  1. You can watch Episodes 21-25 (Season Three aka "Volume Two", 75 minutes long total) at: http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/promos/200503_starwars/ the server is twitchy and depending on the time of day you go there you may get weird results. Just keep trying, eventually you'll get through.
  2. I liked it, I finally saw it Saturday night (episodes 1-25) - what is this season three? I thought there were only two seasons, and then the sequel, RotS Much, much better than either Phantom Menace or AotC. I'm not a fan of that style of animation either, but the story was strong and my impression was that there seemed to be less "eye candy" and more dialog (maybe because the "special effects" shots, scenery shots etc. were disconcertingly brief). I HATED the way that Cartoon Network showed them originally, three minutes a week! Bizarre! I missed a couple and then I gave up on trying to follow it.
  3. Unfortunately (?) Ewoks are extinct.
  4. Akira didn't have much of a plot, great animation though (needless to say). Robot Carnival also had some stuff by the same animator. Best Japanimation movie I've ever seen was Grave of the Fireflies, a very good movie by any standard. Not sure if it would be considered "manga" though.
  5. I copied just about everything (including gdata) EXCEPT strategy.dll over to a laptop. The file's too honkin' big... I had concerns because the desktop's strategy.dll (though unaltered) has a recent time-stamp, dunno why. So the two machines were using strategy.dlls with totally different time-stamps, but a two-player game of Rebellion got started up without a problem.
  6. Well I've got an old Win98 PC, and I have hardware issues that make it impossible for me to do this. When I tried to use LithUnwrap to open up one of the VSD .x files, I got this error message: "DirectX 8.0 HAL device support is required to load X files. Try changing your display mode to 16-bit or 32-bit" All became clear when I went into DXDiag, which complained with this message: "Hardware accelerated Direct3D 8+ is not available because the display driver does not support it. You may be able to get a newer driver from the hardware manufacturer." I've got a Matrox Millenium II AGP, and I do have the latest driver. It's from 1999.
  7. Why thankiness Teukros for reminding me about Vangelis! You've just reminded me about the score from Bladerunner I possess. I wonder what rebellion is like with Bladerunner music?[/about to find out mode] Tales of the Future is actually what I use, instead of an alarm clock, to get myself out of bed in the morning. I wonder what the neighbors think.
  8. Do you have the Resource Hacker files and the Model Importer files in the same folder?
  9. Yeah, I was puzzled by that too.
  10. Starwars.com has a first lookat Outbound Flight, and a picture of the cover art. Looks good.
  11. Tales of the Future by Vangelis
  12. Speaking of the official Star Wars site, I was there last night and I was reading that there were T.I.E. Defenders at Endor? Did GL Photoshop a few of them in to his "special edition" of ROTJ?
  13. You can not resist the Power of a Side of 'taters...
  14. Yesterday I re-wrote the encyclopedia entries for the starfighter cards. The editing was done with Rebellion only and thus they are all <= the size of the original Rebellion Encyclopedia texts. Y-Wing Koensayr's Y-Wing is an aging but still superb attack starfighter. Well armored and agile, the Alliance's bomber mounts a hyperdrive, dual proton torpedo launchers, two ion guns, and a dual blaster turret. X-Wing Based on the successful Z-95 Headhunter, Incom's T-65 X-wing is more powerful, more heavily shielded, and more agile than its predecessor. Mounting a hyperdrive, quad blasters and a proton torpedo launcher, the X-Wing's survivability, firepower and ease of maintenance have made it a favorite of pilots and crews alike. A-Wing Easy to overheat and hard to maintain, the Dodonna/Blissex A-wing is nevertheless an important starfighter. Extremely fast and agile, armed with dual blasters and concussion missile launchers, and with a hyperdrive and an extensive sensor package, it is well suited for space superiority and hit and fade missions. B-Wing Designed by Admiral Ackbar, the Slayn & Korpil B-Wing is