I would be more than willing to test as well

It is my experience that... 80% of the time the minor Jedi is killed by the emperor and injured by Vader. I think about the only time they are not is when I send they on a mission with someone who is not a Jedi and has a very high espionage rating.

How realistic are the last 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi
masterjojobinks replied to igorimp's topic in General Discussion
Sorry about the attack on your knowledge. It has a lot less to do with your comments and a lot more to do with other things. The comment made in the movie was supposed to be a lie from Han, which is per GL. You are right they (Lucas Arts) did come up with a plausible explanation that explains it away. But there is no explanation for why the rebels won at endor. Basicly he whole post started with a bunch of empire loving folks that just could not believe there fleet could be beat . Hence the number of turbo lasers on the Executor. I spoke up just to give my rebel side of the story and how I think it was possible. However, even I had to point out specific details that lend credibility to my hypothesis. Anyway… Sorry about letting out some frustration on your comments. -
Has anyone tried to figure out what the attribute levels would need to be to say get a successful espionage mission to a planet with a general (100-120 leadership) and 6 storm troopers?
-
I use six sullstans and two gencors on almost all planets. This stops invasion. On production planets I will use nine sullstans and three gencors. On real important planets I will use three gencors, 1-2 turbolaser batteries and 12 Mon cals and six sullstans and 6-12 X wing fighters with general and commander. With the empire it is the same except I use storm troopers until dark troopers are available and tie defenders (don’t bother until they are available). Now keep in mind this is only against the computer. I don’t know what I would do against a human player? To many unknowns but would be close to the same.

HobbieKlivian, If you think you know so much about Star wars then why the brash comment? If you know that much about star wars then you would understand the relevance of this conversation. As with any story there are aspects that need explaining. I don't see why you have such a problem with several rational folks discussing an outcome from a science fiction movie. But I am sure in your vast knowledge of Star wars you have all ready rationalized why Han had made the kessel run comment. In the Star Wars universe you have established trade routes that are safe for hyperspace travel. The Kessel Run is a certain route used to smuggle or transport glitterstim at a set speed. Transports and smugglers would cut some distance out of the 18-parsec run. Han was able to cut it down to “less than 12-parsecs” (your missing number) by running closer to the Maw Cluster than anyone else. All of this information (as Scathane said) plus a lot more is available on http://www.Starwars.com. But in your vast star wars knowledge you know that. Sorry for all the sarcasm but I felt it was necessary. Scathane, Thanks for the prompt discipline on the swearing -
Fighters can not attack the DS with a DS shield on the planet.

Would love to continue but am gone till Monday. Have a nice weekend.

Scathane Please realize I am not trying to diss what is being said. I was simply adding an explanation on why it is so hard for us guys to accept what is being said. This is entirely theoretical. Gravity and other laws of physics are established and can be proven to be. Parallel universe can not be proven to be... as of yet. That is why it is hard for me to accept as reality. If they prove it great, reality changes as we know it.

I could sit here and find flaws in what the rebels did. But why, I like the rebels. Besides they must not of none to much wrong, they won -
Just because the worlds scientists regard something as reality does not mean it is correct. If you take evolution for example. That is regarded as fact by most of the worlds scientists and is taught as fact in school text books. But it is only a theory. Parallel dimensions are also only a theory.

Does anyone know if the DS uses any of its turbo lasers? Can you assult the DS with a capital ship or does it just sit there in the back round?

Troops On A Planet And Detection Rating
masterjojobinks replied to Lebarronn90's topic in General Discussion
I don't know but I sure would like that one found out. Wonder if one of the SWR Guru's would know. -
When I do a sabotage missing what is the most important attribute? Combat, espionage, or leadership? When I do espionage mission what is the most import attribute? Combat, espionage, or leadership? When I do diplomacy I know it is about diplomacy only. When I do an uprising what is the most importance attribute? Combat, espionage, or leadership? When I do an uprising put down what is the most importance attribute? Combat, espionage, or leadership? Does it matter if any character is a rank at the start of the mission? What affect does having a general or commander on the planet you are trying to sabotage or spy on? Which missions do the attributes go up on? I know diplomacy.
-
What good does the Decoy do? Is it better you assign the higher valued person to a decoy or to the mission? Does the person that is a decoy get any attribute raises? Does it make since to use the troops as decoys or regular mission?

