Orbital Bombardment.

Say, I was just thinking how cool it would be to see your fleets actually bombard planets in the tactical game format. You could have little explosions on the planet's surface- perhaps using the same tactical explosion used on ships. Wouldn't this be cool! It would add a new dimension to gameplay, especially when a streek of energy comes up from the planet's surface and vamps one of your ships, because you forgot the planet had type-two defense canons (agaa..) You could use the ion-canon blue flash to indicate the bombardment has been repulsed by planetary shields.

Expanding on this, how about replacing the DLLs of system blocades and invasions with a clip of Star Wars film footage. I'm sure Lucas Arts or who ever sits on the franchise wouldn't mind that much....

It's very slow at work today... 8O

Sorry to make your slow work day a sad one, too. The blockade pics in the game cannot be replaced by movies, that would be digging into the engine itself. But new pictures are at least possible.

If i'm replacing pictures in the game (for example an Imperial blockade of a system), what format do the pictures have to be in. I'm presuming i'd use Resource Hacker. 8O

By the way... Has anyone played Seven Kingdoms II? Try it! It is one of the best real time strategy games ever made! Superb for multiplay. Like in rebellion, you can send out spies, infiltrators, assasinators and so on. So it's not like other rts games ( I make big horde of unit go kill win.. )

It would be really great to have some new pics in the game. I support the idea... We don't have to get new cutscenes in the game, some pics grabbed out from the movie would be enough..

Pics from films are generally not a good idea, authorities, when backed by a multi billion pound industry tend to frown on copyright infringement.

Ok...try this: I *^%$£"*&^* hate 'licences.' Think of computer games and the ensueing appeal like being seduced by tobacco. They give you the flavor and the addiction; what the heck do they expect folks to do when their little craving isn't addressed? To hell with their authority on a product they don't give a dam about supporting for after five years.

The internet was never intended to be a 'polite and consumer-friendly' additional marketing-ploy for corporations, despite what that tosser Gates is attempting to overshadow our lives with (and we hide real-life in our universe of Palpatine!).

In being polite to our 'hosts,' (ie: Lucasarts) who do *uck-all in supporting Rebellion, we're achieving nothing. I can think of one update to the game, which did *uck all except if you speak Spanish. They expect the community to leave the game dead and untouched?

Sorry, I get a little pissed-off with 'legal-authority,' from time to time.

Point is; let's do we want!

Rebellion hasn't produced such a great income for the company. Many gaming sites doesn't even mention it, others rank it for a weak, middle-class game. You know, it's all about the money. Sad, but true. An average gamer doesn't play games like this. They play quake, warcraft, nfs and nothing else. Not to mention, that Rebellion is far too old for an average customer. The new game is allways the bether than the old. I think, LucasArts won't make a second part, because they think, the first one was a failure....

we're tricked :?

...a failure?...As it stands, Rebellion/Supremecy may not have been the greatest of games, I guess it's continuing appeal, especially to the die-hards lurking around on this site, is the capacity for it's manipulation....modifying cards, and new models. The basic game engine with today's compter woh-har could be fantastic. Can you imagine tactical battles with something like a homeworld-engine? Character interaction with actors! Cut scenes replacing virtually every DLL! All that still with the adrenaline-rush of having twelve Star Destroyers and an Executor fully loaded with TIEs and Stormtroopers! I believe a revamped Rebellion is possible, and marketable.

It's also the only game, aside from Jedi Knight, that doesn't keep crashing on my computer.... :(
