OOC: I want to join. My character:

Name: Kyp Baba

Nationality: Ewoc

Skills: Highly advanced.

And thats all I am going to let on....

Just a few questions:

Where are we? What planet? and Where can a 'highly' advanced Ewoc fit in?

Or I could play a Bothan Embassitor with a serious attitude. Just ell me the details and I'll see what I can think up.

The shadows are my friend, for in them I find comfort.

But when it comes to war, I'll be with you in a minute.

OOC: We are at hefi, neutral world in which rebels/imps fighting over.

Rebels just beat off Imp fleet after a wee bit of a scrap. Diplomacy is now starting, and people are just getting into it.

IC:

Rattler sighed as he turned over for the umpteenth time in his pilot seat. The X-Wing's cockpit was so small... he hated long trips.

He had tried to catch as much sleep as he could over the 15 hour hyperspace flight, but he hadn't gotten much.

"Beep, beep, beep, beep," Jon, known as Rattler to all in his group, reached over and turned off the 2 minute alarm.

They were 2 minutes out from arriving in Hefi. 4 X-wings and a lambda combat shuttle... Mercanaries for hire, known as Rattler's Mercanaries. Hefi had hired them and several other mercanary divisions in an attempt to protect themselves in the fight between the Empire and the Republic.

There were few mercanaries in the galaxy... it was hard to maintain the numbers, but Rattler and his band had always survived.

Rattler counted down the final few seconds and then pulled out of hyperspace, hoping that he wasn't going to be met by hostile forces.

OOC: Welcome aboard Rattler3 and Jess! :D !

IC: "On the contrary General, I never said that he did the wrong thing. In fact, I would have done the same thing if I were put in his shoes."

Karn then turned to the Cadet and re-itereated the General's question.

"So, who is this father the General's talking of?"

OOC:

Ok, so far, I've kinda been GMing this thing due to lack of opposition, plus, I kinda had the original plan.

Summary of what's happened: New Republic task force has gone to Hefi to negotiate the planet's entry into the Republic, both for use as an Outer Rim base and for Hefi's rather rich raw ore reserves. Upon getting to the system, the task force was ambushed by an Imperial fleet. One Imperial strike cruiser was destroyed, with a large number of escape pods making to Hefi's surface.

Characters *I* see a need for:

Bothan ambassador - This guy has already had his mission pushed back a couple of days due to security concerns. Think Fel'lya at his worst, in terms of character: popous, self-important, and above all this military nonsense.

IMPERIALS (please) - Jump in with Imperial characters, either on the planet or as part of another fleet (one just withdrew); so far, the good guys have been directing the bad guys, running them through inference, and it'd be double-cool to have somebody else setting up the oppositions plans and goals and such.

Outside of those, jump in with whomever wherever you see a need for them. An Ewok could well be a NR crewmember, as this is post-Endor. Maybe one decided to come along and join up.

"I...I don't believe it!"

"THAT is why you fail."

IC: As Brandei:

Alex looked at Karn "My name's Alex Brandei, sir. My father is an Imperial captain, one of those still unaccounted for since Endor. Given that we haven't heard from him since then, the family assumes he's still fighting under some Imperial warlord or other."

"Dad had mentioned some of the sensor technology the Imperials were working on pre-Endor; something about how some Admiral had hit on the idea that too much time and effort was being put into cloaking technology, trying to eliminate sensor data instead of directly targeting those sensors and feeding whatever information you wanted them to see. I made a guess, when I saw a shuttle where a Strike Cruiser was being reported, that something like that was happening."

Alex turned to General Drelin and pleaded "But I haven't had any contact with him, sir, I swear. I would have reported it if he'd tried. I just remembered something he'd mentioned, once."

"I...I don't believe it!"

"THAT is why you fail."

As Drelin:

"Of course you haven't, Cadet. Did it ever occur to you that if you'd just spoken up about your family history, we'd have been able to plumb you for information? You're a high-quality intelligence source if nothing else; you're here to contribute, not pay for something you didn't have any control over."

"Here's what's going to happen. I, also, know something about Imperial technology, and I know what they were doing today is beyond the hardware capabilities they're known to have. Cadet Brandei, I'm promoting you to Sergeant and reassigning you to my personal staff as an intelligence analyist; this way, you can report something directly to me, rather than clogging up in-battle fleet-wide communications."

"Major Karn, you are going to work with the Sergeant and help him come up with a working estimate of this technology. You know Imperial tactics and technology well; you should be a great help to each other. As soon as possible, I want an idea of hardware requirements, limitations, power usage, the whole works. Most importantly, I need some ideas on how to counter it."

