I don't think there's a backup function that is turned on automatically. There is the System Restore, which is usually set to max of some percentage of the hard drive space.. (12% in XP I think). I have to question why it would take 1 GB though.. per day.

 

Is it still continuing to happen?

He also may check out the settings for Norton Antivirus, which tends no eat away lots of diskspace.

@Eagle: Oh, jeeze, that kid from the Slave I add cracked me up! His accent and trying to do the voices... That was just great!

 

I think I actually had a speeder bike like the one advertised there, except that it didn't come apart like theirs- probably for the best, since it was probably difficult to repair, hence the lack of it being included in later models...

 

@Mad: Some of those actually looked rather tasty, truth be told. We should adopt them in the US!

And personally, while those iMacs look neat - unless they've been substantially re-designed, they'll bug the hell out of you. They're effectively laptops in a desktop arrangement with a big screen.

The annoying design fault is that everything is on the back of the bloody things. To turn it on, the button's at the back - which is annoying in the day, and a prick at night (seriously, that's one of the biggest qualms with iMacs at uni - trying to turn them on. 90% of the time you have to turn the computer around) and ditto for the USB ports, and any other connection as well that you're use to having easy access to.

The USBs on the keyboard are only USB 1, and for some reason either the USB ports or the OS won't downgrade a USB 2 device to USB 1 if plugged into them. So, at least for memory sticks, you're always plugging in the back of the thing or getting an error from OS X saying that there's not enough power for the device

 

Oh yeah, and I wouldn't mind having some of those Macca's menus around here: Beer from Germany (ok, probably NOT a good idea ) Shrimp burgers, chicken big macs, lobster rolls and salmon dish would be tops.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it ... in Germany, where beer is consumed like water. But in other countries, let's say the US, the only thing being ordered would be McBeers. Micky D's would then become a drunk driver factory because of all the twats getting wasted. That wouldn't do much good for Micky D's reputation. Or same much about the intelligence (or lack thereof) of most of the public

Fascinating stuff Tex, and $10 million!!!!

 

I got to work unusually early today, swiped the office camera, and went out for an early morning stroll around the zoo. First port of call were my friends the otters who hadn't been let out to their heated hotel room. I moved on, to the meerkats. Something a bit odd, a freaked out keeper opening that part of the zoo was viewing them intently.

Babies! They had been born during the night, and with amazing luck I turned up with camera first thing in the morning. Above is a flickr photo stream you can see them, but I didn't have to much time to follow their progress throughout the day on account of there being only two out of five of us in our department. Whilst you will note one is being eaten by the others; which I was assured is completely natural by the Curator of Mammals for their species, (it was born dead, or quickly died) the other two were doing fine when I had a peak at lunchtime.
