Fisrtly the WTF momnet. I finally got around to playing the demo at my friend's house. I skipped the turotials and started with the galactic conquest. I just built my stuff and sent my fleet at the enemy. And WTF my fleet was quickly overrun by the 2 star destroyers and all I had left wast the Millenum Falcon. I won the space battle with the Millenium Falcon. Hence the WTF for the over powerdness of the Heros. My WTF astonishment continued as I watch boba fett kill all of my troopers who happend to be standing at the assembly area..............WTF

and the voice acting sucks. I didn't think it was possible for Han Solo to sound even worse than in SWGB and RS3........

I finally got around to playing the demo and I'm sad to say that it was less than I expected  :'(  :'(  :'(

but yeah, the Millenum Falcon is way over powered, I took down both star destroyers and most of the TIE fighters before I decided to send the rest of the fleet in

and the scale is way off...... It is kind of distrubing to see the millenum falcon that is 1/3 the size of a star destroyer

All hero's have some weakness...For Fett use the armor units, for the Millennium Falcon, although i haven't played as the Imps, he was destroyed quickly with the Tartan and/or fighters, capital ships can't really scratch it with its Invincibility power and speed.  Personally the weakest hero is Luke, he dies in every space battle i use him in, personally my favorate hero is Ackbar and his Home One.

Did you play the same game that I did?  ???

But yes, the heroes (Millenium Falcon) needs a little nerf. Especially the special abilities need a longer cooldown. They are available again way too fast!

Yeah its too fast, someone i know was playing with the Falcon lost in then went to the reinforcment screen to find... It sitting right there barely 3 seconds after it had been destroyed  :'(

If you think the falcon is strong...

Just wait till you play against Boba Fett when he's got slave 1!

I had the Falcon, Home One, and 4 Squadrons of fighters die from that one man... Talk about just a wee bit overpowered.  ::)

You obviously didn't hear all of the voice acting, because if you actually took the time to play the tutorials, you'd notice that they are expertly done. I won't name names, as I don't know them all, but you'll notice that people like Mon Mothma, the Imperial Officer, and definitely Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison?) sound very expertly done and are very recognizable. Please take a look (or a listen) at the whole picture before you judge it based on a part! ;D

I don't know you guys, but I find that they are well balance. Don't forget that heroes are supposed to be more powerfull than regular units. It's the way you use it that is going to determine how long they will die, for example, if you send captain piett alone against 3 or 4 mon calamari cruiser's, he is going to die eventually, same with boba fett. Now, the only hero I think is a bit overpowered is the millenium falcon, but nerf it is not the answer, look at what happend to star wars galaxies with the lots of nerfing. The solution to this matter is to have an option that can be turn on and off at any time, to make heroes dies and don't come back.

The voice acting was okay, better than Area 51's. Han Solo's voice reeked the most(as you said).

And the balance is rather iffy...hopefully Petroglyph'll clean up their mess before the release.

Alot of the sounds are placeholders. The tutorials are somewhat different since they are closer to the official sandboxes. But please, for gods sake stop whining about the certain elements that will be (or even have been) sorted out.

Sure feedback is apprieciated, but why on earth moan so god damn much about it. OK, you've made your point. Allow Delphi to comment on these things then extract the information from that to further a discussion. I've known Delphi from the Westwood years. He's not going to give responses to threads like this if they are not constructive!

Demos can help determine a decision to buy a game or not. But to cry to mom about a certain hero that probably hasn't gone through full balance testing in that current build is pathetic. In games development, the coding and  initial development are the most important things, while ironing out the huge bugs that lie present within. Things like adding fully detailed models, final sounds and sound FX and balancing is done last.

Balancing is where Delphi and the whole team get in and play games, as well as observe the games being played. Notes are taken all over the show. and comments are made by the players to any bugs, or balancing issues that are of huge concern. Only once all of the major balancing is corrected, and the game is considered balanced, will it be brought forward to "Gold" Status.

While all the discs are being burnt from the Gold discs. The team don't just sit back and relax. This is the time to put in some of the most intensive games to ensure the balancing in all maps, on all units, and every aspect are correct as possible. If major issues arise and things are not correct, or how they like it, the programmers and designers will boot up their Machines, go into the relevant program and modify the necessary components. This will go all the way to launch. And if there are things to be addressed, a patch will come available on or very shortly after release.

All this balancing will continue way after launch until Petroglyph are happy that their product is as close to the vision and mission statements that they set out to achieve. There is still alot of work being done, and it will continue to be done. Do not rule anything out until the full product has been reviewed by the majority of online and offline magazines... As well as the fansites who will give you a gamers perspective. Until then, make constructive criticism, or (and this is not like me) STFU!

Nicely said, CnC King!!!

Please speak constructively and don't just flame the game.

I also thought Han's voice was off, but I didn't think heroes were that much overpowered. They should be strong. That's why they're called heroes!

Maybe, because they took voice clips from the movies etc. They weren't the actual original actors doing the voices. It was compiled of a bunch of voice clips collected.... ::) I think the voice acting is pretty well for voiceovers...

P.S why are all your posts or MOST negative?  ???

Pietts laser isnt that bad. it kills 1 hardpoint then disactivates and unlike han and chewie has along cooldown. falcon can have invulnerable turned on so fast

And even when invulnerability is off it is still almost impossible to damage.

The heroes are a bit overpowered yes, but of course this is a demo with a tuned down AI. Hopefully the full game will correct this problem. Of course, whoever has the patience to sit there an hour and use one hero be my guest, it isnt my strategy of choice.

Well, I thought the voice acting was good  :). Dont know what all the complaining is about  :-\. All I can say is dont expect perfection  ;D

CnC, you've taken the words right out of my fingertips. ;D If people would stop whining over every minor inconsistency and just enjoy what the game is, they would find that they would have a much better experience. It's a shame what most of the RTS community has become, and it's too bad that people don't respect the hard work that the devs devote their careers to. Too often people just bitch and moan about whats wrong without complimenting on what's right. You guys know who im talking about... :-\

Cnc, I find your lack of pants disturbing.

And stop swearing so often(actually, the swearing I don't mind, it's the blasphemy).

The voice acting doesn't really matter when it comes to an RTS game.....their not exactly built for atmosphere. Has anyone actually played an atmospheric RTS?

"Company of Heroes" looks promising.

Oh, and Beowylf....learn to spell "heroes."  ;)

Problem is the main point of playing a star wars game is playing for the atmosphere. There are plenty of other RTS games out there, but you play a star wars RTS to immerse your self into playing as an empire or rebellion.

Yes, we are ready and prepared for any balance tweaks that need to be made.  I think heroes will more than likely be in the fast pass.  ;)

I've been practicing my nerf bat swing, still pretty solid.
