Socorro
Socorro is an arid desert planet, native to the Monnok and also home to Humans. Its economy covers metals, water, nether ice, high technology and the skills that go with it.
Socorro is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Thila.
History
Socorro remained an essential gathering place for outlaws, smugglers and pirates, thanks to its distance and lawless character. Its rough terrain suited anyone wishing to hide from the Empire and other authorities. As the struggle between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance intensified, the planet grew even more vital as a refuge for those hoping to profit from the disorder. Its residents, skilled in bargaining and trickery, kept playing every side against the others, securing the planet's lasting name as a refuge of rogues and illicit trade.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Wild Space sector; the original game calls it the Xappyh sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
