How exactly does online multiplayer work anyway?

I've always wondered this.

btw, I have returned after not being here for a LONG time.

That's not what I meant either.

Okay. How does the time factor work (Like the slow or fast setting)?

it runs at the slowest setting picked by either player... ie ur on fast and buddy is on slow, the game runs slow, if your buddy changes to medium, then game changes to medium, etc.

everything else is the same except you are not playing the stupid AI (unless your buddy has an IQ <50) and must adapt your tactics

Ah, okay. Thank you.

I'd like to try a multiplayer game, although it would probably take over 10 days.

Erm, I'm thinking of finally trying multiplayer with Rebellion (Le gasp) since I'll have to instal it on this computer to test the RebED beta, anyway. How exactly do you connect to other people? That is, what's the process that you go through to do it?

@Anyone who responds: Pretend that you're talking to someone who's always assumed that the interior of a computer works through the process of magic rather than a series of executable files, etc. Give ever little detail or I will likely start badgering you with posts about "Wait, where's that file? I can't find and I checked all over the C drive!" when it's in the game file or something.