a new generation of attack starfighter. Heavily armored and mounting a small turbolaser, two proton torpedo launchers and three ion guns (as well as dual blasters), a single B-wing can threaten a small capital starship. TIE Fighter Sienar Systems T.I.E. Fighters make up the bulk of the Imperial starfighter corps. These small, lightly armored craft have no life support, shield generators, or hyperdrives making them cheap to produce and maintain in the large numbers necessary for their space superiority role. TIE Bomber A heavily armored attack starfighter, the Sienar T.I.E. Bomber is easily recognised with two pods between bent-wing radiator panels. One pod contains the pilot and Solar Ionization Reactor and the second pod contains the extensive weapons suite. The T.I.E. Bomber has no hyperdrive, life support or shields, making it cheap to build and easy to maintain. TIE Interceptor A great improvement over the T.I.E. Fighter, Sienar's T.I.E. Interceptor is more heavily armored and mounts quad blasters on its panels. A more powerful Solar Ionization Reactor has been installed making the Interceptor almost as fast and maneuverable as the Alliance's A-wing. However, it still lacks the shields, hyperdrive and life support systems found on most Alliance starfighters. TIE Defender Sienar's T.I.E. Defender is one of the few production fighters to be equipped with both a shield generator and hyperdrive system (although it still lacks life support). The Defender mounts considerable firepower in the form of proton torpedo and twin concussion missile launchers, two ion guns and four automatic blaster cannon which can target multiple enemies at once! Maneuvering thrusters are housed in the three odd shaped radiator panels which give the Defender maneuverability almost on the level of the Alliance's A-wing, with speed to match that of the T.I.E. Interceptor.
  15. I hear ya. For example, how do you rewrite into anything meaningful? But that's a project for another day
  16. Hmmm, meditate on Mask's wisdom, I must. But since reinstalling Rebellion the most recent time (last week) I have kept all changes, strictly confined to RebEd changes. Haven't touched ResHack at all. The only exceptions are the MC-40a and Golan III models I loaded using the Model Importer (and the Battlestation program). So yes Duro and Sessawenna are still misspelled and the card titles are funky and the encyclopedia entries are limited to the lengths of the original texts. But my priority is to get a stable TC that others can use in one or two player games. I can get ambitious (again) after that. Besides I think I have done a good job of making Encyclopedia entries which fit into those cramped spaces. I was working on my starfighter cards' texts yesterday, I might post them to the Ootini TC thread later today. The .reb file I was referring to was if you use RebEd to save your settings. Normally you would just accept the default of "include DLLs?" but it is a good idea to periodically NOT include the DLLs so that you have a settings only .reb file, just in case (so that if worst comes to worst, at least you won't have to spend hours re-entering and then verifying all of your settings again)
  17. My guess is that the Empire inherited starfighters with hyperdrives from the Old Republic but parceled them off to the Moffs. The T.I.E. Fighter didn't need a hyperdrive because it was a standardized design, used only for space superiority / antistarfighter defense, cheap as dirt and easy to maintain - and contracted out to a favored company. btw your typo made me think "Obi Bun: a cinnamon bun in the shape of a Jedi Master"
  18. I was reflecting just today on how at Yavin, the Imperial officers were doing their jobs. It didn't matter if GM Tarkin was certain of his invincibility, the Rebel's attack had been analyzed and the danger had been recognized. At that time, if not earlier, every available T.I.E. Fighter should have been scrambled. How many T.I.E.s? I'd just be guessing, but certainly more than hundreds. Possibly thousands.
  19. I've recently discovered the importance of keeping no-dll settings-only backup .reb files on my HD just in case... Also a good idea it is, to save every one of your cards so you can back up the encyclopedia text and/or images.