"Work from Karn's ship; I know, Major, that your head will explode if you're not able to oversee that fine crew of yours, even though you and I both know they don't need you. Get any data from the combat readings before you leave; all our ships data feed was cross-linked to the Alderaan's bridge."

"Let's get to it, gentlemen."

Drelin stood up and thumbed his communicator "I'm coming back up to the bridge. Make sure that smuggler is there, and make sure the rest of the mercenaries we're carrying are ready for that comm conference I requested."

"I...I don't believe it!"

"THAT is why you fail."

Drelin stopped on his way out the door.

"Oh, one more thing you'll need, Major. We're carrying the latest Fabritech sensor upgrade package, something our team "liberated" from Imperial storage on Coruscant and has been playing with since. We don't have enough to refit the entire task force, but you'll need it for your task. I trust you won't object to a sensor upgrade for the Wanderer if it's on our credit, correct?"

"Get with my technicians and they'll install it whenever you're ready."

"I...I don't believe it!"

"THAT is why you fail."

Rattler swore as he saw the fleet ahead of them.

"Stand by," he said quickly over his comm as he reviewed the date.

One Mon Cal cruiser, a pair of frigates, some corvettes and a spattering of other ships, all brodcasting as New Republic forces.

"Alright, Give out the IFF codes we were told to use... I'm going to contact Hefi Authorities."

Jon signed off and put in a call to Hefi.

"Hefi control, this is Red flight of 5 requesting orders and a vector."

A pause. Just as he was about to press the button and say again the reply came.

"Red flight, hold fire unless fired upon. Vector is 231.5. We'll see you on the grount, out."

The good news was it appeared the New Republic was friendly. Jon had no real preference for either side... he'd fought for both. He charged about 30% more whenever he worked for the empire, but he was just out making a living.

Defending Hefi was that living now... even from New Republic forces if he had too.

Rattler switched channels.

"Vector 231.5 ladies... hold fire." 4 comm clicks answered him

They turned to the vector and another channel opened up.

"Unidentified targets, This is the New Republic Cruiser Alderaan. Hold your position and power down your weapons."

Rattler swore. "Negative, we are Hefi defense forces. You will now clear the comm," he replied as courteously as they could.

"I repeat, power down or you will be treated as hostile." A flight for 4 X-wings banked towards them in the distance.

"Once again I say Negative... We will not fire unless fired upon. Contact Hefi Control if you need confirmation."

A pause. "Give us a moment. Please hold your position." He was probably gonna ask someone higher up...

And in the meantime the X-Wings would reach them...

"Accelerate to full speed..." Rattler glanced at his sensors. "Keep moving. They'll intercept us... 2 minutes out from landing. They fire on us there and they'd have to conquer this planet probably... I hope."

Karn got out his chair, and looked across at Alex with a baffled face. Nevertheless, he now had a new assignement - a very new assignment, Karn had never done anything to do with intellegence gathering or assessing.

"So cade . . . ah, Sergeant - I guess we'll head off to the Reckless Wonderer and set up their. There's a moderately large cargo hold as well as passenger space onboard my vessel that currently isn't being used. We can turn that into our work area.

"I guess now, we need to organise what equipment an personal we'll need to get this done."

General Drelin stepped onto the bridge just in time to hear the tail end of the conversation with the X-wings inbound to the planet.

Hefi Defense Force? Oh, for cying out loud....

Drelin came up behind the Alderaan's captain as he was discussing the matter with a subordinate. "Let them go, Captain."

"But, sir, nothing was said about any "defense force" when we were invited here for talks!"

"True. We also didn't say anything about bringing what could be seen as an invasion force, or about fighting a battle in close orbit to their planet, for that matter. Those are mercs if I've ever seen the beast, but we're not the ones to say the Hefians can't have them. Besides, it's a few fighters; what's your concern?"

"Yes, sir." Clearly not liking the order, he leaned into the comm and said "Hefi Defense Force, continue on your present course. We will provide fighter escort as far as the atmosphere...there has been Imperial activity in the area."

Drelin grunted and turned as the bridge doors opened, a squad of troopers bringing in the pilot they'd snagged earlier.

"Well, welcome, captain. Some reason you thought you'd try delivering your cargo in the middle of a pitched battle and without a transponder operating? Couldn't have anything to do with any, uh, irregularities with your cargo, would it?"

"I...I don't believe it!"

"THAT is why you fail."

"The transponder was merely a technical fault, Sir" said Arten, enjoying the officer's look of disdain at his use of the title. "As for the arrival in the middle of the battle - by the time i realised what was going on, there wasn't a lot i could do about it. I don't usually exit hyperspace to find myself in the middle of a battle. I guess you could say that i wasn't exactly expecting to arrive in the middle of a crossfire. You know how it is."

