Capturing Enemy Special Forces...

Check this out. Using RebEd I enabled the side I was playing (the Empire) to be able to build Alliance Infiltrators, just to see if you could. Returning to the game I found they appeared on my troop menu. I continued with my game and subsequently forgot I had this option. Being the Empire I soon found myself subjugating a rebel world. Upon successfully invading it I suddenly found myself in possession of 14 Infilfiltrator units, no doubt trapped by my blocade on the world below. However, I suddenly got parranoid that the game would quickly crash and scrapped all of them bar the three I sent to a anogher system (before scapping them to). Pretty cool eh? I have no idea if you can get away with playing an entire game with enemy units without crashes though....

No you wouldn't have to sacrifice another unit type. In RebSE you can tick both Alliance AND Empire. I ticked Infiltrators and didn't loose an Imperial unit. Haven't you enabled the Alliance to be able to build Star Destroyers and other Imperial Ship types? (you can have the Emancipator & Liberator like in the Dark Empire comics, if you have a little rerstraint and don't go over board). What freaked me about suddenly comming into possession of those infiltrator units was that as soon as I took control of the planet it appeared that any rebel special forces unit that would normally have been killed was suddenly in my possession. What I ment about being dubious about allowing the rebels access to Nogri is the gray area of the Alliance assassinating Imperial characters (a bit iffy...). Also the game might get freaked out and crash...

As I remember from RebEd you can't give one side more units/ships/characters thatn the other. I know for certain that you can't give one side 31 characters and the other 29. I don't think that it wroks for ships.

I'll try and see...

BTW, what's RebSE?

You'll find you can.....with the exception of characters. All of my recent games i've mixed ships to the empire and alliance (giving the Empire Nebulon Figates, alliance Strike cruisers, etc, just like in the books). I haven't tried troops, and I seem to remember RebEd says somewhere if you do it with fighters the game crashes. But you absolutely definitly can do it with ships. Try and see.. -Jahled.

Say ElvisMiggell dude, your profile says you live in London. Have you checked out Wedge Antilles and Captain Panaka in 'Holby City' on BBC1?

They're both pretending to be surgeons. It's quite freaked out. I mean what next, Darth Vader turning up in the Queen Vic. on Eastenders, and retorting to Phil Mitchel "I find your lack of faith disturbing."

Going back to both sides having each others' ship-types, I remember the joy I felt (as the Alliance) when my Star Destroyer, Freedom, came out of hyperspace- ship model and all- with it's routine of X-Wings, to face off the Imperial Victory-Cruiser. I had to pause the game for a while and play around with angles just to believe what I was seeing. That was the single most important thing I had wanted from Rebellion, access to any ship type in the tactical game. In one game the Alliance had a SSD, naturally called the 'Lusankya.' In another the Empire access to those zippy Corellion Gunships to wipe the board of Alliance starfighters before they got near my ISDs. Man, joy unfounded.

Dave's a nice bloke, and if you remember, he did try a stint as a green cross code man!

Ewean's also pretty decent, i've met both of them, Dave four times now.

Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine...

How could you forget the Green cross Code Man. It took years for me to cross a road without expecting this tall bloke appearing out of nowhere and grabbing my sholder. But do you remember Alvin Stardust doing kid's road awareness...imagine if he had become Darth Vader. 'Star Wars the musical.... ' I get the impression Dave wants to be in Episode III pretty bad. Perhaps it's something to do with the duff deal he got out of the original films, unlike Alex Guiness whose grandchildren still get their school fees paid from his royalties...

Yeh, although Vader's only going to appear in costume for the last five minutes of the film, says Lucas, apparently.

Well that should definately be Dave Prowse ! No one can copy that style of movement. And it would be the right thing to do as well :D

Apparently - Illustrated Companion to Ep II - Dave Prowse wasn't the only Vader. JEJ did the voice, but there was a guy that did all the stunts, and anopther that did the fight scenes. Hmmmmm.

If you want your special forces to perform imperial missions you could just change their mission settings in rebed instead of being concerned with unit swapping.

Also, I gave the rebellion SSDs and the empire Bulwarks (they could each build both) (so I could pretend that I had kept things even) but I have a couple of questions:

I adjusted the research numbers so that the final number would stay the same for both sides (12 or 13 I think), which meant simply giving each side one additional ship from the start. My question is: was this necessary? Can the reasearch number be increased beyond the original setting (say to 18 or 19) without messing up the game?

If I am wise, it is because I know that I know nothing.

Yeah, I think one of them is named Patrick Shaw, that's the guy who's under Vader's helmet at the end of ROTJ. Dunno if he also did the fight scenes, or if that was a stuntman.
