Texas_Fett Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 (edited) Rebellion Fanatic Recruited by US Air ForceJune10th, 2004(AP) San Antonio- Word out of Washington indicates that the Defense Department has begun recruiting citizens with specific gaming talents to fill command and control roles. Spurred by the success of the Americas Army First Person Shooter (FPS) game and the talents it developed in potential recruits, the Air Force has decided to seek people who display an above-average grasp of tactics in a military setting for similar reasons. “Such recruits would not only be perfect for command and control roles,†Edited July 22, 2004 by Texas_Fett Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy -"As you wish..."-"He's no good to me dead..."-"What if he doesn't survive? the_mask Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Damn, that 3PO news droid got my comments wrong again. Cain Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Cain said of Texas_Fett, "He writes good. American Military is no real challenge. For a true challenge, try my 'Protectorate: The Empire Strikes back 2.2 update' and 'Admiral's Nightmares' Scenarios and give me feedback in the 'Rebellion Design Bureau' forum." When I said this ?!....Well the part with the American Military ....maybe the Army has some problems in command for sure ....anyway I think the Air Force should also have their "Marines-troops".... maybe they will do better in Irak. Well congrats Texas_Fett ....if you join the command in the Air Force I will not want to be in the rebels skin ...I mean terorists BTW You guys dont have something like the Forgain Legion ? Where forgain dudes can join ? Also the 2.2 is now 2.4 (New 3D Stuff with he help of The_Mask) Congrats again maybe you will be dispached in the NATO's east and we get to meet each other - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -

Texas_Fett Posted June 13, 2004 Author Posted June 13, 2004 Thanks guys! It's nice to know I'd be missed...that is, if I was actually going to be leaving. I definitely will be stopping in whenever I can, but I'm afraid it'll probably mean some "interruptions in service". Hopefully, none of them permanent. I'll be flying around on AWACS, though (early warning aircraft) as an Air Battle Manager, so there's little chance I'll need to eject. But I'll keep your advice in mind, Jahled. Thumper, I'm sorry I forgot you in the article. I also forgot TK, Evanders, Stratus, ADarkJedi44...sorry guys! Maybe I'll have to just post updates. Cain, it'd be great if we did get that chance. I imagine I'll only get flyovers of Europe, but I'll have to get better ideas of where everyone is so that inthe odd chance that I DO experience "engine trouble" or somesuch, then I'll have a friendly face to hang out with. the_mask Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Thanks BBL, that'd be cool. Btw, if anyone else is still wondering, what exactly an Air Battle Manager does, I just got got word from a long-time double agent in Zoot's evil empire, Gerard the mouse. He got me this snapshot of TF's new job description. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif

the_mask Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 It does, Mike: it's reliable technology, that's been running for many years and most of its quirks were discovered and removed. Airplanes for example have onboard computers, that you would've put in the recycler bin years ago, for the same reason. Just think of what would happen if, say ... their 'engine' was from Westwood. On some occasions it would simply crash in the middle of a mission or do something totally unexpected. Westwood would reply, that they already knew about the matter and they would need about 5 patches, until it was running smoothly http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 Here's an update, fellas (and gals! ) I just got word that I start class on the 23rd of August, so I may be dropping off the face of the boards for awhile. Things have been hectic up until now anyway, but it'll only get worse before it gets better. House repairs to get it ready to go on the market being the primary worry, as is going through our collection of junk and getting rid of all those 'treasures' we haven't laid eyes on in years. Anyway, BBL will keep you posted on big events, and I'll try to drop a line to a few of you now and then. But that's all more than a month away. Thumper Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 A month just passes away too fast... I agree. Sometimes the world needs a "pause" button. Anyway, we're gonna miss ya around here, TF. I'm sure you'll have more great stories to tell when you are able to stop in, though. (Or maybe some that BBL could pass along... ) -Thumper TIE pilots shake at the sound of my name! ...Hey, wait! Jahled Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 San Antonian US Airforce Rebellion fanatic struggles with basic training... *The story behind that is quite good too (pilot leaves plane idling with brakes off and manages to total about 3 aircraft including this one). http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
