Biggest Fleet

Recommended Posts

I was writing a post under the newbie board and thought of this thread. So how big was your biggest fleet? I remember my biggest fleet because I had a game going for 5000 days or so. I don't remember specifics but heres a rough view.

150+ Corvettes

200+ Corellian Gunships

100+ Dreadnaughts

200+ Bulk Cruisers

100+ Medium Transports

100+ Alliance Fighter Carriers (All stocked full with B-Wings)

50+ Bulwarks

50+ Dauntless Cruisers

100+ Liberator Cruisers

1 CCSS(Whatever) frigate

20+ Assault Frigates

50+ Bulk Transports (All Stocked with Wookies)

Yeah thats about it. I had to scrap all of my shipyards, shields, LNR's, construction depots, and training facilities to manage it all. And I had no defenses on any of my planets, they were all part of the fleet. I remember I engaged the empire and they had like 2 stardestroyers in the end... It sucked. Imagine the AI with a fleet of equal size, that would have been a cool battle.

My biggest fleet was when I was playing as the Imperials. I had a fleet I had named the "Katana Fleet". It consisted of 100 Imperial Dreadnauts. It was pretty neat. I had it patrolling and colonizing the Outer Rim planets.

I don't usually build massive fleets, but spread my resources across my systems to create an effective defensive screen. I do have one fleet that is larger than the others, usually consisting of:

12x Lancer Frigates

15x Carrak Light Cruisers

6x Victory Star Destroyers

6x Victory II Star Destroyers

8x Imperial Star Destroyers

10x Imperial II Star Destroyers

That's the basic layout. From here I will either add an assortment of smaller ships, or install a command ship. I usually go for the latter, in the form of an SSD.

Though I wasn't responsible, the most surpising fleet I've come across was just today. I decided to take the Rebellion for a spin (I think I've played them twice in history). The only modification I made was to reduce the cost of Death Stars in the hope that the AI would build one. After amassing a fleet in the outer rim (20 Assault Frigates, 12 Nebulon-B Frigates, 8 Corellian Gunships, 6 of those catfish looking ones (CC something), 2 of the interdicters, 8 Liberator Cruisers, 15 Dauntless cruisers and a bluwark) I decided the time was right to strike Coruscant. I sent my fleet there, sending a second fleet of only Bulk Transports loaded with troops twenty days later (that way they don't get destroyed in the battle). When my attack fleet arrives, what are they greated by? 25 FRIGGING SSDS!! At first I thought I had made a change to it's cost values, but when I checked they were normal. What made me even more angry was that after narrowly defeating these stupid things, I get attacked by a second Imperial fleet composed of your standard number of ISD IIs loaded with an insane number of fighters.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

DAMNIT I wish the AI would do that for me. I would just build like 5000 X-wings and 5000 y-wings and 5000 a-wings and 5000 b-wings and have a fun ole' battle. My AI always ends up with like 5 Star destroyers, spread out and SOMETIMES when I put the game on fast mode and don't do anything for a thousand days (To give the AI a headstart) they manage an SSD...

I played a game where by some strange fluke the entire Imperial Fleet was over coruscant, a force of some 200+ ships.

I didn't know this and launched an attack with 98 of my ships. You can guess what happened.

And i thought my fleets were big...having 1 or 2 SSD's in em...sheesh. Though, its nice having a huge fleet, it would be better if i had an enemy to use it on. By the time my fleets are 'big', all thats left of the enemy is like a couple of corvettes, or a single MonCal without any fighter support. Not real exciting. lol

I find that the AI in general doesnt build very big fleets even if I lower the production numbers and the maintenance costs.

As a result I dont build massive fleets like the ones listed here.

My largest fleet consisted of:

8-10 Strike Cruisers

6-8 Imperial StarDestroyers II

1-Super Star Destroyer

15-Lancer frigates

14-16 Victory StarDestroyer IIs

Ful compliment of fighters (usually TIE Defenders)

To me thats a big fleet. Does anyone know how to make the AI build bigger fleets anyway?

