Why can't I take Coruscant?!

Jonathan
 Share

Question

This is ridiculous! I've played this game many times before, but for some reason, this time, I cannot take over Coruscant. I have a massive fleet above it, and the Emporer is injured staying on Coruscant. So whenever Luke-he has over 900 combat and uber high stats from lots of missions-goes to do any mission on Coruscant, the Emporer stops him! No other man can take on the troops that are on Coruscant to do anything. And the shields have blocked all bombardments and assaults! What can I do?

Thanks,

Jonathan

And what colour is your enchilada?

Umm . . . I mean . . . ah :?

Let's start again

You said that that the shields have blocked your assaults - so like the Colonel asked, how many Shield Gens are there and what's the size of your fleet.

Also, what forces are their on the planet and in your fleet (troops, characters and spec ops)? On the same tocken, what do you have in reserve or on call around the galaxy - so if need be you could bring in some addition troops and ships.

I've experienced fleets of 50+ warships unable to lay waste to a apir of Gen Cors Is. I usually do one of two things, build more ships or try sabotage missions. It'll be hard if Palpis there, though with him injurred it shouldn't be too bad. Of course, it all depends on what else is present on planet.

At least the Empire has a way to solve that problem . . . . Death Star

Hmm, I've never had a bombardment take out shields. Oh and in bombardment if they have a couple level two turrets and you are a small fleet, you will never hit anything, and half your fleet will be gone in a single mistake. I hate those things so much.

Use the rebel's version of the SSD, the Bulwark. That settles assault disputes rather quickly. That or a shit load corvettes... Which made me realize something...

I have about 5 Bulwark Battlecruisers. 3 Mon Cals. A few Liberators, and about 107 fighters...mostly X-Wings. They have one Gen Core 2, and one Gen Core one.

The planet is filled with about 20-30 darktroopers. Not a single special character of mine can get in there and do anything. My Jedi are the only good characters that can do anything, and the Emporer automatically detects them. Any of the other non-force sensitive characters can't stand up to the darktrooper mass army.

One of the main problems is that you are using Luke. The Emperor and him will always face off if one of them is on mission. In order to sabotage those shields, Luke (and any other Force-attuned characters) must stay out of the mission. My advice is to use a team of 4 characters, with the highest espionage you can find. Send in one as the actual agent, and the other three as decoys. I have done it under similar circumstances with Han as the main guy, and Chewie, Page, and Garm as decoys. It worked wonderfully.

Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side!

Even with the 30 dark troopers?

I'll give it a try.

I guess it is just as important to train non-force characters as it is the force, incase you run into dark side entanglements.

Why can't you assault the planet? Even with shields, a planet can still be assaulted. If you get enough wookie regiments, you should be able to take Coruscant; if not the first time, then after continual attacks.

I have exactly the same problem. My fleet is comprised of the following:

2 Bulwarks

5 Mon Cals

6 Nebulon-Bs

2 CC-9600s

10 Corvettes

10 Gunships

5 Escort Carriers

4 Bulk Cruisers

4 Dreadnaughts

2 Liberators

10 Medium Transports

4 Bulk Transports

50 Wookie Regiments

50 X-Wings

10 B-Wings

Coruscant is defended with the following:

6 Imperial Mk. II Star Destroyers

4 Imperial Mk. I Star Destroyers

3 Victory Star Destroyers

3 Escort Carriers

4 Assault Transports

1 SSD

2 Interdictor Cruisers

1 Death Star (Don't ask me why it isn't out there blowing up my planets, cause I don't honestly know.)

8 Lancer Frigates

20 Tie Fighters

20 Tie Interceptors

15 Tie Defenders

20 Dark Trooper Regiments

10 Stormtrooper Regiments

15 Army Regiments

7 Fleet Regiments

Darth Vader

Emperor Palpatine

Admiral Thrawn (Aboard SSD)

General Veers

Even with all that I have, I have not been able to seize Coruscant. Know what I had left after I attacked it with the ships above? Check it out:

0 Bulwarks

2 Mon Cals

2 Nebulon-Bs

0 CC-9600s

3 Corvettes

4 Gunships

1 Escort Carrier

1 Bulk Cruiser

2 Dreadnaughts

0 Liberators

5 Medium Transports

1 Bulk Transport

14 Wookie Regiments

0 X-Wings

0 B-Wings

Admiral Ackbar was killed, General Solo was killed, and Commander Narra was killed.

This is what the Empire had left:

4 Imperial Mk. II Star Destroyers

2 Imperial Mk. I Star Destroyers

1 Victory Star Destroyer

2 Escort Carriers

0 Assault Transports

1 SSD

1 Interdictor Cruisers

1 Death Star (Don't ask me why it isn't out there blowing up my planets, cause I don't honestly know.)

0 Lancer Frigates

0 Tie Fighters

0 Tie Interceptors

0 Tie Defenders

20 Dark Trooper Regiments

10 Stormtrooper Regiments

15 Army Regiments

7 Fleet Regiments

Darth Vader

Emperor Palpatine

Admiral Thrawn (Aboard SSD)

General Veers

Anyone, any advice? Please?!?! :(:(:(

Shields do to make a difference. As soon as a planet has two shields of any type it becomes unassailable(can't assault it).

