Hmm... the last time I was in London (which was also the first time  )

was in '96. The car-ferry was rocking from one side to the other, people equally runnig from side to side with the rocking  . It was about 04:00 AM but I was too awake, so a buddy and I roamed the ship, played a bit Mortal Kombat II on the machines and found a cheap book store, where I bought my first english books.

London was really cool. I really plan to return there someday, the Virgin Megastore, the London Dungeon museum, Trafalgar Sq., Sega World :!: , is is still there ? My girl was there about two years ago and she couldn't find it.

I really couldn't say about Sega World, never been there. I don't really go to central london. Croydon has enough for me, and my pc with all its games, plus all my star wars books and comics... mmmmmmmmm.

Anyway, UD, we drink beer properly hear in Croydon. By the pint, at room temperature, with good head, and lots of it, but still staying vaguely sober. We don't get so drunk we puke, but we have a damn good time!!! :D:P

Guys, I mean cookietroopers, I set up a homepage for our group.

It also contains something I made last weekend : a new movie for Rebellion.

You need smacker 3.0 (in the resources part) and to bring the movie

into Rebellion you need Hastings' patch as well.

The page is here :

http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/d_kelley/rebellion/reloaded_tc/

if that shouldn't work try:

http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/_XOOM/d_kelley/rebellion/reloaded_tc/

The menues are pretty self-explaining.

Also, to get a bit farther in our achievments: post your ideas about event pics ! Candidate pics will be featured on our page.

I just visited the site, I understand now.

Can't you make the movie file in a simpler format? Or is that not fun because anyone can preview it? I mean, the TC should ocme as a total new thing, released in one time, IMHO

So can't we get a private forum or something

The private one just has the nude pics of Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher (I prefer those  ), little more going on there

You say you understand Commander, but in the next sentence there's something that makes me doubt that a bit.

So let me clarify it a bit (for everyone else as well) : I converted the movie to the Smacker format, so it can already be included in Rebellion, or similar and better movies in the TC.

If you download the Smacker3.0 file I put on that page as well, then you can view the movie with that Smacker player pretty easily.

If you already have the newer player, then that will work as well. You just need the 3.0 to encode the new movies to Rebellion's format and to play the movies, if you don't already have the newer Smacker.

Hastings is currently rewriting his patch at my request, so if you don't already have that, you can just view the movie for now.

But as I stated on the dll site: this was meant to be a sample and to show you, that it is possible to create and include new movies in Rebellion.

My liege, I do understand.

But I was wondering in what format you made this movie, and how this works. I assume you can't just take a divx movie or a quicktime and put it in Rebellion :D , I didn't know Smacker had a player featured

Hehehe, any avi source will do, as long as you have the codec installed.

I also included a description on which original movie file shows what scene and what settings (resolution, palette, fps and datarate) are needed to encode the movies to a format that Rebellion will play, in the Smacker3.0 file.

This sounds like you already have something up your sleeve :D

Okay, first, is Smacker the tool that you use to actually make the movies? Second, how does movie making work? Is it a matter of combining a sequence of screen-shots or what? Is some sort of tutorial included in the download, and if not, where can i find one? I'd love to have a go at making a movie, but it seems really, REALLY, hard.

Help?

Whoa, many questions. Ok here goes:

1. yep

2. explained in the mini-tutorial in the smacker3.0 download

3. could also work, but I prefer converting from an avi source

(any codec)

4. yep, see nr. 2

5. It depends on wether you did edit vacation videos, for example on the pc before.

Thank you mister mask. So in games like JK II or RTCW, how do they make the cutscenes, it's almost like they've got a camera in the level designer but they script certain bodies to do certain things.

In both games they did script the behavior of the models and what would happen in the levels. For JK2 there was a scripting engine released, but I never really dug into this.

Does anybody know how to make movies from JK2, except for the one method that gives you thousands of seperate pics ? Is it possible to convert the demos to another format ?

You could inform at some JO site, like massassi.net or jediknightii.net

Some people there can make their own in game movies, maybe some are willing to do that for us too - for a lot of credit :)

bit late but never the less. Miggell said "We'll show you how to drink beer "

I'd like to take this opportunity to reject this claim in a simple argument...Bollocks. You blokes could drink a beer to save yerselfs, all your beer is warm and as weak as piss.

Now if you come to Oz..we'll show yer how to drink beer. None of this namby pamby so called "Light" or "Medium" beer but ice cold homebrew :)

nice work with the TC, can't wait to get me hands on it. I'd offer a hand but the Combine is enough work already.

Khan! You're back! :o

--JKII movie idea: I like it, as long as it could be touched up.. we could do it with the characters, but I don't think it would be as good for the ship battles. :)

Well I made a 'trench run' to DS2's reactor core and recorded that in XWA, but I'll have to check on how this'll look as a movie. Ship to ship battles should look goooood though, you'd just need to cobble some missions together and let the ships blaze away at each other, along with the fighters dogfighting here and there...

Btw, Igor could you ask Night how LA reacts to the soundtrack from the movies being used in TFN's fan movies ? I've downloaded some and everyone has the music and sound effects in 'em. LA doesn't seem to care, as long as it's non-profit, could you try and clear this up ?

So can we convert the XWA movies to be used in Rebellion?

Yeah, JKII was designed for people, not space, and XWA was designed for space, not people. As long as we're nice when we ask them, i can't see a problem. I hope. :)
