Maybe we could get a massive group-skype thing with all of the members! Mad and I managed it, and anyone who has a microphone can join in- my screen name on skype is the same as it is here- DarthTofu.

Why so complicated?? There´s still the community chatroom :roll:http://www.swrebellion.com/modules.php?name=Chat

With Skype we get to hear eachother's voices. Plus skype is free. And pretty darn cool, IMHO.

I know, but some of you (eg. SOCL ;) ) seem to don´t know how it exactly works. The chatroom is also for free and easy to use at every time. Another thing we could do is use a Teamspeak-Server where we just have to log in without trying to build a group-chat or something else.

I don´t want to write down my skype nick here. But if someone with a name which has the "Eagle" in it want´s to add you, don´t worry, that´s just me. 8)

@SOCL

Wait! Isn´t your new avatar from the old japanese "Star Blazers"-catoon? 8O I loved these when I was a child.

Who cares at all?!

Well, it is from a Japanese cartoon/anime, but not from Star Blazers. The character is Amuro Ray from Yoshiyuki Tomino's Mobile Suit Gundam. The picture is specifically from something called Gundam EVOLVE, a CGI-based retelling of various scenes from many of the anime which fall under the Gundam universe, specifically a retelling of Char's Counterattack, a movie. Information is on Wikipedia, if you're interested.

These anime-characters just look all the same!:P "Star Blazers" is an anime series of the early 70s. George Lucas stole a lot of it, not just a part of the main title (Star Blazers/Star Wars). There are huge carriers, which also look like fleets of WWII, like the Star Destroyers, and there´s even a R2-like Droid. The name of the enemy is the "Galactic Empire" and there are antigrav-vehicles like Luke´s old Speeder. You can watch it here if you like to.

Isn't this series also known as Legend of the Galactic Heroes? At least, the whole Galactic Empire concept and such sounds very much like it... I think that most scifi anime from the 1970s basically revolves around the same basic theme about war and such, reflecting the Japan's dealing with its past in having surrendered in World War II...

I have no idea SOCL. http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/konfus/a015.gif Japanese anime series weren´t much shown in the german television of the 70s. There was just Star Blazers and Captain Future. And I saw Star Blazers on the italian swiss television, not in the german language of course. But it was nevertheless cool to watch. :D

You know you're in a good place when...

Grown men are discussing cartoons, and some of them aren't looking back very far in their lives to remember watching them at all. :P

Wow. I've never seen Star Blazers before. Heard of it yes but never actually watched any of it before now.

The animation leaves a little bit to be desired but then all of the series from that era are like that.

*Googles 'Space Battleship' *

"Dammit, I keep ending up with links to this old anime. What's the deal!?"

Well, Def, don´t forget that it was made in the early 70s, about ´73/´74 I guess. I´ve found the official site of Star Blazers where you can watch a hole bunch of online-comics and which has lots of links where you can find more stuff like video-clips and much more.

I guess we shall stay on topic yet. Maybe we can make a new thread about that.

Don't be silly, Melbourne is a county in Florida near where I live. Hey, there's a good spot... Let's name all of the places in our differant areas with the same names so that we can all agree to meet at least one person at one of them, and then pretend like we did... Or not. (It's a joke, guys. I'm not being serious in any way shape or form. If you needed me to tell you that it's more a testament to your intellect than to mine)

Anyone else go to the wrong "Victoria"

It's also a little town near the Ohio River in Kentucka (Kentucky that is, without the Texan drawl  ).

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
