I tried to get the Dark Trooper to work in reg empire at war... But it just crashes. :(

But Mike you said the XML files won't work unless its meg... won't this mean patches will be... "Mod killers"?

Yes I did say that. But that will probably just be the case for the demo. Seems like they learned some sort of lesson from the EaW demo and don't want people modding this demo and unlock, say, the droideka. Well, they're going to have to try harder than this :)

 

And I suspect the reason the dark trooper crashes in EaW is because of the different animation format. EaW can't handle FoC's animation files. So the FoC animation files have to be converted to EaW's animation file format before they'll work (if at all).

I did but I was kinda confused.  Should I be using a MEG extracor like some did, or a hex editor like others did?

Dang, I'm glad I didn't download this demo, it would've probly ruined my mod. I'm waiting for the full, and hoping old mods will be compatable.

somehow I highly doubt it.  ::)

 

I didn't know about extracting megs for a while, often people start with pre extracted xml files from other mods. So unless you start at the beginning you wouldn't know ;)

The FoC demo installs into it's own directory entirely separate from Empire at War...

well, I imagine that it'll probably have some changes to the exe and stuff in addition to changes in other files...my assumption is that EaW mods won't be compatible with FoC...then again, maybe the FoC files will be segregated in some way to allow for EaW mods to still work within FoC or something, idk...

2 I doubt we could edit the campaign

3 I doubt we can change the saving/loading. Its part of the exe.

I have to disagree. As an experiment I replaced all the EaW shaders with the ones from the FoC demo, and it ran just fine. I've also added the models and textures, both ran fine. I'm testing some animations now...

 

Edit: ok, it's definite: the FoC anims are different. everything else is fine.

I mean I copied them of the FoC demo and put them in the EaW folder.

I believe that purple aura has something to do with the cloaking ability, but I'm not sure...

Did anyone notice the BMP image of the commandbar!?! its nice. Apparently they changed the icons for space station upgrades (!)

i got the Zann Consortium able to build Nebulon B's, Acclamators, A-wings, Tie Defenders, and the Corellion Corvette. oh and the Broadside cruiser and the Marauder cruiser. its not hard just set the tech level to 5. ha.

anyways,

ive been tweaking the XML's and i cant change the price or build time with any units...everything that ive tweaked including special ability recharge seconds works. anyone know why i cant change the price and build time?
