sigh No joy, I use ResHack to open up Encytext.dll, I look in the RCData folder... I suspect that the entry for the MC-40a card (which replaced the Bulk Transport card) is in the 56xx-59xx range. The Alliance Fleet Carrier, the Corellian Gunboat, the Corellian Corvette and the Medium Transport all show up fine, the rest of the entries are binary gobbledygook...

Movies looked better before CGI.

Good to know. I'll give it a try tonight.

So I installed the MC-40a card and model and so far, so good! (did the Alliance ever use the MC-40, or only the MC-40a?) But the MC-40 card I am using has a very very short Encyclopedia entry with no information on the cost, the starfighter squadrons, the guns, etc. (and no room to enter it all into). I checked out the cardspace updates on The Mask's site and they overwrite all existing cards!!!!! I have already put a lot of work into my cards and would not look forward to the work of backing up the text of every single card and then copying it back again. So I was wondering how to go about editing the textra.dll and encytext.dll files directly. I have a hex editor (and I have resource hacker as well) and I have experience doing similar work with Star Trek: Birth of the Federation. ST:BOTF used hardwired offsets for each entry, so if you made an entry larger than it was "supposed" to be, it would overflow and mung up every entry beneath it. Is Rebellion the same way? What else do I need to know to accomplish this? Thanks!

So to use the same model for the ISD and the ISD II, I would only have to rename the ISD model I downloaded from your site, and then install it to the ISD II slot? (this is an old thread but I was actually wondering about this an hour or so ago)

Or: How finished would an unfinished Death Star have to be, to be considered a finished unfinished Death Star? I read that if a battle takes place in a system where a Death Star is being built, then you've got the unfinished Death Star taking pot shots at all of your nice shiny Mon Calamari cruisers. Cool! But does a certain amount of MAT have to be sunk into the thing before it is operational? In other words, if the Empire gets advance warning that a Rebel Fleet is on the way, can they start the construction of a Death Star the day before the fleet arrives and then have a Death Star II take part in the battle? That would be pretty vile...

Interesting post (although I've never read a single novel with Daala in it and remain in the dark about her character)! So if I understand correctly, "Grand Admirals" were in military circles what the Hands were in espionage circles?

I would have thought this impossible

I think that was the KDY-150. I tried that in one of my games - had one KDY-150 in each system - and I'm pretty sure it helped some, though I couldn't say how much. -

Well you've got Emperors, you've got the desert planet, you've got "spice", you've got Luke saying "Holy Maker" when he sees the Devastator firing upon the Tantive IV, and (in the final draft and IIRC in the novel) you've got Camie - Fixer's girlfriend - saying about Luke, "It (is) just Wormie on another rampage." And then there's the whole Jedi discipline = weirding way thing... I'm sure I could think of others, like Butlerian Jihad = Droid hatred...

I had just turned eleven years old when Star Wars came out so naturally it became the center of my Universe. I read everything "Star Wars" related I could get my hands on. One day I was browsing through a local bookstore and I noticed those two magic words on the cover of an issue of OUI magazine. So yes I was an eleven year old geek reading OUI magazine for the articles, er, article. Uhm, anyway. I read in that article that in 1972 or 1973 GL got high on qualuudes and read the entire Dune Trilogy in a single weekend! And thus, The Star Wars was born. A year later he produced a script and - needless to say - the story had undergone numerous changes. If you're a real glutton for punishment, you can read the successive scripts here.... ...here... ...and here. By 1976, the script was in pretty much its final form.

