Hello everyone,

 

A long time ago SWRebellion website had a listing of all the ships used in Rebellion (the game) that had the names of all of them (Nemesis, Relentless, Vengeance, etc) for Imperial and Rebel Alliance ships that the computer would name them if it was that player. If you can find the names anywhere (a list) or remember thme just post them at the forums in this post. Or if you can supply a link or anything I would appreciate it. Thanks. Whatever you can do please post.

The AI gives names randomly to ships.

Interesting, that it also gives name for the death star. In one of my games against computer, the AI named his death star as "Raze"...

Random names ? That could explain the difficulties in mapping them.

Names are randomized within certain groups. For instance, Raze can be a name for a ISD; ISDII; SSD; or a DS.

Liberty can be a name for a MONCAL; LIB; BUL; DAU.

 

I changed most of the names in TEXTSTRA a while ago... No more Greek names for Star Galleons (No more Star Galleons, for that matter)

btw why the AI dosen't name my ships also ?? And I have always Bulk 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8...etc...and I have to rename all of them ?! I hate that !

Can be , that's something we definately need to finish for the TC.

I once downloaded quite a bunch of shipnames from a filtered search of the CUSWE, so Reloaded would also have right shipnames.

Star Destroer 1 is always renamed into Judicator, we should place Chimaera instead of Judicator for the TC.

Ok, I think I begin to see a pattern there.

 

The name entries in Textstra.dll are grouped and I copied the shiptype behind the names I knew. Some groups seem to be used for different classes, as you guys already said. Although the shiptypes don't always seem to stay in these groups. For example, I had a Imp escort carrier called "Oceanus" in the group with the Carracks (Gorgon, Griffin, ...) but also in the group below with Nessus and Jaguar.

Oh, I'm quite aware of that fact, TK. But has anyone ever tried to built 200 Dreadnaughts in Rebellion? Waste of resources, if you ask me. But that's quite enough names for building a 'Rebellion-Scale' Katana fleet.

I've built them as well, no smart names, though, I just rename them to what most silly name I can think of.

 

SOCL, I think, has built the Katana Fleet as well.

There's certainly nothing wrong with building a "Katana Fleet". It's no different from overzealous Alliance-players going overboard with their Nebulon-B production. (Guilty... ) I just don't see the point of building 200 of 'em in a game the scale of Rebellion.

That said, I think a cool feature for if/when we ever get the sourcecode or we develop Rebellion 2 would be to have ships part of neutral planet arsenals, much like defenses and facilities. They could be won over by diplomacy, acquired with 'new' "ship capture" missions, and we could even place a random "Katana Fleet" of twenty or thirty dreadnaughts somewhere in one of our 'new' "Deep Space" zones, which would only be revealed after certain prerequisites are met (involving Talon Kaarde & Niles Ferrier?). Coupled with "neutrals" like pirates, the Ssi-Ruk(sp?) and whatnot, and you'd have some pretty dynamic events to contend with.

Okay, so we have lists and sites of 'official' names for Star Destroyers and Mon Cal cruisers; we have lists of 'unofficial' names people have used during the course of a game...but what about 'official' names for ships other than Star Destroyers and Mon Cals? Is there a site or list that covers these, compiled in a manner that doesn't involve scrolling through the list at CUSWE?
