Jahled Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 Say, I was just thinking how cool it would be to see your fleets actually bombard planets in the tactical game format. You could have little explosions on the planet's surface- perhaps using the same tactical explosion used on ships. Wouldn't this be cool! It would add a new dimension to gameplay, especially when a streek of energy comes up from the planet's surface and vamps one of your ships, because you forgot the planet had type-two defense canons (agaa..) You could use the ion-canon blue flash to indicate the bombardment has been repulsed by planetary shields. Expanding on this, how about replacing the DLLs of system blocades and invasions with a clip of Star Wars film footage. I'm sure Lucas Arts or who ever sits on the franchise wouldn't mind that much.... It's very slow at work today... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
the_mask Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 Sorry to make your slow work day a sad one, too. The blockade pics in the game cannot be replaced by movies, that would be digging into the engine itself. But new pictures are at least possible. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 And we can't include several pictures so it can choose one at random can we? Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Jahled Posted December 12, 2002 Author Posted December 12, 2002 If i'm replacing pictures in the game (for example an Imperial blockade of a system), what format do the pictures have to be in. I'm presuming i'd use Resource Hacker. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 It has to be BMP, in 256 colors, keep the image size the same.Elvis: I don't think that could be done. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
TK421 Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 Nah that is not possible... changing pics...You could do that yoursef, changing it all the time manually Z'anthr saves the world. Sorry about the mess...
Guest JediIgor Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 I wonder if MoO3 will have this... probably Imperium Galactica III though.
Tristar Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 MoOIII? you meant master of orion 3? i heard it was delayed because of raw engine it is going to be published in 2003! i liked MoO2 it was just great before someone stole my CD but it is good it is on my hard driver! i can still play it or perhaps i can't paly it lol
Zag Fel Posted December 22, 2002 Posted December 22, 2002 You need the CD for MOO 2. Trust me I've tried. Best game ever made. *Just finished wiping the Psilons off the face of the galaxy.*
Tristar Posted December 31, 2002 Posted December 31, 2002 I hate Psilons and Ilerians...i like Silicoids...sounds like silicon lol I like playing difficulty when it allows creating your own character for race! then i have this ability to research three technologies at once! I really ruled the galaxy in the Master Of Orion 2 lol
ElvisMiggell Posted December 31, 2002 Posted December 31, 2002 I just don't like turn based games, no matter how good they look or easy to use, turn just annoy me. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Tristar Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 I like turn based games... as i like being in a control of the situation..it is easier to be playing while drinking pops or tea.Real tiem games are ok too... but i am ussually took off too quick!
ElvisMiggell Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Well, i normally play AoE and GB at quite a fast speed, but C & C i play pretty slow. CIV III i can just about bear, but it does annoy me. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Tristar Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 heh, i have some problems because of cable connectio nwhen i tried to play normal games-strategies my firewall didn't give anyone a chance.. i jsut could play action games like- Half life;Counter strike and IGI 2 demo. can't remembre anythign else for now...
Lord_La_forge Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 MoO2 was a great strategy game. But i think the Psilon AI was a bit too "genius". In every game I played, the psilons where the last remaining opponents...
Lord_La_forge Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 By the way... Has anyone played Seven Kingdoms II? Try it! It is one of the best real time strategy games ever made! Superb for multiplay. Like in rebellion, you can send out spies, infiltrators, assasinators and so on. So it's not like other rts games ( I make big horde of unit go kill win.. ) It would be really great to have some new pics in the game. I support the idea... We don't have to get new cutscenes in the game, some pics grabbed out from the movie would be enough..
ElvisMiggell Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Pics from films are generally not a good idea, authorities, when backed by a multi billion pound industry tend to frown on copyright infringement. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Trejiuvanat Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 industries backed by multi-bilion dollar do frown on you taking pics and posting them on a website... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Jahled Posted January 4, 2003 Author Posted January 4, 2003 Ok...try this: I *^%$£"*&^* hate 'licences.' Think of computer games and the ensueing appeal like being seduced by tobacco. They give you the flavor and the addiction; what the heck do they expect folks to do when their little craving isn't addressed? To hell with their authority on a product they don't give a dam about supporting for after five years. The internet was never intended to be a 'polite and consumer-friendly' additional marketing-ploy for corporations, despite what that tosser Gates is attempting to overshadow our lives with (and we hide real-life in our universe of Palpatine!). In being polite to our 'hosts,' (ie: Lucasarts) who do *uck-all in supporting Rebellion, we're achieving nothing. I can think of one update to the game, which did *uck all except if you speak Spanish. They expect the community to leave the game dead and untouched? Sorry, I get a little pissed-off with 'legal-authority,' from time to time. Point is; let's do we want! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Tristar Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 heh i agree, but we need to hide our adresses and been top secret defended then lol Well really that isn't a joke....
Lord_La_forge Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Rebellion hasn't produced such a great income for the company. Many gaming sites doesn't even mention it, others rank it for a weak, middle-class game. You know, it's all about the money. Sad, but true. An average gamer doesn't play games like this. They play quake, warcraft, nfs and nothing else. Not to mention, that Rebellion is far too old for an average customer. The new game is allways the bether than the old. I think, LucasArts won't make a second part, because they think, the first one was a failure....we're tricked
Jahled Posted January 6, 2003 Author Posted January 6, 2003 ...a failure?...As it stands, Rebellion/Supremecy may not have been the greatest of games, I guess it's continuing appeal, especially to the die-hards lurking around on this site, is the capacity for it's manipulation....modifying cards, and new models. The basic game engine with today's compter woh-har could be fantastic. Can you imagine tactical battles with something like a homeworld-engine? Character interaction with actors! Cut scenes replacing virtually every DLL! All that still with the adrenaline-rush of having twelve Star Destroyers and an Executor fully loaded with TIEs and Stormtroopers! I believe a revamped Rebellion is possible, and marketable. It's also the only game, aside from Jedi Knight, that doesn't keep crashing on my computer.... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Lord_La_forge Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Well our die-hard 'brotherhood' is not big enough for LucArts. I think Supremacy is the best str game ever made. ( After Dune 2 ) I'll gues, we have to wait.... and MODify...
Jahled Posted January 6, 2003 Author Posted January 6, 2003 Lucarts provide the product, we the consumer get hooked, the dealer moves town....we end up trying to smoke the front lawn....... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
