How to defeat an Enemy ISD/ SSD Blockade.

well, guys, it seems the Star Destroyer movie confirms that shield generators on at least the ISD and Interdictor, (and therefore probably the Victory-class ones too) are targetable.

If you watch the Interdictor's tower explodes right between two little lumps on the top where the generators are typically placed on destroyers and I think you can hear them say "our shield generators have been destroyed".

at the very tail end of the movie you can see someone take a pot shot at the ISD's generators too so in any strategy against the empire, just mass your Y-wings and hit the generators.

I believe in some EU book, it says the building of the SSD broke (bankrupted) the empire.

Also, for the Blockade, I would focus all firepower on the Interdictor while the X-wings would provide cover fire(vs ties and distract the ISD's.) The guns that are facing away from the Interdictor will also be distracting the ISD's. When the Interdictor is down, I'd make a tactical retreat, cruiser first with x-wings and y-wings covering, then I'll pull out the x-wigs and y-wings when I feel the imps had had enough.

You cant bankrupt theGalactic Empire one one 17 Kilometer ship. Excecutor was 17 K, Lusankya was 8, built at the same time, and all of this with the Second DS starting construction.

As for taking out an ISD and SSD with one Mon Cal, Nebulon B, and 6 fighter squadrons....forget it. SSD broadsides will overload Mon Cal shields way too fast, ISD will engauge and make short work of the Nebulon B.

Any ground bases High Velocity cannons (or wahtever from the new vids, where they took out hte space station) would be the best bet, unless you have a fleet in your pocket.

and I thought the SSD's werent going to be ingame ?? :?

By the way, the current answer to the original question of this thread after playing the release version of the game is to have a lot of Correllian Corvettes in your fleet.  That is how you beat the ISD blockade.  All you need is about 1 Correllian Corvette to each 2 Y-Wing groups you have and you should be fine.  As for the Empire... you better have a lot of Tartans and I do mean a lot.  Your only hope is to kill off the rebel Y-wings before they completely cripple the (supposedly, although not in EAW) "powerful" ISDs.  The CCs take way to much time to kill for an ISD or VSD in this game.  It is really ridiculous.
