HELP!How can I destroy the defense facility?

Question

I build up a very very big fleet and destroyed the enemy fleet.

But when I tried to bomb the defense facility, I could hardly destroy any one of them even with a Death Star in my fleet. And each time, one of my ship was cut down.

What should I do? Destroy the planet by Death Star??

Is there any anti-defense ship for that mission?

If you look at Rebed, you will see that Y-wings, B-wings and TIE Bombers have a bombardment value of 2. The others (except for the A-wing and possibly the Tie/interceptor) have a bombardment of 1. I am not sure whether a commander increases that or not, but I can tell you from experience that 4 Alliance Escort Carriers that ship a full squadron of Y-wings will destroy a Gencore Level 1. Doing the same thing without the Y-wings will not.

AdmiralToguroAni beat me to it

Fighters do help with bombardment, in particulr the bombers. To look at their values, check them out with RebEd - where you can change them if you wont as well.

In the case of the Rebellion, it gives extra reason for Y-Wings during the game as they have the highest bombardment rating for the Rebs. Especially early in the game when you want to assault or raid planets

Yeah, I did notice a bombardment value for fighters in Rebed, although TIEs, TIE interceptors and A-wings have a vlues of 0 and therefore I assume would not affect bombardment.

I couldn't find any mention in the manual that "bombers" (Y-wing & Tie bomber) had a bombardment value. I guess we're just lucky that this little tid bit of information was "viewable" through RebEd. Any other little pieces of information hiding in there?

I'm not sure but I think the Bombardment values the fighters have are values if they were bombarded i.e. troops etc. :?:.

That wouldn't make any sense, you can't bombard with a fleet on a planet as they would fight the orbiting fleet and be destroyed or force the agressors away, that would include the fighters.

Yes I know  it doesn't make any sense and I'm sure I' m wrong, but I don't think they play any role in bombardment. Anyway just trying to figure out why they have a bombardment value hmmm.... :?::idea: maybe they're oh well  never mind(shaking head having lost all hope of figuring this out).

Umm, are you talking troops or fighters? Because, as has already been established, bombers help with orbital bombardments. Ground troops with higher bombardment ratings are just hard as heck to kill, meaning that the planet is more likely to take colateral damage since you have to beat the crap out of the troops you keep dodging fire or whatever.

Tofu summed it up pretty good. Having a handful of bombers in the fleet will help to take out the shields and batteries. Most of the time the problem is to keep them alive after a battle (good thing there's an order to recall them).

Troops have bombardment defense which is how they fare against orbital bombarments (duh!). The higher it is the more chance there is to hit that stupid mine and have all the sector go hostile.
