Manaan
Manaan is a temperate ocean world of scattered islands, home to the native Selkath alongside many other species. Its economy rests on kolto, seafood, tourism, food, technology, clothing and building materials.
Manaan is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Sullust.
History
Manaan kept its position as a neutral world by profiting from its hold over kolto, a prized healing agent. The Selkath, who govern the planet, kept supplying kolto to factions across the galaxy, which brought in great wealth and preserved their impartiality. Even as war raged, the planet's rulers concentrated on safeguarding their independence, enforcing neutrality firmly and defending the resource against outside danger. Because of this standing, the world was largely spared the galaxy's troubles and offered shelter to people escaping the upheaval.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Inner Rim sector; the original game calls it the Sluis sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