I just had the weirdest thing happen to me. The AI built a DS without intervention from RebEdit. Below I say how it happened. I have been playing this game for years and had never lost to the AI player either side. I generally allow the AI 200 days of straight play without doing anything except moving people from Yavin. This give the AI a good head start, though it never mattered. Still killed the empire without any problem. I have really looked for a challenge lately so I have investigated RebEdit. All though with this game there was only a couple of minor changes. Namely the Golan III BS for both sides and Home One in place of the Mon Cal Cruiser. (Now I do understand that Home One for a Mon Cal is not quite fare but I was just testing.) Though I did not give the AI 200 days this time, I did give it a huge head start. Apparently I gave it a huge advantage. I took the small fleet that I had and did civilian orbital bombardment of all but one of my planets. They all suggessfully went to the Empire with most every planet in the core sectors. This was an interesting start since I was about –440 in maintenanace points. So I start losing things. Lost all of my fleet except on Golan and one medium transport and one corvette. I also decided not to get any planet in the core until all recruiting was done. It took me a little while to get back to 0 maintenance points (300 days). By that time I had finished recruiting and starting getting a couple of planets back in the core just to get some maintenance points so I could build something. During the 300 days I did get a bulk transport and colonized the sector my headquarters was in. I got a couple of the core planets back on my side with diplomacy and started building a construction planet and training planet in my home sector and starting colonizing the sector next to me. After getting my construction yards built I starting building GenCore I for my home sector. Soon after (about 50 days) the empire started taking planets in my home sector. I had to fight to get the GenCore’s there in time. Still lost a couple and had to go beat them down to get them back. I also started a construction planet in the next sector over to start build some base for my maintenance points so I could build a fleet. After a while, I had all the planets that where neutral in the core on my side and started protecting them with GenCore’s and troops. Lost a couple of those too. Anyway shortly after that the empire found my home plant and proceeded in taking my ships away from me. Bad battle I had a corvette, medium transport, Golan III, dreadnaught, and a nebellion cruiser. The imps had of course an interdictor, a victory class SD, two ISDs, and a carrier, and a couple star galleons. All loaded with men and ties. Well I knew I was toast so I did what I could to take out the interdictor and escape. Well I did escape but only with the frigate. It was at that point (about 500 days) that I started building a ship building planet and stop working on a maintenance base. Had about 800 points to spend. Built 5 gunship, and started home one. At that point I starting build a ship planet in the sector next door and started two nebellion frigates. About this time I got a natural disaster on Ithor and lost my two GenCore's and here came the imps, lucky chance. They assaulted and then came after my small fleet. Home one was not finished yet so just a nebellion frigate, 1 escort carrier, and 5 Gunships against 4 ISD, 2 VSD, 5 lancer frigates, a couple of escort carriers and 4 gallons. They where ready for fight and an assault. Well I fled and went back. The one thing about the AI I have never had it bombard a planet with 2 GenCore's. So it left and head elsewhere. I got Home one and started 10 a-wings. Started the escort carriers at my other shipyard. Got those and the a-wings about the same time. Started 3 liberator cruisers and two cc-7700. I figured with this I had a decent fleet. (900 days) About that time the imp came back to reclaim the two planets back they assaulted. I took my home fleet and went to protect the two GenCore’s in hyperspace to Ithor had just gotten my first liberator and cc-7700. Much to my surprise as soon as I left my head quarts a fleet show up. So I now have two fleets attacking two planets at once. Well I was not worried about my head quarters because it had 2 GenCore II’s and a turbo laser battery, general and commander. Well I sent my fleet to the other unprotected planet that had a fleet on the way. Before my fleet could get there I had the strangest thing happen. I got the movie cinematic come up that showed a death star. This is the first time the A.I. has ever built a DS since I have played the game. Now I was going to use RebEdit latter in the game to make sure the A.I. built one but I have not touched the DS using RebEdit. Well to conclude the story it used the DS laser to destroy my home world in turn destroying my headquarters and capturing Mon Mothma. The game was over… Oh Luke got captured trying to espionage Coriscant to up his abilities so he could train the other 5 Jedi candidates.

