HELP!How can I destroy the defense facility?

Question

I build up a very very big fleet and destroyed the enemy fleet.

But when I tried to bomb the defense facility, I could hardly destroy any one of them even with a Death Star in my fleet. And each time, one of my ship was cut down.

What should I do? Destroy the planet by Death Star??

Is there any anti-defense ship for that mission?

Your best option is to use sabotage missions to take out any defense shields. Or, you could try and sabotage the LNRs and then bombard the planet again, without fear of loosing a ship. Just be sure that there aren't too many troops/a general on the planet if you're going to use your characters to do the missions. If there is, I suggest you use your special forces to deal with anything.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Some ships have a higher bombardment rating than others, but unless you have a fleet of like 300+ ships I would go with what Thrawn said.

Everything Grand Admiral Thrawn said is important. Sabotage plays a key role in getting rid of pesky defense structures if you do not have a powerfull fleet. Plus I've learned scout ahead with espionage missions before hand.Infact I usually take a crew with decoys for espionage once I'm over the target planet. I also bring a crew for sabotage with decoys. Each having enough to make 2-3 missions, example 1 sabotage's LNR II another Troopers. But I always wait for results from espionage before sabotage, that way I know how many troopers they have for detection of my missions, leaders they have and what what targets for sabotage are priority. If they have more than 5-6 troopers I target at least 1-2 to lessen their detection ability, then I target shields and defense batteries for sabotage. This should help open way for Fleet bombardment.

No offense Aenivae_Ikeda but 300+ ships is overkill. A fleet with lets say for example Imperial with at least 8 or 9 Victory II's with a compilment of other ships say 10 more with a good Admiral can penetrate the shields. With the Victory I it takes 12-18 plus a compliment. This changes due to P.Shields I and II. Just my two cents. 300 may be overkill but it will insure complete victory.

Thanks for all of you.

I will try sabotage. And then HUGE fleet.

BTW: Does Death Star helpful for ground attacking?

And how to protect the Death Star from rebel fighters?

My Death Star always be destroyed even when all of my fighters are engaged with enemy fighter.

An escort of Lancer Frigates or Interdictor Cruisers for example won't be a bad idea. Both ships have powerfull laser weapon which are quite effective against fighters. Anything bigger than an fighter you can wipe out with the Death Star in no time.

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him. (Sun Tsu - The Art of War)

Just make sure that your Death Star fleet has ALOT of fighters. I always have my Death Star Squad with a SSD, a few ISD II, and an Interdictor Cruiser. This allows for a huge fighter capacity, which I always keep full. And be wary of using the superlaser to destroy a system...it affects the entire galaxy, not just that particular sector.

Okay, heres the real trick that the upper players don't want you newbies to know. To destroy a shield generator or LNR series you can sabotage but if it fails the first time you must destroy all of your ships surrounding the planet to get a success. -Snicker, snicker...- Seriously... No lie..>.>

Also remember that TIE Defenders rae essentially only effective at defending Death Stars. So, if you want to keep your DS alive load it (not the rest of the fleet) with TIE Defenders while the rest of your fleet is filled with TIE/Is.

Make sure you have a capable Admiral in charge of your fleet. An espionage mission will definitely help know what you're dealing with. A few Nogrhi/Characters to abduct/assassinate any generals or other characters will help. And definitely commandos for sabotage (troops/defensive facilities). I've found a good admiral with enough firepower (you said you had a "HUGE" fleet) is usually adequate. An admiral can definitely tip things in your favor (without an admiral the AI becomes your "admiral" so to speak  ). Good Luck.

Yeah...the TIE Defenders are necessary due to their hyperdrive. I made the mistake of loading nothing but Interceptors and well..it took forever for them to get deployed and the damn rebs did a death star attack run on me.

Why Paul, what ever do you mean. -Wink wink.- We all know that the ONLY way to take over a planet is to completely annihilate your forces. Hell if you don't do that your computer is liable to blow up and send shrapnel into your eyes. Seriously...>.>

Okay  ......moving right along. Yes you will loose some ships, not all of them :!: . Sometimes it is necessary to loose a few ships to take a planet...especially if it has good resources and the possibility of the capture of major enemy characters 8O8) .

Theres another option: Y-Wings/Tie Bombers. I know a DS loaded with the bombers will blow away most shields if you have an admiral. Victory 2s work well, but I'd rather build a carrier and 6 bombers and use ISD2s to do my fighting. To my knowledge, there is nothing in the game that can survive a giant swarm of fighters, and planetary shields are no exception.
Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.

Do you mean "Admiral" or "Commander"? Admirals improve fleet (capital ship) tactics, and Commanders improve fighter/bomber tactics (effectiveness and maneuverability).

Me either. Other than other fighters/bombers, I thought capital ships were the only other target (with exception to the Death Star for the Rebels).

Yeah, I'm a newb, but I'm gonna try and help, anyways. As far as i know, the only thing you really need is an admiral with high leadership ratings. At least, that works for the alliance as i found out when I tried to bombard Corruscant without an admiral... Cost me a couple of bulk cruisers before I figured that out... So, yeah, if you have an admiral, just about reguardless of you freighter's strengths, you can blow the crap out of the ground forces. In space, it's a completely different matter to the extent of my knowledge. Which is very extensive. It goes from one side of my little padded room to the other! All of five feet! Woooooooooooooo! But that advice should work.

So maybe the Admiral helps out the bombardment, and it has nothing to do with fighters. That makes sense. Its like Dalla said in Jedi Academy series, she has enough firepower to turn any planet to slag.