  20. Ootini! 1.79... Well the (computer controlled) Rebel Fleet had been playing possum for a while but it just showed up at Yaga Minor: 3 Carriers 5 Bulk Cruisers 21 Corellian Corvettes 11 Medium Transports 23 Dreadnaughts 2 MC-80b Heavy Cruisers (aka Dauntlesses) 71 Y-Wing Flights (almost 24 Squadrons!) 34 A-Wing Flights 41 B-Wing Flights 24 Naval Infantry Regiments 1 Regiment of Wookies Impressive and no doubt. But conspicuous by their absence are X-Wing Starfighters, MC-40a Light Cruisers, MC-80a Cruisers (aka Mon Cals), and weirdest of all, Alliance Army Regiments. It's weird because the MAT and MNT of all Army and Fleet Regiments are unaltered in my game... If you think you can help me get to the bottom of this, or if you're just interested, you can view a Word document listing all of the Ootini! ship and starfighter statistics, and tracking all of the other changes I have made to the game (right-click and Save As to download). EDIT: Same game, a hundred turns or so later, and my head is spinning. I didn't even bother to write it down this time but I did notice that the VERY VERY LARGE computer fleet included five MC-90 (aka Bulwark) Battlecruisers, and one CC-7700... oh man oh man I just got my butt whupped by the computer
  21. RebEd does weird stuff sometimes. Right off the bat try two things... 1. Make SURE that you do not have RebEd installed anywhere else on your computer (uninstall / delete it if you do). 2. Uninstall RebEd and delete the folder it was in. After you do both of these things reinstall RebEd and try again... If you still have problems, you should probably uninstall Rebellion and delete the Rebellion folder and everything in it, and then reinstall it.
  22. So last night I'm screwing around with the Rebs, not playing the game but just letting it run in fast forward, and a couple of Imperial ships - an ISD and a Carrack - come park themselves over Yavin. I hadn't bothered evacuating the planet and I wasn't really caring what happened to Han, Luke, Wedge, Jan, Leia and Chewie, so I sent the six of them on six individual sabotage missions up to the ISD. Chewie blew it up on the first try. Then a couple of days later he did the same thing to the Carrack. But this is nothing compared to something that happened to me a while ago in a game I was really playing (from the Imperial side of course). Palpy was on his throne (of course) and my espionage droid on Coruscant had given me advance warning that the Wookie was en route and on an abduction mission. My big mistake was that I had Veers on Coruscant wasting his time with Troop Training research, when he could have been a General. Regardless. I had a half dozen Stormtrooper regiments, an odd number of army regiments, around ten full squadrons of T.I.E. Fighters, and a Golan Arms Defense Platform III in orbit around the planet... so Chewie somehow gets past the Golan, eludes the T.I.E.s, lands his shuttle, evades capture, sneaks into the Imperial Palace, apparently without triggering any alarms, walks right past the (Force trained) Imperial Guard, apparently with the key and code to gain access to the Throne Chamber... walks along one of those narrow catwalks to Palpy's throne... grabs him and either slings him over his shoulder or stuffs him in a sack... gets back out past the Imperial Guard (did I mention that the Guard was Force trained?) evades patrols eludes capture makes it back to his shuttle etc....
  23. For example, if you want to play the Alliance, use RebEd to cut the Material and Maintenance costs of all Imperial ships, starfighters and troops by half, three quarters, or whatever. You should be able to use the "mass alteration" tool for this - enter (say) 75% and drag it over to the Imperial Ships MAT column, or something like that... Cutting MAT and MNT by 75% should mean that the Empire will start out with four times as much stuff.
  24. WinSabacc: http://www.fallenjedi.com/sabacc.html Sabacc Online: http://www.ehnet.org/sabacc/ Sabacc rules and variants: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/4928/sabacc_instructions.txt
  25. WinSabacc has all of those weird cards like Sith Lord, Jedi Master, Bounty Hunter... The online Sabacc (I posted the link above somewhere) has the cards like the Idiot and the Evil One (et al), but I think only if you choose Casino Rules. BTW in the first post in this thread, my suggestion # 4 was just plain stupid. I've only played real poker (with real people) a couple of times, the card game I play most of the time is Rummy. I've been thinking that a "real" Sabacc game might include things like Four of a Kind, Straight Flushes, two-pair (Full Sabacc?) etc. But maybe West End was trying to make it as un-pokerish as possible..
