Favourite Quote

Recommended Posts

Another one of these useless but generally funny 'favourite ...' things.

Question this time: What's your favourite quote from the SW movies, the books, comics, games, whatever, or make that the favourite three or whateveryou see fit.

Now all I need to do is think of some myself...

Does it have to be from StarWars, or can I use any other movie/book/whateva ?

Either way, I'd have to think of one myself now ... :?

The three best quotes from Timothy Zahn...

 "YOU WILL KILL SKYWALKER!"-The Emperor's last command to Mara Jade.

 "But, it was so artistically done." -The dying Grand Admiral Thrawn.

 "Terrific, we can't use blasters, and we can't use lightsabers. So how did the Jedi of that era deal with them?" "Mostly they ran away, I can't remember a single story of a jedi taking out a shield one on his own." Luke and Mara when faced with a fully functional droideka.

Yes and for those of you who haven't read the books...Here is an important moment.

 Luke: "You know, when we were fighting those sentinels down there, something happened to me, To us. We were so close in the Force that it was like we'd become a single person. It was...it was something very special."

 Mara: "Really? How special?"

 Luke: "You're not going to make this easy for me, are you?"

 Mara: "Oh, come now, when have I ever made anything easy for you?"

 Luke: "Not very often. Mara...will you marry me?"

 Mara: "You mean if we get out of here alive?"

 Luke: "I mean regardless."

:arrow::arrow: Mara: "Yes I willl."

You know only a Jedi would propose when they're about to die

One of my favorites is:

"If I could control the Force I would use it to scratch my back while I am in my cockpit."

You did make that up didn't you, mad?

I believe that was one of Ton Phanan's remarks to Tyria regarding her limited use of the Force, and what he'd do if he were Force-capable. Cool line.

My favorites from the books:

"Yub yub, Commander" -Wes Janson, regarding the 'fictional' Ewok pilot.

"Wes...they're doing it to me again." -Wedge Antilles, regarding the Wraiths' tendency to come up with unorthodox strategies and tactics.

My favorites from the movies:

See my signature.

Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy ;)

-"As you wish..."

-"He's no good to me dead..."

-"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me."

-"Put Captain Solo in the Cargo Hold"

-"AaaaaAAaaaaaa!!"

Yes, the X-Wing series is great but my favorite is and will always be the Thrawn Trilogy by master writer Timothy Zahn. Period.

Amen...Bow before the ultimate throne of power in the Star Wars universe you shall...that of Grand Admiral Timothy Zahn.

"You learn alot about a ship's architecture when you're dodging blaster bolts.." - Luke Skywalker, Survivor's Quest

"A question Captain?" - Grand Admiral Thrawn, Any of the Dark Force Rising Books...

"Happy landings and try not to cut off your own feet along the way." - Mara Jade, Vision of the Future

I've been disappointed with most fothe other books, there writing isn't all that good alot of times... Truce at Bakura was pretty BAD for example. Vector Prime in terms of story is good but the writing isn't that good and it lacks the real desperate feel that Zahn brings to allot of the Books. In some Ways he's the Tom Clancy of Star Wars. Except he writes better then Clancy...(Better Character development which is Clancy's weakest link.)

I think Zahn writes with a sense of conviction. Reall feeling the chracters and trying to think about "What would Luke say right now?" and go with it. I think he understands what Star Wars is, and I belive that is why his books are thought of well from most SW fans.

Favorite movie quote: "Who's 'scruffy-lookin'?'" -Han

Favorite book quote: Not exactly a quote, but the entire Dod, Fod and Lod scene from Wraith Squadron. I laugh just thinking about it.

If I had to pick one actual quote, it would probably be this one, though it's really hard to choose:

"Leader, this is Three. Are you crazy? Acknowledge."

"Three, Leader. That's affirmative." -Wes, Wedge. SoA

Favorite authors: Allston, Stackpole, Zahn. By far. I love their characters, and I really get into their stories.

-Thumper

TIE pilots shake at the sound of my name! ...Hey, wait! You're not supposed to be shaking with laughter!

Which way did they go? How many of them were there? How fast were they going? I must find them! I am their LEADER!

Oyah. Not very often I was made laugh by books then when reading the Allston books. The Agamar Trio was hilarious.

Thought of some I really like (in no particular order)

from the movies...

- see my sig...

- "I'm looking for someone." - "Looking? Found someone you have I would say!"

- "Mudhole? Slimy? My home this is."

- "Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?"

- "Lord Vader, the fleet has moved out of lightspeed and we're preparing to... ACK!"

from the books---

- Hobbie: "It's worse than that." - Janson: "You know, whenever the name of Derek 'Hobbie' Klivian comes up, the words 'It's worse than that' ring in my ears. Sometimes I hear them when I'm dreaming."

- Wedge: "If you continue to map the Unknown Regions you'll have to call them something else."

- "That's my guess, Demolition Boy."-"I'm leader here; call me Demolition Boy Sir. Jesmin, how long have you been recording?"-" Since we came on station, Demolition Boy Sir."

Well, those are just the funny ones, the other good ones I have found hard to remember...

-What is the reason of your visite on Storinal?

-Womens, said Face with a big smile.

-You want to have a good time, is that it?

-No! shouted Face

-Wives, said Donos as if talking of the Holy Graal.

-There are only six beautiful women on Agamar. All maried.

-Five, corrected Face. Ettal Howrider was killed.

-By who? askd Wedge.

-Her Cousin.

Gotta agree with Thumper, AdmiralFishface and Mad78...those are some classic bits o' comedic genius. And the 'Dream Team' of Allston, Stackpole and Zahn have pretty much defined the post RotJ SW Universe for most Star Wars fans. To me, their works ARE canon.

I can't believe I didn't list the 'Demolition Boy, Sir' quote. I just finished reading the dang book...

Yeah, Mad the X-Wing books were great. I also likes the NJO series, it gave SW a new perspective that was more gritty than the other EU books before it. I hope to see some post-NJO books soon, after they finish the books based on the Clone Wars.

I also agree, both the X-Wing series and New Jedi Order series are - at least in my opinion - the best Star Wars novel series. They had a great way of captivating the reader, creating new characters that were very likable, great battle scenes, lots of thought put into how sides react etc.

I dont remember exactly how the quote goes, but it was something like this....

"Contact the new Republic, and tell them we wish to discuss terms of surrender" ~ Supreme Admiral Pelleon

That denoted the end of an antire era in the SW universe, and the birth of a new one.

And also.....

"It was done so.... beautifully" ~ Grand Admiral Thrawns last words.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