"I do indeed," said the captain in an entirely unconvincing tone, that had all the hallmarks of actually meaning maybe, but you're still an idiot anyway...

The captain reclined in his chair, seemingly taking delight in drawing out his sentences.

"What are we going to do with you?"

"I thank you, my friend, for it is in your death that the Scorekeeper finds my true worth."

-T'char, to the recently deceased Admiral Torin Khel

IC: Karn stepped onto the bridge of his ship. The dull light arced across the metallic floor illuminating crude rivets and welds where over the years his ship had been repaired or modified.

The Reckless Wanderer had moved into an escort position for the Alderaan so it could be used as a temporary base of operations for intelligence gathering.

The bridge of his ship was eerily silent, with the exception of two technicians and a few droids, the bridge was empty of the usually commotion of crewmen doing their jobs.

Finding his way to his chair on the bridge, Karn sat down heavily and allowed himself to slouch.

He had sent Sergeant Brandei to gather any equipment necessary for their intelligence mission. Mean while, he'd been setting up his ship for the necessary modifications that the New Republic were going to perform, as well as setting up space for the other equipment and personal coming aboard.

Karn was frustrated and tired. Organising his hip to have these modifications done without a shipyard present made things far more complicated. Worse, Karn was still searching the fleet for someone to go planet side and try and round up any Imperials that escaped the destruction of the Strike Cruiser. He couldn't send any Republic ships due to the political side of things - he needed someone independent that could go to the planet without the Hefians knowing what was going on and without getting the New Republic into trouble.

Karn closed his eyes and began to drift off to a much-needed sleep. Though it was short lived as a Republic technician awoke him.

“Sir, we’ve installed the new equipment and tested it all – it appears to be functioning perfectly.â€

Jon brought the X-Wing down gently to the ferrocrate landing pad, shut down the engine and popped the cockpit. Seeing now Ladder, he vaulted out of the cockpit, bending his knees to absorb the shock. Beside him the 3 other pilots vaulted out as well, as the Lambda shuttle opened up and a pair of blaster toting soldiers came out.

They were there 2 armed guards. They were just to protect there ships when they were on the ground. The lambda also held a couple techs as well as spare parts/torpedoes.

A squad of 4 Hefi Defense troopers were making there way over to them. Jon waved over his pilots.

"Jeff, watch the set up. Searcy, Tara, lets go meet the customers." He turned and started walking towards the Hefi defense troopers.

They were lead to a small empty office where they were left sitting for 5 minutes. A guard finally came in and told them to follow him. They followed him into a much more extravagant office.

Jon saluted at the figure, who had a general insignia, and the general returned the salute.

"Welcome to Hefi," he said simply.

"Thank you sir. I assume your the rankiog military officer?"

He shook his head. "No, I'm your liason officer. Your orders come from higher ups... I'm General Mulroon. We're glad you came. We had no space based defenses until you showed up. The other mercanaries we hired are still 3 weeks out... But they'll be bringing in more firepower."

Jon nodded. "So, whats the sorta stuff you need us to do?"

"For now, 2 pilots on standby... in the air within 2 minutes of us calling you. We'll give you forewarning if we require additional uses of you."

Beside Jon Searcy blurted out, "Stance on the New Republic?"

The general glared at him for a moment, and suddenly it seemed like Searcy remembered something. "Apologies sir," he said quickly.

Mulroon nodded and said, "Fire only if fired upon... That's all you need to know. Dismissed, someone will show you to your quarters."

They saluted and walked out.

They followed some private to a small facility near there fighters... it was actually just for them, no one else would be using them.

They took rooms and coverted one of the rooms to a planning room. About 2 hours later and they were all set up, so Jon called a meeting with the other pilots.

"Alright guys, Jeff, Searcy, you guys are on first stand by. 12 hour shifts. 2 minutes to get there, do whatever you want during that time. Tara, you and me are going to hit the streets... get the lowdown on what the populace thinks."

Jon got a couple of weird looks. "Hey, I just wanna know, ok?" They slowly nodded and went on there ways.

Blue and white lights flickered across furry Kre’ Nel's face as she searched the databank on the Republic Task force. She and Karn had been looking for someone to send down to the planet on a special mission, and time was of the essence - yet, neither could find anyone on board the Task Force suited to the job. They were in the small briefing room aboard his ship, using the it to access the task force's computer network.

Karn rubbed his poorly shaven face in frustration. He was about to give up when the Kre' Nel called him.

"Sir, I think I've found something."

Walking over to her computer, Karn started to read what she had found. A large smiled arced across his face as the name the Bothan had highlighted brought memeories of an old friend back.

