Imperial Dreadnought

The Imperial Dreadnought is an Imperial Dreadnought-class heavy cruiser built by Rendili StarDrive, a Republic-era design that the Galactic Empire took into service for secondary fleet duties.

History

This ship developed from the older Dreadnought-class cruisers of the Republic era. Around ABY 0 the Imperial Navy took these vessels into its ranks, an example of the Galactic Empire's habit of reworking existing designs to suit its needs. The Imperial Dreadnought-class had a reputation for toughness and strong weapons, making it dependable in many combat situations. Smaller and less powerful than Star Destroyers, these heavy cruisers usually filled supporting jobs including patrol work, escorting and occupation duty across the galaxy. After the Death Star's destruction they kept helping the Empire hold control, demonstrating the flexibility of the Imperial fleet.

In the game

The patch gives the slot a new name and identity but keeps its stats: a field-by-field comparison with the original game data finds no differences. Everything in the Imperial Dreadnaught article's stats applies here too.
