Carida (25th Anniversary patch)
Carida is a temperate world of mountains, forests, deserts, jungles, glaciers and arctic tundra, home to native Caridans and Humans and producing food, military personnel, military technology and industrial equipment.
Carida is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Phorliss.
History
Carida is home to the celebrated Imperial Academy, and the Empire came to treat it as a world of great importance. Once the Death Star was gone, training and production there were stepped up. The Academy's graduates, among them elite Stormtroopers and officers, helped the Empire keep its grip on the galaxy, and the heavily fortified planet drew gifted students and fighters from across space. Experimental projects and new technologies added to its weight. Imperial control was not to last: Carida was destined to become contested ground between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, and its fate would depend on how the wider fight for freedom turned out.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Colonies sector; the original game calls it the Dolomar sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
