(Slave-1) model. I also make personnel-cards, I made one of Galak Fyyar, Bria Tharen, General Tyr Taskeen and Brenn Tandor. How is your Rebellion Reloaded program going Jahled? Need any drawing-painting-3d construction help?
  24. I read all the tutorials, but I still can't manage to apply textures. I use gmax, LithUnwrap, Amapi 3D and Milkshape. When I run a 3d program, I can apply textures and then preview my model WITH textures. The problems start when I try to save it. If I save it in .3ds or .ms3d format, and then try to convert them to .x, the textures are lost in the .x file. Do I save the textures seperately to another format? (e.g .bmp) In the tutorials, when you say "save the model", in what format do you mean? Moreover, I have a different LithUnwrap 1.3 version, and it doesn't have the options you show in your tutorial (it doesn't have the Tools--UV unwrapping option)
  25. I am having difficulties with applying textures to my 3d models, so I use them naked or simply painted. Have a look at my Arc-Hammer and tell me your opinion. It's abit crude, needs some work, but the "Rebellion" game doesn't handle details so good anyway.. http://img124.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img124&image=clipboard9zg.jpg http://img124.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img124&image=i9xpic3.jpg http://img124.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img124&image=s8ppic2.jpg
