Wonderful finds to you both, LLF & J. That's a mighty interesting compilation of comparisons :D
Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

What stuns me is the shear size of the Zeppelin, if you obviously compare it..

It was vaaast, longer than the longest real ocean-ship he lists I think.

That is pretty neat. Its funny to see how small our current rockets are. Also makes you think if humans will ever create starships that advanced.

Transfer this statement two thousand years ago and compare ship sizes.. heaving oars on a Greek galley to today's super-tankers.. not far off the Space Shuttle to a Star Destroyer if you think about it :!:

Some of the sizes are off for the Star Wars ships, but oh well- you're too much of a nerd if you get hung up on the size of a Super Star Destroyer :P

Oddly enough they had neither the Prometheus nor the Odyssey from Stargate SG-1 *Scratches head* It (was) one of the most prominent sci-fi shows ever... Odd that it wasn't included...

OMG... LEXX FTW! 8O

I had forgot about that show, man was it great. I wish Sci-Fi would put it back on late night syndication.

I work on this from time to time. Adding a ship every so often.

(The Corvette doesn't quite seem to fit the Destroyer's bay. I might not have scaled one of them down properly.)

I have a question..

Does anyone know if George Lucas himself, or someone he has authorized, clearly stated that the Executor class was indeed over 17km long?

I'm curious because just thinking about it all... it seems so ridiculous.. and I know we can all argue scale in the movie.. but i dont think thats enough personally... i mean.. its a movie... and we all know better than anyone.. that lucas especially never really cares about feasibility.. i find it possible the model was that big just for grins.. and shock value.. but anyway.. so yea?.. anyone know?

The original post by LaForge shows what they label an Acclamator-class, but the profile is that of a Victory-class, or rather, it doesn't match the profile of an Acclamator.

I also find it odd they didn't add in one of the most obvious ships from Star Wars: Death Star.

Nice find.

Death Star would probably take up too much space

Well, I certainly didn't mean the whole thing. Just show it in the background, like a shadow, or something, with the superlaser focusing disk in the background for perspective. Rather the way The Imperial Sourcebook shows the Executor in the background.

Thanks for posting youtube. Didn't think to look there for LEXX. I watched the whole 1st miniseries yesterday, killed 93 minutes of my precious time I should have been finishing my Management course report. :D

Death Star is a ship? It is a small moon. Besides you are forgetting the Dyson Sphere from ST:TNG which encapsulated an entire solar system! It was TNG episode that Scotty guest starred in. :D

It's based off a real theory actually but some alien race built one in Star Trek.

StarWars.com says the SSD is 19kms long. I think there was alot of talking as to how the Empire made them shorter afterwards so that they didn't cost so much.

Haha... what, disband the imperial senate and the emperor will prepare his own 2007 federal budget? :D

I'm sure that will turn out balanced. Probably two more death stars in the budget, each constructed with $40,000 imperial throne room porcelain and marble toilet seats. Budget... pff... it's the Empire!

When the Emperor strains with constipation... does lightning rods shoot out his ass?

You must also take into account that its much quicker to build a 8km ship than a 19km one. Maybe thats a reason they made them shorter. So as to have them faster.
