Design ideas needed

I was just wondering. What do you think a modernised version of the Ebon Hawk would look like?

Basically if the Hawk had been built at the Rise of the Empire era what do you think it would look like?

Ideas and suggestions welcome.

I think it would look basically like the Ebon Hawk. Maybe a little less blocky in the cockpit. Or just like the Falcon.

One of the biggest, and few, disappointments for me in KOTOR was the utter lack of original design for ships and buildings considering we're going back 1000 years (or was it 4000? can't keep the ancient SW dates straight). Apparently nobody in the GFFA has had an original design idea in millenia...

The Hawk's design was based on the Falcon, though, according to interviews and such.

I'd tend to agree with Max- smooth out the blockier parts and make it curvier around those parts- a fillet, if you can do that in Max (I only know the term from AutoCAD Inventor)

I tried modelling a bit. Here is a start of a modernised version of the Hawk.

Very nice, Mad.

A fillet is a curved edge, like if you placed a ninety degree section of cylinder (90 degrees of the circle at the end) and stuck it on the straight edge such that the edges of the cylinder were flush with the object. I'll have to find you a picture, this description probably isn't helping...

...but before i do the textures I decided to model some more detail to the ship. Yes i know I already posted these pics in the Art thread but I am terribly proud of this model.

I use 3ds Max. I started modelling after having joined the forum. :)

Glad you like it. I'll be posting a little bonus later.

I use 3ds Max.

Damn...

Yet another awesome program that I don't have the money for. I have blender and a free downloaded 3D modelling program called Misfit Model.

It works, but I can't open any of the model files anybody else has though.

I am working on getting enough money to buy some programs to help in my various projects though.

No problem. If you need tips on modelling in GMax you should check out my video tutorial. It can be found in the download section.

Use whatever software you're comfortable with. There are a lot of packages out there, some free - others not. But, just because it's free doesn't mean it's bad. Of course, usually when money is involved you get something better - in the case of max, it's usually additional functionality to make things easier or quicker. Also rendering abilities etc.

But, blender (even though complex) is probably one of, if not the, best free 3d package available if you want to model high poly and low poly scenes.

And the Trojan bots that will wreak havoc on your computer and everyone in your mailing list and contacts. He's not called "Mad" for nothing!

Actually Mad does excellent video tutorials. I just need to get the programs he's using so I can actually do what he's teaching :D

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
