Star Wars: Battlefront

There was some talk a while ago about Star Wars: Battlegrounds and the vehicles/units etc. that would be in it. One particular question related to the use of AT-AT walkers. It seems that we were all wrong in our conclusions that it would not be present in the game:

Here we see an Imperial AT-AT walker under attack from some rebel scum. I looks like it is taking damage from some rebel heavy-laser cannons, and htere seems to be some engine glow behind it from a fighter of some sort. I suppose it could be a computer controlled unit, but if it is player controlled it adds some excitment to the game.

This is from the Battle of Hoth map. Again we see the AT-AT in front with some AT-STs in the back. Looks like the rebels will be pressed for good vehicles as they are forced to ride tauntauns into battle.

This screen from the Kamino map answers my question about fighters. I don't need to explain this image, as I'm sure we all know what it shows. A new question arises though: How does a battle droid man a Droid fighter?

Ok, this is the last image I'll bog this topic down with. Of all the thing's I've wanted to do in a game, dropping out of one of these clone trooper drop-ships is near the top of my list. It's the closest you'll get to a helocopter in the SW univers, and it's just plane cool.

 

Definitely keep an eye on this game. I think that it will be the redemption for the series of terrible console games LA has been pumping out in recent months (excluding KotR that is).

Battlefront you mean Other than that, SWEET! It looks GREAT! And with my experiances in BF 1942, I should be at home here I can't wait, I do think the At-At will be player manned.

Aye, I meant Battlefrount. Battlegrounds is the RTS. I, too, am hoping that the AT-ATs will be player controlled. If not, there's allways the AT-STs .

For the droid starfighter question I have theorie.

1. The droid pilot could control it from the ground

2. He could get in it who cares how its only for fun.

at http://www.gamespot.com there is a movie interview that says the AT AT will be playable, of course if its like the other battlefield games that may mean the rebels can take control of it no problem

Well if an AT-AT is somehow available and the Imps have abandoned it, they would have to be some really dumb Imperials.

But there is one question I need an answer to: If I get the XBox version and go on XBox Live, will I be able to play against you and your Computer versions?

I am just asking because my computer is so blooming slow. But I can already imagine. Starting up the game and seeing: GAT DJ AA Fishface all on the same map brings tears to my eyes

I read in PC Gamer (I think) that there will be restrictions on vehicle hi-jacking. FOr example, if a vehicle is abandoned in the middle of the battlefield, the opposing team can take control of it. However, if the vehicle is inside an enemy base, it can only be controlled by that faction. Also, if a base is captured the vehicles will convert to the capping faction's.

 

As for a clan, I think we could get a lot of people to join an SWR clan, though it would be better to simply play without a clan. The tast of forming a heirarchy can be a pain.

We wouldn't really need anyone in command, in games like this you just put the clan name and play together. We could have hmm...Mad, Thrawn, Fishace, Spamtilliles and I.

The hijacking thing is good to know

We'll probably be the first clan for the game. I doubt there are any out there yet, since the game is still about two months away from release (September 21). The only problem we will have is that some of us (me) will refuse to fight as the rebels, unless the there are not spots on the Imperial side .

Yeah, I don't like fighting on the Allied side in bf 1942 Ah well, we'll have to suck it up. It won't matter If we're there owning everyone

My only problem is that it won't play on my computer which is too old. So I will have to wait to buy a new one before I join... But keep me a spot in the clan.

Nice mad, thought perhaps the lightsbers could be replaced by blasters, since there will be no Jedi in the game? We'll save you a spot, not to worry. How much would you have to upgrade to play, do you think?

I would have to upgrade everything. Considering that my current computer is 576Mhz. My dad says we are going to get a new one... Next year.

Looks cool Mad! I hope you can get your new computer soon,....or play with us on your Xbox Actually, there will be Jedi in the game....kind of. There are ways to call heros like Vader and whatnot. When they take so much damage, they disappear but they'll be deadly.
