Randomness, The Sequel

I always disliked how our schools are so negative on foreign languages. I would love it if foreign language was encouraged at a younger age.

When I lived on L.I., they started teaching foreign language in 6th grade, and the choices were Spanish, French, Italian, and German. Naturally, I took Italian. Then I moved in the middle of 7th grade, and my new school (where I live now) did not start teaching foreign language until 8th grade. So I had a little more than half a school year with no foreign language, and when 8th grade rolled around, they only offered Spanish and French (which was considered the AP foreign language class).

So I used to know quite a bit of Spanish, and it was useful when I got my first job at a restaurant and had to communicate with several employees who only spoke Spanish. Then I left, and went to college, and stopped taking Spanish, and now I know very little. I would love to learn Italian one day, as some of my family can. But yeah, thats my rant on foreign language in schools. Its a good thing.

Here you start learning German in Primary school. You start english in Middle School and then you can choose to continue german or/and italian + spanish, ancient greek and latin.

And to answer your question Tofu. I intend to go holidaying in the States some time. Maybe at the end of my next school year.

I'm relatively close by if you plan to see Disney (don't, it's stupid), Universal Studios (Also a stupid tourist trap), or Kennedy Space Center (That's actually pretty interesting, even though I live here). I'm, like, an hour away from all of those places.

Speaking of exchange students, we just had a bunch of Germans over at my school. 8O When do you guys start learning English, Eagle? These kids were fully fluent in it! Three German kids were having a conversation in German at my lunch table and I said something like, "Ah! Non spreken di Doich!" (All spelled wrong, I know. I was saying, "Ahh! I don't speak German") and they were just like, "Oh, sorry." They immediately started talking in English. 8O

The best moment came from a kid named Max. He had to stay with the world's most annoying Junior, whom no one, least of all Max, likes. The Junior was rambling on, being an idiot, when suddenly Max jumps into the conversation: (Warning: Not suitable for young eyes!) "Nick, your head is like your dick; small, und vith nothing inside!"

Normally it starts with the 5th grade. But I believe that kids will get english and france even in 3rd or 4th grade. That depends I guess. But most kids are quite bad in talking in english, me included. I´ve got a bad Schwarzenegger accent.

Very well: Islands of Adventure is stupid as well. Long lines for piss-poor rides. "Oh my gosh, look, a Dinosaur! Whee, down the shaft! Oh, look, three hours of our lives wasted in line for a three minute ride. That was fun."

The coasters are good, but there are only three of 'em. Bush Gardens is a much better bang for your buck. More coasters, though the lines are still a pain. If you absolutely must go to a tourist trap, do so during the week day. Fewer people will be in the lines.

A Schwartzeneger accent, eh? Are you from a heavily Austrian region?

I'm leaving for Italy on Thursday. You'll all get a nice, Tofu-free week while I'm off in Europe checking out Venice, Florence, and Rome. I appologize if Venice sinks all the way into the water upon my arrival- one of our chaperones is my exceedingly fat U.S. History "teacher" (I use the quotation marks because she simply tells us to memorize the text rather than bothering to teach it).

Send me a mail when you arrive. There must a way to get you up to Geneva.

And beware of the "Oh my F*** god! I can legally drink here" syndrom

Italy?! Sweet!

Enjoy your stay there and I´m pretty sure you´ll love it.

But take some warm clothes with you. Weather is getting worse and colder to the weekend.

If you´ve got the ocassion to check out a typical italian restaurant than don´t miss it. You will find em propably further away from all the tourist sights. It´s not the typical Pizzaria which I´m talking about. Which are also allright of course. I mean the typical "Restaurant Mama", where you can taste some of the finest food Italy has to offer. Maybe your teacher knows about them. Try those meals you´ve never heard about before. Can´t remember that I´ve ever eaten something that wasn´t enjoyable while staying in Italy. But Pizza and Spaghetti is also ok of course. The last mentioned is often served as hors-d'oeuvre. :)

@Evaders

Nice April-Fools joke. I like that song of Rick Astley.

Pics from my hiking trip

So I went up to the family property today to look for signs of surveying for a new powerline road being built. I found no vehicles or marked trees, so i assume that they did not begin work. I tend to have Wednesdays off of school and work, so I hope to make weekly visits up there to check progress.

Maybe they'll find your "lost mine" for you when they accidentally fall down the shaft

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