I find that giving them ships earlier on, reducing the research number, and lowering the costs to like 30-70 makes them build ships. Last night I decided to lower all of the ship costs to 5 and maintenance to 5 and put research for everything down to 2 on the rebels side and it still didn't work. The trick however is starting off the Rebel HQ with 10 mines and 15 refineries, that way they can manage larger fleets early on and such. It worked and they ended up hitting me with about 15 Dauntless, 15 Corvettes, and like 20 liberators, and some mon cals, and some other stuff. It was pretty fun.

The AI sucks when it comes to being challenging. I hate forcing a battle early on because if I win, that's it for the rest of the game. I just keep building ships and taking planets and it doesn't do a damn thing to stop me.

You can always use RebEd to Colonize most of the outer rim so they get more important planets and then give them a 100 day start. I do this a lot and sometimes it helps but not always.

Yeah, i have the same problem. Im forced into battle early, and then i completly wipe out the rebels. At the end, it seems like im just running around trying to find the rebel HQ, and nothing to battle against. It can get annoying, sending in a huge slow fleet, and finding that the rebels have only a corvette left..and their hiding HQ or other characters.

One quick question though for Skynxynx (sp? Sorry if i spelt it wrong.) How did you change your pictures and the, signature im guessing, to be those clips? Im not computer literate at all, and well, some of the basic things elude me. lol. Thanks.

I like Skyxnex tend not to create huge fleets. My larger fleets usually consist of: 1SSD, 3 Allegiance SD's, 3 ISD III's, 3 VSD II's, 1 Interdicter, 4 Lancers, and 3 or 4 Carracks. Loaded with CloneStormtroopers and a mix of TIE Interceptors, TIE Defenders, and Scimitar Assault bombers. It may not be huge, but it does the trick.-Grand Moff Conway

Good question. I decided to not PM you this because others might have a similar question.

First of all, at the top of the webpage is the Forums blue (blue on my computer anyway) link...if you move your mouse over it a little window should pop up and have some choices. One of them is profile. In profile, you can add to your signature and Avatar (avatar appears under your name).

I use imageshack I believe to host those gifs that you see associated with my name here. Like the Sidious lightning and the Anakin temple march. If you want something similar, you need to upload an image to a hosting service or something. Once you have done so in Profile, you use the following html command ---> link%20to%20picture%20here where the 'link to picture' is where you paste in the hyperlink. So for example lets say my Sidious gif link is http://www.sidioiuskicksbutt I take this link and do it like so -->

http://www.sidioiuskicksbutt and there you have it. If you need any help send me a PM :)

* I had to put spaces in the link thing otherwise it wouldnt show..normally you dont allow any spaces.

Yeah that fleet is ridiculous. Hopefully you had a fast computer to run all of that. However, a battle at that scale would be a LOT OF FUN at least I think so anyway. Hehe.

You know, if you want a different spin on rebellion so that you had two forces like Kaja's fighting each other you could always play a multiplayer game and have your partner agree to just build a fleet and then have a place to meet so you two could duke it out. It would be a matter of manuevering your ships correctly against the enemy force. If it was recorded that would be quite a treat.

I guess this all depends on what size game you're playing.... For example, in a small, easy game it is possible to not build a single ship and win. Even in my very first game (which lasted 4000 days!) the largest fleet i met was an SSD and 2 ISDS, so I've never had trouble against the AI. That said, I did have several huge fleets because after all, what are those shipyards for?

Very cool Mad, more power to the both of you. I'd enjoy seeing that, but I won't ask you guys to try and record it. Instead I'll just hint at it like the boorish jerk that I am... So here goes...

You know I'd pay a very specific sum of 50,000 dollars to two certain people who, well I don't know... Whose names start with Mad, and N3C if they recorded their events in a very unspecific game called... Star Wars Rebellion/Supremacy... Not to say that I would ever ask them to do this of course... heh heh...

Naw I'm just messing around. But anyways that sounds cool, you'll have to describe it to us.