Admiral Thrawn. There's your problem. Well, not really, but taking him out could make things easier. I'd see if I could abduct him with a bunch of guys. After that, Veers. I don't think you posted a commander so don't worry about that. Keep espionage active and watch for new officers. While there are none, sabotage the most powerful ships. Or, if you aren't going to try for Coruscant now, cripple their transports or escort carriers. Anything with lots of STUFF. Other than that, build up your fleets. Take their best shipyards if you haven't already. If they don't have shipyards, you can build your fleets while they can't. As soon as that happens, build your fleets untill you are dead sure Coruscant will fall. Bothans would be usefull to watch for shipyards...lots and lots of Bothans.

Aaah i think i see why you may have failed  Vader, Palpy, Veers & old red eyes!!!! Abduction time & keep any Jedi (trainee or higher) away. If you have even one they will be spotted. The whole 'disturbance in the force' blah :D

You'd bloody think that if you have a super high control of the Force, you'd be able to "avoid disturbances in their Force". Luke is so powerful from constantly pummeling the Emporer early in the game, he was a Jedi Master before he went to Yoda. He has over 900 combat now. I sent him on one Jedi Training mission with like 5 Jedi including Leia, and almost all of them came back Jedi Masters on the first try! Luke is absolutely amazing, yet, the Emporer can "disturb" his force. Bah humbug!!!

Yup Jedi are great at spotting other jedi, so abduct using non-force weilding characters. Enough of them you may just win.

You could also try the 'Hit and Fade' tactic... Jump into coruscant, wait for all the Tie fighters to launch and get about halfway to you and then run :) For some reason the AI will lose 50-100% of all launched fighters

Want to know a way that will pose a challenge and take time? Send a small fleet to one of your systems, and bombard yourself. General or civilian bombardment. Then the planets will go to the empire. Then you send Han Solo or Chewbacca on missions to sabotage the stuff there, thus increasing their combat ratings and then you can send them to Coruscant and because they aren't force users the emporer won't detect them.

That becomes a problem when Chewie himself is a Jedi! Haha!

Luckily, in the game I'm complaining about in this post, Chewie is not a Jedi. In a multiplayer game my friend and I got going, Chewie was discovered as a Jedi. My friend is scared of the crazy Force-Wookiee!

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

THIS IS NOT FAIR! I JUST SENT EVERYONE I HAD TO CAPTURE THE EMPORER OR DESTROY THE SHIELD GENERATORS! NOTHING WORKED!

I'm really pissed, because no matter what I do, I will not be able to win. :(

No matter how many times I restart over, the guys are going to get captured...the Rebels need a Death Star for these situations because its gay! All the Empire has to do is maintain 2 shield generators and a force user on coruscant, and never lose! *#@!$&*#@^*&^$@^*&$#^@*&$^#*^*$#@^&$#@^$*@^*&$^!^&@!^$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GAH!

Never send all your forces on one mission, they will get detected and screwed.

I've never had a problem with shields, with a decent fleet you should be able to blow them away easily. I only lose one ship if they have a LNR possibly.

I suggested the Bulwark earlier... -Sigh- I guess a suggestion just isn't a suggestion until a webmaster says it. I feel so insignificant. -bawls-

Yeah, Bulwarks are the death-dealers of the Rebellion. Get like 10-20 of them in the fleet and you should be fine

can i suggest adding about 10 bulwarks 20 neb B's and about 50 more corbettes and the same number of gunships then fill them all up with 50-50 mix of x wings and bwings. if you find a heap of fighters in orbit hold back your b wings and send in the gunships and x wings to hunt them down. send the b wings after the interdictors if thay have any in their fleet so if you start to get in trouble you can always jump out and come back later. with your bulwarks and corvettes hit the big ships first and once they have lost the ability to fire back move onto the next target. with all those buggers firing even a ssd won't take long before it's floating dead in space. and if it can still move who cares if it can't shoot anyway. and if ya find a deathstar just use fighters to blow it out of the sky.

Holy sweet mother of Yoda! That would be awesome!

Maybe a more important question for me to ask, what ships should I produce as the Rebel Alliance? I know Bulwarks and X-Wings, but should I have any Assault Frigates? Nebulon-Bs better? Or did the ships you just listed make for a well built fleet?

Also, how would you suggest I keep my mining planets to produce all this chaos? The computer likes to randomly bombard my mining planets and then run off. They know better not to take it over, but its annoying to replace these mining operations.

Thanks!

How did Solo get killed? I was under the impression that the main characters (Luke, Leia, Han, Mon Mothma, Vader, and Palpy) could not die

Replace all of your A-wings and X-wings with Y-wings and B-wings. The heavy bombers have more than double the bombardment rating than the snub fighters. And make sure you have an Admiral on your fleet. Happy Assaulting.
