How do I mess with Bitmaps and name lengths?

First, this site is awesome. There is something kinda' honorable about a group still playing a niche game 5 years after it came out. I load up rebellion about once a year, but I just found you guys yesterday. Cool.

 

2 q's (I tried using the search function, but it didn't work properly... wierd.)

 

 

1) I found this neat site with some pics to modify the rather ugly cutscene pics in the game:

I know -how- to mess with dll's and have swapped in models and added textures (much thanks to the online help of the community), but I don't know -where- to swap these bmp's in. Can anyone tell me?

 

 

2) Apperantly The Mask had some kinda' patch that would allow you to ignore the name tlength issue:

In regard to names.

 

1). Use Resource hacker to open TEXTSTRA.DLL. Search the String Table directory for the name you want to change.

 

2). Read the entries near the one your changing to make sure your changing the right one. Some names occur in different places for different purposes.

 

3). Change desired entries.

 

4). Eat peanut butter and bannana sandwich.

 

(If you leave out any steps, you may damage your harddrive).

Would a banana and peanut butter sandwich serve as a suitable replacement? Does the bread matter (pumpernikle etc)?
