There's still the question as to whether that's even possible. If it is (which I really hope it is!), then it will give good players that much of an advantage over bad players, assuming they can coordinate well.

Anyway, if it's a feature, I would assume you are simply snapped to one of the views, and then can switch between views via the galactic overview map.

Currently waiting to get Age of Empires 3, Dawn of War, and Star Wars: Empire at War

I think that the battles should happen one at a time.

What about multiple fleets fighting on each side, for example one player sending 3 fleets and coordinating them to arrive at once at the same planet. Will it work like in RTW, where different armies arrive at different locations, and can be also handed over to the AI for the duration of the battle?

I hope that you only know about them one at a time. If you are attacking someone and do not know that you are going to be attacked once the battle is over, you won't many reacourses for it. But, that is the element of surprise. You have to harness it and use it as often as possible.

That brings up some questions, do you get reasources during a battle? Can the attacker build something during the battle and then use it in the same one? Or can he/she build new things at all? Do certain buildings give you reasources during the battles? Where are you Delphi?!!!!!????!!!!????!! We need a lot of questions anwered. Some of them we don't want to ask during the chat. Help us!

This is a question we have no answer for just yet. I actually submitted this at the beginning of the botched live chat. I also have this question in my questions here: http://swempireatwar.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=992 .

It's self-evident what he is saying Jmaster. He's asking whether anyone knows how the game would react if some way some how two fleets bound for two separate planets managed to arrive at precisely the same time. As for answering it, I'd say that you'd play one battle at a time and then move on to any others that occur at the "same time". I do not have the official answer though and my idea should be taken as speculation.

Well it probably has to be one at a time. Most comps will struggle with this game anyways so putting 2 battles on at the same time will lag the game out.

It would be the height of cool if the game does allow you to switch between 2 battles and allow you to go to the galactic map to bring in more fleets to on going battles.

I have been wondering this; How many ground battles do you have to fight to take a planet?

Also, I was wondering how deep a planetary system is? Like the Death Star takes a while to come into range of a planet. Could a battle take place far away from a planet and progress inward towards the planet? Like the Battle for Coruscant in Star by Star.

If yes, could an invading fleet form up on the boundries of an enemy system say a few ships at a time, or 2 opposing fleets build up in a neutral system?

This would add depth to the strategy of space battle. (Hey, Lando)

Maby you can leave an AI general in charge of one when you are leading the other battle.

I think gameplay wise it would be better for all of us if the battles are fought one at a time to allow us to have larger battles. If they allowed concurent battles, they would have to be prepaired for the eventuality of all 80+ systems having battles going on at the same time in space and on ground. That would be a possible 160+ battles going on at once. Very unlikely, but that is how you design code well, you take the extremes to form the boundaries and then you have to make sure everything in between is handled.

I don't think anyone would disagree that that would be cool and more "realistic", but see my post above on the ramifications a system like that would have on our forces and computers. I would rather fight them one at a time and have bigger battles, than having a bunch of tiny battles going on all over the place because of population limits being lower to support concurrent battles.

Keep in mind the battles you don't see are not rendered so battles off on some distant planet will not impact your comp performance. It will be determined by values that each ship has(I remmeber in a screenshot it had a value like attack power or something.

I think your fears are groundless.

i hope you can have multiple battles at once, or atleast a choice to allow more then one at a time, i like playing RTSs and having a medium force attack the enemy in one place and when the AI sends all it troops there to fight, i send a really big force to the opposite side and have no problem crushing the enemy.

Hopefully you will only know about one at a time. You could use all your money in one battle and then get screwed in the next because you didn't save any money for it becuase you didn't know about it. If you are defending one, but you are planning to attack another one in the same turn, you will save money for the second one. It's all about planning and strategy.

or you just fight one then the next one.

What I was thinking

I was under the impression this is how they were doing it. It makes the most sense to me. This is how it worked in Rebellion at least, you couldnt move on until you were done with your battling.

yeah ive been thinkin about this and it would make sense to be able to have 2 fleets arriving in 2 system one at a time i think that you should choose the battle that you want to fight and leave an AI in control of the second and if things go wrong the game should tell you about anything major going on in the other sector as you cant really expoect it to give you time to take the planets one at a time and let you spend hours consolidating one place for a galaxy that large you must be able to play concurrent battles. because you can launch a minor offensive against a small planet they reinforce there and then you hit the location that the reinforcements is from just like they did in the NJO and taking back Fondor they made a feint at Duro and when the reinforcements arrived they hit Fondor with the enemy trapped in a Gravity Well at Duro giving them enough time to take out the remaining forces at Fondor when secure they ran to fondor ahead of the Vong.
