If you live there, you might've heard about it (but I hope not , for my sake ). Anyways, I'll get to it right away... the website contest is for high school students, so you might expect a lot of people to be participating. I was thinking of joining, and although my chances of winning are pretty low I will at least get some experience out of it . Basically you get to make your own website about anything you want, and it's judged by the following criteria:Content Structure and Navigation Visual Design FunctionalitySuccess Yes, the last part is stupid.. how do they expect someone to get a popular website running in just a month (because the deadline is June 22, 2003). Now, I would really like if someone could help me think of what to write a website about.. what is popular nowadays that I could possibly know a lot about, something that will draw my visitors back for more? I'm thinking it needs news and a forum.. but what should the main topic of the site be? As for the 'success', I was thinking to pull a few strings here and there, see if my connections can get my site advertised on theirs Any comment and/or advice would be greatly appreciated! Sure, there's Star Wars, Counter-strike, or a whole bunch of other PC Games.. but would that really attract a lot of audience and have me actually stand a chance of winning this thing? What produces the HTML is normally another scripting language - PHP, ASP, CF, etc. If you've ever read the history article, the first page of links (mine) along with the first version of SWR by Eville Jedi were HTML only. Finally, we found SSI easier to use to create a frameless and easy to update site. Next came some ASP before finally working it into PHP, which is even better. It handles phps and Flash as well.
