I know what you mean. Living in South Dakota, its flat. I can't even find a decent sledding hill! Yes yes, I know all about the 'glorious mountains' of South Dakota. They even have president's faces here! But no matter how you say it, when I walk outside and look around... nothing for as far as the eye can see.

Personally, the most beautiful places I've ever been are northern Idaho, the forests of Oregon, and parts of Arkansas. Strangely, each one of those places has forests, mountains, and streams, and each is inhabited by gun-toting lunatics.

Not entirely true. There are a lot of rednecks in Illinois.

Flat is not always depressing. I think it can be rather beautiful. But I prefer mountains too.

Nothing compared to Arkansas, I can assure you... but probably more then Oregon.

Plains and flat areas are great to look at for awhile, but after a few weeks/months/years its just so... blah.

Hello!! Can you be more rude. That is where I lived for over 10 years of my life. Don't use stereotypes, its not nice. My parents still live ther and I have many friends that live there still also.

You must be thinking of georgia:

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say everybody in Arkansas is a redneck. But my experience there tells me that they are more numerous then any other area I've been to (I have cousins living outside Little Rock, I've been down there several times). I lived in Idaho for 16 years and saw many redneck-types up there as well, and in the surrounding areas like Oregon and Montana. I've traveled to the East Coast and have family living in California and Florida. About the only places left in the US I have no knowledge of are Alaska and the area around Maine... I still hold to there being many rednecks in Arkansas.

(Though you are right, Georgia is pretty overpopulated with them too...)

I think it is fair to say that you can go to any state and find "rednecks". I have been to Alaska and have seen folks who you would probably classify as being in that class. I just think it is wrong to try and calssify people. Its all just a way to make us feel better about ourselves by looking down on someone else. And its wrong.

Sorry for getting off topic. I agree.

Yeaa, I am glad there are other girls on this board!

Hmm... somehow, I feel that arguing this point would only be digging the grave deeper... or confusing. Probably both, so I'll just shut up now.

Although I should point out that I did mention Arkansas as one of the three most beautiful places I've ever been, and I'd actually like to live there some day. So obviously, whether you choose to group them together or not, having odd people that like guns isn't too terrible for me.

What happened to the topic of "girls"?

*raises hand* Here, though I'm mainly a lurker and too much of a tomboy. 8)

And after spending my whole life in the beautiful small hills of Wisconsin, the Florida peninsula is waaaay too flat for my tastes. I have to go onto the causeway bridges to get an altitude fix. But at least there's a lot of trees and water to break up the landscape.

Another Wisconsinite, even if you DO live in Florida now. I think that makes 4 now. Come on back Thumper.

Thumper, don't forget BBL.

Although I think she's also more on the lurking side for several months, now.

Yup, you got another Wisconsinite here (a fact I'm rather proud of ). I love snow, hate hot days, love the countryside, and I still maintain that it's a "bubbler" despite efforts by all of my friends down here to get me to change.:lol:

True, true. :D My bad.

I think she may have been seduced by the WoW side of the Force. (*but waves to BBL, just in case*)

Ah. You're from up north. I can remember being confused out of my mind when I moved to GB. It's NOT a bubbler. It's a drinking fountain, or just a fountain.

Ahh, yeah. She's probably still there with TF.

*sighs*

I've seen a lot of people vanish in that game. Sometimes you wouldn't see fellow students for weeks

Actually I lived my whole life in southeast WI.

Yup, that game and many others. My friends were (are) especially fond of Final Fantasy.
