Valliet Posted August 13, 2004 Author Posted August 13, 2004 (edited) That's most likely the reason. Imperial females were supposed to be rare, but there were quite a lot of them in high positions (more than you would have expected). I would understand if they were self-appointed, but most weren't. Isard was nothing new after Daala and Tavira and the 'evil female' thing started to lose significant impact. BadSamaritan Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Actually, most of the "Evil Females" mae it to that position because of their overall brilliance. Daala proved herself as a tactician at Carida, Iceheart managed to backstab her way into power, and Tavira wasnt appointed as an Admiral until after Endor, when a lot of females started to rise in the ranks of the imperial navy becuase of the empires need for decent tacticians. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Valliet Posted August 13, 2004 Author Posted August 13, 2004 Daala wasn't an official Admiral either. Her lover, Tarkin, gave her that position secretly, for no matter how brilliant you were, if you were a female the Empire would still give you a hard time. Most were special cases, especially in the case of Isard, who actually got her position with consent of the Emperor. BadSamaritan Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Secret or not, Daala was still an Admiral. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Valliet Posted August 13, 2004 Author Posted August 13, 2004 And a capable one, but my point was, having too many brilliant female warlords gets old after awhile (though I have to admit, Isard was the coolest and most unique). The initial shock of a high positioned female in a very sexist Empire wore off after the first three or four... Vero Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Funny how stackpole was the one to kill znisj off huh....
Trejiuvanat Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 It was not Stackpole. Dave Wolverton killed him in Courtship of Princess Leia. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Valliet Posted August 14, 2004 Author Posted August 14, 2004 I still think it should have been Wraith Squadron who took Zsinj down. Most of their missions were anti-Zsinj, and they were formed as a new addition for the hunt for him. It would have been better if their efforts had amounted to something... Trejiuvanat Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 They killed his financial support, but Han Solo had to have the honor of killing him.. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Vero Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Or Dave Wolverton lol. I thought it said Micheal Stackpole. O well Was that all Wraith Squadron was built for? Didnt they lose their X-Wing commision after the thought they destroyed Znsij?
Valliet Posted August 14, 2004 Author Posted August 14, 2004 Yeah, but they were reinstated for the Vong invasion I think. (See 60 Standard Minutes Episode #9 for more info. ) "Uh...Crespin, I'd like to reconsider the terms of my surrender..." -The last heroic words of Admiral Apwar Trigit
Trejiuvanat Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 They didn't lose it, they just transferred to Intelligence, I once mailed Aaron Allston about the same thing, he told me that he had intended them to do Intelligence mission with their X-Wings. So essentially what Wedge had meant for Starfighter command as a commando-pilot unit was utilized later by NRI. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Valliet Posted August 28, 2004 Author Posted August 28, 2004 Doh! My mistake... So, wasn't Wraith Squadron with Intelligence to begin with? i thought they were only a secondary flight team and a Commando unit first... Trejiuvanat Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Yep, but they were assigned to Starfighter Command, then after the Zsinj Campaign they were assigned to Intel were Cracken could get to order them around, and leave WEdge alone for a few years... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Vero Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Think any books will be about about them between Zsnij(spelling...been awhile) and the Vong Campiagn?
Trejiuvanat Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Not really... Del Rey dropped the whole X-Wing Series, when they got the publishing rights. So there's little hope for a book. Since Allston will write some SW books, perhaps he'll be asked to write an e-book or a Insider Short Story. In a mail he told me that he did have some ideas for what the Wraiths were up to between the Zsinj Campaign and the Coruscant mission. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Vero Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 So zsinj was around in full character for only 5 or 6 books? How cheap. No wonder there is no information about him. And what a cheap way to end a good series of Wraith Squadron and Rogue Squardron. Are there any book depicting Rogue Sqaud between Znisj and Vong?
Valliet Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 Zsinj hardly made any direct appearances himself, so technically he was only 'in' about 3 or 4 books at the most (I agree, it sucks, I hate the way his character is so unexplored ). I'm pretty sure it follows Rogue Squadron during the Vong Invasion, but I think they've already dropped Wraith Squadron entirely (for now). Any confirmation, Trejiuvanat? "Uh...Crespin, I'd like to reconsider the terms of my surrender..." -The last heroic words of Admiral Apwar Trigit
Trejiuvanat Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Zsinj has a holograhic appearance in Wraith Squadron, and is a character in Iron Fist, Solo Command and the Courtship of Princess Leia. The Rogues are loosely followed through out NJO, especially Stackpole's and Allston's books deal with them. Allston retakes the Wraiths for the Coruscant mission in his Enemy Lines Duology. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted August 31, 2004 SWR Staff - Executive Posted August 31, 2004 Also Allston is in line to write some books post-NJO. Hopefully we will see the Wraiths there too. Vero Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 So i guess i should pick up the NJO series eh, how many are there again?
Valliet Posted September 4, 2004 Author Posted September 4, 2004 I believe there are 19 books in the series (so far). "Uh...Crespin, I'd like to reconsider the terms of my surrender..." -The last heroic words of Admiral Apwar Trigit
Vero Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 so far....u mean there are more coming? Doesnt the series deal with the Vong invasion? What else could happen?
Krytos Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 There are officially 20 novels and 1 e-book for the NJO series - and unfortunately no more The NJO finished with The Unifying Force, though there are some post-NJO books coming out eventually. Here's a list of the NJO books: 1) Vector Prime2) Dark Tide I: Onslaught3) Dark Tide II: Ruin4) Agents of Choas I: Hero's Trial5) Agents of Choas II: Jedi Eclipse6) Balance point7) Recovery (Not really sure why this is listed, I got it with Star by Star as the prologue)8 ) Edge of Victory I: Conquest9) Edge of Victory II: Rebirth10) Star by Star11) Dark Journey12) Enemy Lines I: Rebel Dream13) Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand14) Traitor15) Destiny's Way15b) Ylesia (e-book, and half way through Destiny's Way)16) Force Heretic I: Remnant17) Force Heretic II: Refugee18 ) Force Heretic III: Reunion19) The Final Prophecy20) The Unifying Force http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Valliet Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 so far....u mean there are more coming? Doesnt the series deal with the Vong invasion? What else could happen? Well, the series was popular so I'm sure they'll find a way of squeezing more in (extra prequels to mid-series novels, perhaps.... ) I wish they would do that with the X-Wing series...