Lotsa changes... nothing uploaded to my geocities site yet, I still have a couple of "to do" things and I want to test everything out first. Might be a while. The good news is, I managed to find a site with a copy of Resource Hacker so now I finally have my own copy!!! Also last night I reinstalled Paint Shop Pro (4.14, I'm so cheap) and altered three cards... I didn't even look for the cards on line, it's been a while and I wanted to re-acquaint myself with PSP (see below). - - - done - - - The armor of the T.I.E. Fighter and Y-Wing starfighter were reduced by four points. The basic starfighter unit was reduced from a squadron of twelve to a flight of four. Naturally, the starfighter cost and maintenance was cut by two thirds, to reflect this. One was added to the MNT of T.I.E. Bomber and Y-Wing Flights. The fighter capacity of every ship was also tripled. And then a fighter capacity of '1' was given to the Carrack Cruiser! It seems the Carrack could have either Ion Cannon OR Laser Cannon. Ion Cannon dropped. The Corellian Corvette's Hull was reduced to 400. The Corellian Gunboat and Lancer Frigate were both insanely cheap. MAT increased by 50%. The Laser Cannon of the Corellian Gunboat, Lancer Frigate, and Assault Transport were all given range of 20. The Neb-B's fore and aft Laser Cannon were reduced from 180 to 150. The MAT and MNT costs of the Alliance carrier were reduced by one third (to 21 and 19). The Empire now starts the game with T.I.E. Bombers and does not need to research them. However, the Empire will not be able to build the Neb-B until it researches Ship Tech Level One. The Alliance HQ's two Y-Wing Squadrons were converted to six Y-Wing Flights. Coruscant's nine T.I.E. Fighter Squadrons were converted to twenty seven T.I.E. Fighter Flights . MAT and MNT costs of all starfighters doubled. Production of mines and refineries doubled. Production time for shipyards, const. yards and training facilities cut in half. Mon Cal, Dauntless and Bulwark renamed to MC-80a, MC-80b and MC-90 (it doesn't look anything like the MC-90, but that name is a lot better than "Bulwark Battlecruiser" (gag)). Remove planet from Corellian Corvette background. Remove the planet and the stupid Alliance symbol from the Alliance Dreadnought and make it buildable by both sides. Give Neb-B card an Imperial background. - - - to do - - - Replace the Bulk Transport card with the MC-40 Replace the Bulk Transport model with the MC-40 Replace the Imperial Dreadnought card with the Golan Replace the Imperial Dreadnought model with the Golan Make sure the Golan can't move Check into making the MC-80b and MC-90 look more like themselves... http://www.geocities.com/telamonian_teukros/Neb-B.bmp http://www.geocities.com/telamonian_teukros/Corvette.bmp http://www.geocities.com/telamonian_teukros/Dreadnought.bmp (Aaack! How do I get this thing to include inline images!) -
Wow I am in awe of those Reloaded pictures posted on the main page. I love the picture of the Noghri; first Noghri picture I've ever seen that I like. Jahled man, I'm sorry that I've taken weeks longer to get those voice files to you than I said I would, and I know it sounds familiar, but I got half of them done and then I had to drop everything for a while because I had two exams in six days. I also got a little bit obsessed with my latest round of Rebellion editing. So I will be working on finishing them up today. Besides it is a perfect time for it! There is a loud generator rumbling away across the street, the steam radiator in my room is whoosing and knocking and whistling, and my African Grey parrot (alone in the living room) is beeping and screeching like a demented Artoo unit. In other words, the ambience of a Rebel starfighter cockpit is being provided!

Um... Forgive the dumb question but... What's the default production rate for mines and refineries? Is it 5?

This link want you: http://www.erikstormtrooper.com/galacticbasic.htm?print=yes Jahled: for the first screen, something like this I get: surfiEg tHN ENt Understand I do not... Transliterate the second screen I can not, for "Battlestar Galactica" watch I must!

Well it's actually an urban legend: http://www.snopes.com/business/misxlate/nova.asp ...but one which was related to me in high school as if it was fact; that the Chevy Nova sold poorly in Mexico because "no va" = "won't go" in Spanish.
-
That reminds me, I've got to change my game so that the output/production of mines and refineries are doubled. If it's an across the board change then balance should be unaffected... right??? But yeah, I never bother with SSDs. I'd much rather have an Imp and two Vics, or three Vics and a carrier. Back when I was playing the Alliance all the time I think I built the Bulwark once (just because I never had before) and I built the MC-90ish (MC-100ish?) ship maybe two or three times. The big ships are just a waste of resources IMO. EDIT: I guess the "Mon Calamari Cruiser" is kinda like the MC-80a, the Dauntless is kinda like the MC-80b, and the Bulwark is kinda like the MC-90. I know this has been discussed before, I'm just talking to myself.

And every American schoolchild (from my generation at least) learned that naming a car Nova and then trying to sell it in Mexico wasn't such a great idea...

And don't forget about the CCG's Baron Papanoida card.
