Well, I will start if off. Lets discuss what would have happened if Vader never through the emperor off the ledge inside the Death Star 2? What events, do you think would have occured.

Hmmm let's see. Luke would have died but the Emperor and Vader would have also. The New Republic would probably have begun but somewhere down the line would have collapsed due to lack of Jedi.

Well, the Rebel fleet may not have won. If you remember it was Palpatine that controlled many of his people. And when he died they became confused.

Alright, new scenario: Lets say that the rebel attack on the shield generator failed. But, Vader and Palpatine both die and Luke lives just like the movies. Only exception is shield generator never destoryed. NOw what?

I think the Alliance would have become the New Republic, it just would have died later

Luke would have sabotaged the Death Star from the inside, and died trying to escape.

Hmpf that's a good one. The death star would have held out and the Alliance would have retreated in disary. Even if the Emperor died, the Death star was still a death star. The Empire would collapse after the battle though

Luke would prbbaly just have tried to escpe the Death Star and return to the Rebel Headquarters and try again another day to destory the death star.

Well, if the Death Star wasn't destroyed, then most of the fleet at Endor would have remained intact, perhaps even the Executor. One of the reasons the Empire got whopedwas because most of the compitent officers were lost at Endor.
