Taris
Taris is a temperate, urbanized planet in Mandalorian Space, home to native Nekghouls among others, and associated with food, raw materials, luxury goods, technology and Tarisian ale.
Taris is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Jerijador.
History
Taris remained a diminished version of its past glory, with its upper levels left in ruins by an earlier catastrophe. The former ecumenopolis, once known for soaring skyscrapers and a busy population, now stood as a grim reminder of the perils of war and unchecked ambition. A few tough survivors and outcasts were able to survive in the lower tiers, but the planet never regained its old prominence. It stayed largely uninvolved in the the Imperial-Rebel fighting, since the devastation had greatly reduced its strategic and economic value.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Mandalorian Space sector; the original game calls it the Calaron sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