How realistic are the last 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi

Han did not think the shield generator was under defended hence his comment "Tougher places than this". Keep in mind the rebels went to the back door. After spending several years in the US Army I know that regardless of how well defending an area is there is always a way in, I've done it I know. The biggest way into a defended area is to rely on the complacency of the officers and lower enlisted. The easiest ways to become complacent is to be on guard duty for so long with no action and have an overconfident in being able to defeat your enemy. Being on guard duty waiting for the DS II to be built with no action would cause even the best to become complacent. But lets assume the legion just got assigned to endor for the trap and had just arrived. That would make the commander over confident. If I was in command, I would have had all available entrances guarded. Obviously the bunker Han went to did not have a sizable guard force (tactical error). Your implication was that they are in ambush. If that is the case then there is a flaw in the commander here as well. Now remember, Han got into the bunker before the imps happened by (either on patrol or en route from the garrison). When you set up an ambush you don't let your enemy get to the objective before you attack. In this case the bunker a very defendable position (tactical error). Han was putting up charges when the imps showed up. In real life he could have blown the charges and may have done sufficient damage to take the shield down. Since this is a movie all the heroes could not die. Would not sell tickets. So if they where in ambush then they screwed up by not attacking in time. That is why I don't believe they where in ambush on the ground. Now where they on patrol or where there 60 other entrances that had to be guarded and the contingent of guards where just arriving... who can so. This is all just a hypothesis -

I just read through this entire post and I must comment. Keep in mind these are just my two cents worth. Let me start by saying the ending could not be any different and I liked it. It is my opinion that the Episode IV, VI are set up with the good guys always win because of episode III and V. Like one of the above posts said you must have a good guys win or you don't sell tickets. No tickets no money. No money no EU or prequels. The ground battle. A couple of things. I have not seen the movie in about 8 months so... The emperor was overconfident. Luke that told him that in the thrown room. I believe that Thrawn's theory was also valid. He (Thrawn) did prove it worked, with Joruus C'baoth. Also Rebellion takes that same theory into account. Namely the leadership bonus while the emperor in on Coruscant. But I don't think the Emperor affected the ground commanders like he did the space commanders (Hence his overconfidence). So it is my contention that the Imps did spread out and search for the Rebels but still left a sizeable force at the main garrison. The Emperor was overconfident in the ground commander and he did the worst thing, went looking for trouble. Also the emperor did not expect the rebels to find the back door. Now from memory, Han finds the shield generator (with the Ewoks help) and makes the comment that I have gotten into tougher places than this. They where some distance away at that point. The Ewoks led the rebels to the back door. It had to be far enough away for the deflector shield to be completely out of view. They got into the bunker only to be taken over by one search party. Do I think that the search party (one of many searching the planet) could have been beaten by a bunch of Ewoks, Rebels and Chewie in an AT-ST? Yes, as for the Ewok traps, a little hard to explain... though they may have been for hunting? I think the rest of the troops where too far way to get there in time to be of any help. As for the explosion, the deflector shield was no where in sight. All they had to do was survive the one bunker exploding. The rest was underground heading for the main garrison. Now, as for the time frame of the space battle. Igorimp and Ricepr2001 had mentioned that the DS II recharge rate would have been a good indication of the time frame. There are too many unknowns in the DS II level of completion. Though I have these theories. First after two shots something went way wrong. Backup system that was not installed yet caused too big of a problem. Or second (I have not read any technical schematics on the DS, or any other ship, other than what I have seen in some of the games. So if I am way off let me know) that the propulsion systems on the DS II had not been completed. Since I don't believe that those lasers can be converged into a single beam other than in a straight line the DS II must have been able to rotate to target. The time it took to target a moving ship and reoriented the DS II could account for the only two blasts. Also adds some credibility to why the DS II did not target Home One and had to settle for a normal mon cal cruiser and a medium transport. As for the SSD hitting the DS II. The bridge was destroyed and ship out of control. It is conceivable the ship just flew right into the DS II. I know that the movie portrays it falling into it but for that to happen it would have been a MAJOR tactical blunder on the Imp side. -
What is the highest value you can put without causing a crash?
-
Being new to RebEdit, I was wandering the same thing. It took me several years to ever use the laser in battle. It is cool. It would be great to fix the recharge rate!!!!!

LA doesn't want people to loose interest waiting for the next book. I don't know how anyone could loose interest in SW.

I thought you where talking about something from a previous book that I had missed. I also did not realize that Keyes was the author. Though the Edge of Victory books where very good. I am eagerly awaiting Final Prophecy. Suppose to come out in November right?

Mask, I have been to your site and the tutorial how to import the models does not work. Nice site by the way. Also the model for home 1 version 2 the download file does not exist. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks

Ok I got the card installed but the 3-D picture is still the same as before? Where can I get the 3-d picture?
