Hoth (25th Anniversary patch)

Hoth is a frigid world of frozen ice plains, glaciers, oceans and mountains, whose native species are the Skel.

Hoth is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Mindar.

History

Hoth became strategically significant when the Rebel Alliance, looking for a concealed base away from the Galactic Empire, set up Echo Base on the distant ice world. Its harsh climate and isolation suited the Alliance as a refuge for its operations. Still, Imperial scouts eventually found the base, which led to a large confrontation called the Battle of Hoth. After heavy fighting the Alliance had to evacuate and give up the base, and Hoth went back to being a barren place that affected the wider conflicts very little.

In the game

In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Western Reaches sector; the original game calls it the Kanchen sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
