From what I heard, the TMNT movie was supposed to actually be a sequel from the other movies. Since Shredder "died" in the second movie, he wasnt in this new one. However, they hinted that he might return in the sequel to the new animated one.

Thanks for the explanation. I knew I heard that shortcut anywhere and I believe I already asked the same question some long time ago. :D

Aaand, yeah, well, those turtle movies never have been on my favorite list at any time.

  • 1 month later...

I saw this movie the other day, and it's now one of my favorites. I must say, I was expecting Across the Universe to be like a history video that tried and failed to connect with kids from today's society, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it really did connect with me, and I found out that, despite what I'd thought for years, the Beatles really did have some good songs.... it's just that the Beatles don't do quite as good a job of performing it as these guys did. :P:wink: Watching it was a lot of fun.

My mother: Notice how they don't take any responsibility or confront their problems.

My dad: Yeah! When we were kids- oh, wait, crap, this is when we were kids. Damn.

Yeah, both Across the Universe and Tropic Thunder were awesome films. We actually got both for Christmas.

I just saw Yes Man last night. It was very good. It was kinda like seeing Jim Carry as his old self again. I love his older movies, like Mask, Ace Ventura, and Cable Guy, but a lot of his more recent stuff, like Bruce Almighty and Fun with Dick and Jane, werent that good. Yes Man was hilarious, and I highly recommend everyone see it when given the chance.

Thats a nice list there Sinister. Good gifts.

I forgot to mention that I rented Hancock last week. I was afraid to see it in the movies, since I was wary of Will Smith as a superhero bum. But the movie was ridiculously awesome. Well, most of it. Im still not sold on his "wife"...that was dumb. But everything else was awesome. Its definitely worth checking out.

... So I watched Clint Eastwood in Gran Turino (sp?) today. I walked in expecting an enjoyable, if stupid, shoot 'em up-style movie, and was pleasantly surprised when it was anything but. I think there are a grand total of three scenes where any guns are even fired. The movie features a large use of the F-word, as well as some politically incorrect name-calling, but it winds up being a lot more than that, as I said. Eastwood plays Walter Kowalski, an old man recently widowered (or whatever the masculine verb of "widowed" is). He fought in the Korean War, and is still haunted by the memories of what he had to do in the war.

One of the better lines in the movie comes when he's talking to a priest.

Priest: It can be hard, dealing with the terrible things that you were ordered to do in war.

Walt: Yeah... but you know what really gets to you? It's the things you weren't ordered to do. Those are the ones that haunt you.

He lives next-door to a Hmung (sp?) family, from Indo-China. Among the household are Sue and her younger brother Tao. Sue is smart and quick with her mouth, while Tao is also smart, but very quiet, and not very capable of standing up for himself. Their cousin, Spider, is a member of a local Hmung gang, and is constantly trying to rope Tao into it. He tells Tao that for his initiation, Tao must steal Walt's 1972 Gran Turino. Tao fails in his task, alerting Walt of his presence, and is threatened at gunpoint with an old rifle left over from Walt's time in Korea.

Tao winds up going to work for Walt to "pay off his family's debt" to the man. I'll leave the rest of the movie to you to see/to look up on Wikipedia. Even knowing the full plot in advance (I checked Wikipedia out before seeing the movie) I loved it.

To quote my friend, "Clint Eastwood puts the 'ass' in.... no, he puts the 'bad' in... screw it- Clint Eastwood puts the full 'badass' in 'badass!'"

The ultimate theme is one of peace, and it doesn't end the way you might expect an Eastwood film to end.

Just got back from seeing Mall Cop. Well, what can I say...blah. It had some funny moments. It was more cute than funny.

Was it an ok movie? Yeah.

Would I pay full price to watch it again? No.

Would I buy it on DVD? No.

The Onion Movie on Megavideo.

Unless you have the premium subscription, you're going to get to just about the best part in the movie, when it's suddenly going to tell you that you can't watch any more for another 54 minutes, but it's worth waiting an extra 54 minutes to come back and watch it.

After over 20 years, and a lifelong devotion to it, Star Wars is no longer my favorite movie. My lifelong favorite has been usurped by all things, a musical. Thats right, a musical.

Best. Movie. Ever.

 Yeah, 'cause we totally won't scare the living (and dead) daylights out of any normal woman who meets us. Let's see- we have the old guy from Texas, the UFO guy from Germany, the exceptionally dorky/awkward/calculus-inclined teenager from Florida, the music-mixer from Switzerland, the (engaged) nerd from New York... Okay, yeah, in retrospect, I'm pretty sure Tex, Eagle, and I are the only three likely to freak anybody out. And I only include myself on the list because I know me. And because I apparently look kinda creepy with my goatee, which I will not shave, no matter how many folks try to make me. If I don't have a goatee, I can't take over the world. We all know that you need at least some form of chin fuzz if you want to conquer other countries and keep them for yourself.

Yes it is. And she does a fantastic job in her role. Not to mention she really does have a good singing voice, so its not like she doesn't fit in.

I saw The Wrestler last night, and it's one of my favorite movies this year. Great movie. Sad, but great. It does a good job of showing what some of the people in that business go through.

Oh, well, somebody who is as rich as her can afford taking some singing lessons for sure. Or she practised it in whole another way. Others would call it screaming of course, if you know what I mean. ;):mrgreen:8)