"Well, I don't belive it! What's that old pirate doing here? Kre' Nel - contact Ulic and get him over here ASAP. Tell him I've got a job right up his alley, tell him it'll remind him of Bespin - though this time the shoes on the other foot."

Captain Kre'Nel headed off towards communications as Karn straightened his back. Turning to her as she left, Karn quickly got in a few words before she left the station.

"Oh, and Biree - stop calling me sir."

As she exited the room, and with a hint of laughter, she called from around the corner, "Yes sir."

Ulic was on his back his,YT-2400 still battered from the the repairs it need earlier, replacing a damaged panel. Wireing was exposed and Ulic's head was directly under a metal bulk head. His comlink beeped and he jumped clanking his head on the underside, he cursed and grabbed the comlink. He left everything as it was and started off towards the briefing room.

"It's not my fault!"

OOC: Okay I'd be a Bothan Ambasitor but I'll need a little help with the plot and how he fits in. This like what his mission was and why it was rejected and what not. But I'll try my best to do the rest.

Name: Hunt Bandi

Type: Bothan

Job: Ambassitor

Others: Bad temper and no nonsense.

Hows that sound?

OOC: I'll take over as the Hefian government... i am the defense force after all.

IC:

"So we're decided. We shall hear the talks from the rebels."

The other 8 council members nodded.

Head Councillor Iodit Thrumium was leading the council in the meeting. The council was elected, and he was in essence the president of the world.

"We shall then compare it to what the Imperials offered us and make our decision. The third group of mercanaries that we hired should be more then enough to defend us."

Only the council and a select few knew of the third and most powerful group they had hired. They cost millions of credits but were incredibly able.

"Any questions? No? Very well, i shall open communications." He waved dismissal and the other members filed out.

He pressed a button for his comlink. "Establish Contact with the Alderran."

A few moments Passed.

"Alderran here."

Iodit waited for a moment. "Alderran, this is Head Councillor Iodit Thrumium, elected leader of Hefi. May I please talk to the leading official who will be dealing with us?"

OOC: This is what I'll do to start off with, tell me if its okay.

BIC:

Hunt Bandi was in a rage, his mission was not being successful and he hated failing. Hunt was a tall Bothan standing at 6'5' and his muscular fame was well worked.

"Get on the commlink. I need to talk to the General," he barked at a cowering officer in the corner. No one liked him when he was in these moods so it was best not to argue.

OOC: Post got cut short, I'll continue later.

OOC:

Sounds good Jess! :D

If you want, I can work your Ewok character (that's if you're still using it) into helping Ulic find some Imperial's on planet.

IC:

"Looks like I'm not the only one looking for a job these days," Karn said with a grin. Ulic had just entered Karn's quarters and taken a seat when Karn began briefing him on his mission.

"Though, we wont get time to talk about the old days. I need you for a pretty important mission. I need you to go down to the planet Hefi - with out any ties to the New Republic - and "rescue" some stranded Imperials on the planet. And in your good will, you can drop them off to the Republic fleet for their "debriefing".

"I can authorise you the use of any equipment on board the task force, though no personal that are part of the New Republic. So anyone you take are either off duty or not part of the New Republic."

Ulic's face was unreadable as he considered the offer Karn was giving him. If he chose not to accept, Karn didn't know if there was any other way of getting the Imperials into New Republic custody before they were apprehnded by the local authorities.

He could only hope his old friend was up to the mission, and accept it.

Ulic rolled the thought over in his mind and then sighed and stood up. "Alright, I'll do it but I'm calling in my own team. So how long before I head planetside?" he asked...

"It's not my fault!"

"Oh yeah? What's in it for me?"

Smilling, Karn replied. "As soon as possible. We need those Imperials to try and solve some little problems the Empire have cooked up. I'm glad you accepted the mission, it should be a blue milk run - just picking up Imperials from downed escape pods. Though, don't underestimate them - they'll probably put up a fight if they get the chance."

Ulic got up, and headed for the doorway - his face showed the signs of intense thought. As he exited the room, Karn called out to him for a quick tease.

"Hey Ulic, be careful out there - if anything goes wrong, I wont hisitate to call the entire task force down to help. Well, actually, it'll be more like any ship I can convince to go AWOL. Which means it'll just be me . . . ah, don't get into any trouble down there."

Ulic smilied as he exited the room, and Karn did as well. For the first time in quiet a long time, Karn was beginning to feel like his old self again.

Ulic walked out of the room and into the communications center. Bringing up a map of the surrounding systems and running through a list a of possible contacts outside of the New Republic Intel. It was a short list, to many of his closest friends were in the New Republic, but even anyone could help...

"It's not my fault!"

"Oh yeah? What's in it for me?"
