wow i really do spell really bad don't i......well i was simply joking but where would petro get this idea.....aren't the I WANT IT TOTALLY REALISTIC people gonna have convulsions?????? when did an imperator class get a production facility???

We don't think it is a production facility, think of it like a car. Your car comes with tires, but when your tires are bad you need to buy new ones. The car doesn't produce new tires for you.

Thank you I was ready to pull my hair out and I have tons of head hair

My interperation of what Delphi said is that you buy squads for your SD. Say you buy three. You begin the fight and take casualties, you lose 1 squad. Your SD will slowly regenerate the squad. At least that's what I think. Of course, that does sound a bit odd, so i dont think it's right.

EDIT: After reading a bit, i think i would agree more with the SD coming with free TIEs. I bet that's what delphi meant.

That sounds very cool. I always figured you just assigned ties to ships. Then again if the ties are weaker that makes sense. Presumably late game when both teams have resources and upgrades this is one of the features the empire has to keep up with the more powerful X-wings. I wonder if this 'ability' has to be researched, or can just be done from the outset.

I think its clear that a ingle TIE wont have a chance vs a single X-Wing or A-Wing but this will be balanced by the cost of the spacecrafts. (Weaker means cheaper and vice versa)

Nailed It! Also, SD and ISD produce Ties and bombers at no cost.

Guys, I can't see how this statement means anything other than the Ties and Bombers are produced from the Star Destroyer itself. In galactic mode or in battle is the main question now.

This is a suprising turn....

It's also kind of sad. It makes me wonder if starfighter squadron production for the rebels will be along a similar lines. It also makes me wonder if starfighters are even buildable in the Galactic mode and only appear during the tactical level of gameplay.

I refer back to my previous analogy: It could be that the Star Destroyers and equivalent Rebel ships are handled along the same lines as the Protoss Carriers in Starcraft. There is a set number of squadrons that the Cap ship can have docked, you have a build button on the control menu of the Cap ship when you select it to allow you to build any missing craft (or all of them when the Cap ship is first built). As squadrons are lost, you select the Cap ship and build replacements.

Whether you can build the replacements (or originals if you have poor foresight) during battle is something that is important. If you build them only in Galactic mode it would not be as bad (still a bit wierd IMO). My other concern is that this will make building fighter squadrons a bit more manual than I would like, and it also means that you may not be able to station fighters on planets and space stations unless there is a specific fighter "hanger" upgrade for each.

Delphi, could you please enlighten us as to the specifics?

If he doesn't respond, we need to get this particular scenario answered in the chat, because it will affect the game tremendously.

Another problem I have with it is that it sounds like Rebel Starfighters won't be able to conduct attacks independent of capital ships, which s****. That would have been one of the main advantages the rebels would have held, being able to conduct hit and fades with fighters, this no longer seems to be a very likely scenario.

Rebel fighters have hyperdrives so they should be able to move to and attack planets by themselves.Ties don't have hyperdrives so they might have to rely on carriers and such to get them to planets.

Agreed. With that in mind Rebel fighters will probably be produced separate from capital ships. Hopefully they will be free moving because they do have hyperdrives. Imperial fighters are without hyperdrives so it makes sense for them to have to be acquisitioned for/from a capital ship. That makes me wonder if you can garrison support fighter squadrons on your planets (in case you don't have a spacestation).

That would be kind of sad.. if starfighters as of now can't be built separately, Petroglyph really needs to go back and watch Episode 4. You know, the part with the Death Star? I don't recall seeing any Rebel capital ships there ;).
