Kessel (25th Anniversary patch)
Kessel is a hot, humid world of barren spice mines and lush sanctuaries, home to Dwuni, Gigoran, Humans, Pyke, Twi'lek and Wookiees. Its economy rests on spice, coaxium, kesselstone, kessoline and slave labor.
Kessel is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Cardooine.
History
Kessel went through major turmoil. Its spice deposits drew interest from many factions, and the mines were notorious for relying on enslaved workers who lived in brutal conditions. Once the Death Star had been destroyed, the shifting balance of power across the galaxy disturbed the mining operations. Rival groups competed for command of the spice business, producing conflict, while several bands of freedom fighters tried repeatedly to free the laborers and break the system that had dominated the world for so long.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Hutt Space sector; the original game calls it the Jospro sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
